Going to an auto repair shop can be intimidating for someone like me who knows nothing about cars, but these guys not only know their stuff, they’re super friendly and actually take the time to explain the situation. There’s no run-around and no awkwardness.

THE VOICE

I brought my car here for a brake replacement, and I couldn’t be happier. Not only did my brakes get replaced quickly, but their prices are more than fair. And there’s no overcharging or up-selling like some shops. From now on, when my Sally needs something remedied, I’ll be taking her to The Car Doctor!”

WELCOME TO INFO MOUNTAIN VIEW Mountain View has cemented itself as an epicenter for tech giants, new ideas and an ever-increasing culture of productivity. Home to NASA’s Ames Research Center, four Fortune 500 companies, 1,385 startups valued at over $5 million (that’s 103 more than last year) and Google’s expanding headquarters, it’s no surprise that the city has been ranked among the Top 50 fastest growing economies in the the U.S. for the past two years. But the community isn’t all about tech: Its A+ ratings for schools, outdoor activities, diversity and nightlife also have placed it among the Top 5 California suburbs to live and raise a family. The city includes award-winning schools, 8 miles of shoreline trails, a working farm, museums, performance centers, an amphitheater and Castro Street’s vibrant dining scene, which saw the opening of 10 new restaurants this year. On the flip side, the city’s economic prosperity has brought growing pains, mainly in the form of traffic and out-of-whack real estate prices. This year, the city earned D+ and F ratings for its high cost of living in multiple national surveys, including those conducted by Niche.com and areavibes.com. According to the surveys, the cost of living in Mountain View is 115 percent higher than the national average, with housing costs 329 percent above the national average. The city also ranks 55 percent higher than the statewide average. Despite these growing pains, residents across the city say Mountain View continues to be a place with close-knit neighborhoods and strong community activism. Our annual Info Mountain View publication aims to help residents get the most out of the community by capturing the most useful information needed to connect with neighborhood leaders, contact the City Council or reach out to the mayor. Our Education section offers comparative information on public and private schools. The Outdoors chapter maps out where you can fish, skate, observe wildlife or just get away for the day. The Arts & Entertainment section provides a look at Mountain View’s newest restaurants and best places to catch a performance or learn about local history. In addition to this publication, you can visit mv-voice.com to stay up-to-date on news and events happening in Mountain View. Subscribe to Express, a daily email, and have the news delivered right to your inbox. Or check out Weekend Express, emailed on Thursdays, for the scoop on art and entertainment. Both are free; sign up at mv-voice.com/express. And if you’ve got suggestions for next year’s Info Mountain View, please email editor@ mv-voice.com. We appreciate your feedback.

The group has been performing original plays, political satires and Silicon Valley spoofs at local theaters and tech companies since 1995, when students at Stanford and Berkeley universities most of whom were engineers from India decided they needed a creative outlet outside of work and began practicing the works of Indian playwrights in a member's Palo Alto home. of new habitat for wetland species over the next five years as part of a $500 million bond package approved by voters in 2016 that includes the rehabilitation of about 15,100 acres of the South

Mountain View boasts 40 parks and nearly 1,000 acres of open space, providing plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors from the shores of the Baylands to downtown’s plazas to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains that connect to 220 miles of regional trails. Here’s a look at Mountain View’s outdoor spaces: Parks and trails are open from 6 a.m. to 30 mins after sunset, unless otherwise indicated. No alcohol permitted in parks. Dogs must be on leash in public areas. Dog owners may train a dog off leash in designated areas of parks by permit only. Permits are available through the department recreation. Early Childhood through Eighth Grade

From our Reggio-inspired early childhood program to our innovative middle school, we believe that students learn to their potential when they are inspired. Woodland School takes a joyful approach to learning and places an emphasis on inquiry-based projects, empowering and encouraging students to be active and engaged learners. Our small class sizes translate into more individualized attention for our students and enhance the learning environment. Woodland School is situated on 10.5 acres just west of Stanford University at highway 280. Our spacious and idyllic environment gives children room to breathe, space to play, and freedom to explore the environment around them— all beneficial to their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Impressive home in a private oasis in a highly desirable Downtown Mountain View location! “Jerylann Mateo is the quintessential professional. Knowledgeable, helpful, a great communicator and completely on top of all details. She helped my husband and me sell our townhouse in Mountain View for top dollar. Concurrently she helped us find and purchase a new home in Cupertino. We were thrilled with the outcome of both transactions. I was aware of Jerylann’s outstanding performance for many hears, hearing reports from friends and colleagues who were very happy with her work. I am pleased I can now attest to her abilities first hand. ”
