The gifts reflected in this report were received by Mount de Sales Academy between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021. OUR PRINCIPAL Dear Friends of Mount de Sales Academy, Gratitude frequently comes to mind for me at Mount de Sales! It is delightful to hear the girls’ excitement in the halls, sitting in groups at lunch and in class, and enjoying time spent 100% in-person. We are thankful that the community of Mount de Sales Academy (MDSA) came together last year to provide our students as much as we could amidst a complicated pandemic. I am grateful to have the support of donors like you, who have been and continue to be a foundational part of what we do, making it possible in tangible ways to give our students opportunities to thrive, flourish, and learn in this outstanding environment! The new Center for Performing Arts and Student Life (CPASL) is a prime example. I am amazed each time I see our new CPASL. What a magnificent space! This stateof-the-art building is the fruition of generations of MDSA faithful who believe in our students and mission. We will soon hear students’ cheers and applause for performances, recitals, and concerts. Students will perform individually and as a group, encouraging each other as they find their voice in new ways and gain confidence to project themselves in the safe space of their home-away-from-home, Mount de Sales. While construction of the CPASL is completed, the funding is not. MDSA financed $4M of the $11M CPASL. I will share more information in the near future on the short-term goal of $1M in debt reduction with the long-term goal of no debt. Thank you for your contributions to: the Capital Campaign, the Cupola Fund (Annual Giving), The Heritage with Heart Day of Giving, scholarships, and other ways you have supported MDSA over the past year. Thank you for your financial gifts, in-kind donations, service, prayers, and steadfast belief in Mount de Sales Academy, both from current families and friends far and near. I am grateful to God for the many blessings He has given us at Mount de Sales Academy, of which you are certainly one! You are in my daily prayers. I pray that God will bless you and your family abundantly for your goodness to and support of MDSA. Be sure to watch for Campaign Celebration details, planned for March 19, 2022, when we can celebrate together this great time to be a part of Mount de Sales.

OUR BOARD PRESIDENT Dear Friends, A recurrent sentiment of this school year is, “it’s a great time to be at Mount de Sales Academy!” As life, hopefully, settles after a prolonged turbulent time for our world, Mount de Sales Academy (MDSA) has embraced what makes our community special. These are the same qualities that our entire culture is clamoring for right now, authentic and in-person connections, opportunities to come together, and a return to normalcy. At MDSA, however, that new normal is better than before as we incorporate the Center for Performing Arts and Student Life into our day-to-day operations. How have we achieved all of this at Mount de Sales Academy? The answer is simple, you, and others like you, who are recognized and celebrated in this Annual Report of Donors. Your generosity enables MDSA to continually improve the experience of each student now and in the future. This generosity takes many forms. As recognized here, every gift makes a difference, and our work would not be possible without you. If you serve the school as a volunteer or join us for an event or activity, you support our success. When you pray for Mount de Sales Academy, you strengthen us for the job at hand and the future ahead. Thank you for the role(s) you have played in our success! You are celebrated here and, more importantly, in the work that takes place on our campus every day. Our Financial Summary reflects the annual operating budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. This budget was based on 475 students and approved by the Board of Trustees in February 2020.
Tuition Assistance Milestone As Business Manager of Mount de Sales Academy, I am charged with, under the direction of the Board of Trustees, managing the stewardship of the monies that God provides as well as the overall financial well-being of the school. This positions me on the front lines with the families who require tuition assistance in order to make Mount de Sales financially achievable for their family. Providing help in this way is both daunting, as we encounter greater financial need than ever before, and gratifying, because Mount de Sales’ solid financial foundation has enabled us to provide the greatest amount of tuition support in our history. For the 2021-2022 school year, MDSA provided for the first time in its history, $1M in tuition assistance to our families! We are proud of this achievement, especially when you consider it was achieved during the completion of the $11M Center for Performing Arts and Student Life. This level of tuition assistance represents approximately one out of every seven dollars billed for total annual tuition. Even so, with $1M provided in tuition assistance, we are still only able to provide aid valued at approximately 35% of calculated need. You, the donors included in this Annual Report, are making it possible for the lives of girls to be changed by the Mount de Sales experience! Gifts to the Cupola Fund and the need-based St. Dominic Scholarship are critical to our ability to meet the needs of our families. I can personally attest that many of our families are sacrificing to send their daughter(s) to Mount de Sales Academy. Giving from the Heart The 2021 Heritage with Heart Day of Giving achieved a record-setting day of philanthropy for Mount de Sales Academy! The Board of Trustees set the bar high with a $50,000 matching gift, and our community responded! Together with the match, an astounding $103,420.29 was raised in one day! Exciting incentives for giving included a watercolor print of MDSA for all donors who gave $150 or more, and donors who gave $1,000 or more received a personal visit to the cupola. The classes of 1978 and 2010, who had the highest percentage of class participation, receive Cocktails in the Cupola. Next year it could be your class! Our Cupola Fund supports everything under the cupola at MDSA!
