Camp check-in will run continuously from 3 -- 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. The only exception is the short week (July 6-10) with check-in on Tuesday 3-4 pm. Cabin orientation begins immediately. If you know you will be arriving after 4 p.m., please call the camp Trading Post [(831) 430-1250] to assure that your place will be kept rather than released to the waiting list. If you must CANCEL for any reason, please notify the Registrar AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE– even the morning that camp begins, so we can call those on the waiting list. Remember that your deposit is nonrefundable and non-transferable.

Please send cash for optional activities. This will cover small costs for crafts, bookstore, and snacks if your child so chooses to participate. At check-in, each camper will deposit this cash into their camper account. Throughout the week, our staff will use a paper accounting system to determine how much change will be returned to each family on Saturday. We suggest that you plan to deposit Conference $30–$35. InCenter addition, you have the option to purchase camp memorabilia, which includes a DVD of the week’s activities ($11), theme T-shirt ($10) or 8 x 10 all-camp picture ($6). You can purchase all of these items for an even $27.

WHAT ABOUT CABINMATES? You may ask for a friend as a cabinmate, if both families agree. The friend must be entering the same grade in the fall. The Registrar will make every effort to honor your request for one cabinmate, but cannot guarantee this. The Camp Director reserves the right to pre-assign campers to cabins according to his/her best judgment. Brothers or sisters are housed separately to ensure that each one has a beneficial camp experience. No more than two cabinmate requests will be honored for each camper. Please do not request exceptions to these policies that are established for the welfare of each child and the entire camp community. Returning campers are strongly encouraged to seek out and bring a friend with them who has not been to Redwood Camp before.

HEALTH REPORT & EMERGENCIES Please complete and return the camper Health Report prior to arrival at camp. Accurate health information is essential for the welfare of your child and of the entire camp. Remember to notify the camp if your child is exposed to any communicable disease during the two weeks prior to coming to camp. Our Nurse will conduct a thorough lice inspection of each cabin group during the camp tour, between 3:45 -- 5 p.m. on Sunday. Redwood maintains a ‘‘no nit’’ policy and will send home any infected camper for treatment before return/acceptance into camp. If you are away from home, please notify us as to how we may reach you regarding any illness/injury. In the event of illness/injury requiring a trip to the doctor/clinic, or a situation requiring compliance with County regulation, or at the nurse’s discretion, you will be contacted by phone to apprise you of the situation and action taken. A limited camper’s accident insurance plan is included in the camp fee. A Registered Nurse is in residence. Doctors, clinics and fully equipped hospitals are within one to seven miles of camp. Note: We provide nutritious meals each day and adequate rest, including an afternoon rest period. If possible, please provide a photocopy of your health insurance card to the Nurse on registration day. Hospitals and clinics are asking for this to be provided on an increasing basis when taking campers in for medical attention. Thanks.

MEDICINES Only prescription medicines in their original containers may be brought to camp. These must be clearly labeled, indicating name of physician prescribing medicine, required dosage, and times to be given. The Camp Nurse will dispense all medication. Please give all medications to the Nurse; do not leave in luggage. No other drugs or alcohol are allowed.

COOKOUT IN 2010 INSTEAD OF OVERNIGHT (JUNIOR CAMPERS ONLY) RWC will not be spending the night out along Bean Creek this summer. Instead we will hike the 1/4–1/2 mile to one of our beach sites along the creek as buddy cabins for dinner and games, returning to the RWC site to sleep in their cabins. Campers will enjoy the beauty of our creek system here, a great dinner, games and... s’mores!

VISITING & MAIL Parents are asked to refrain from visiting or telephoning campers (except, of course, in case of an emergency). Please do not encourage campers to phone home or to visit you if you plan to be at the Conference Center. Written mail is encouraged, however, as receiving letters from home is very important to youngsters away at camp. Letters should emphasize the interesting things the child is doing at camp rather than too much reminder of home, illnesses of family or pets, being missed, etc. To ensure that letters are received on time, remember to mail these items before the start of camp, or on the Monday or Tuesday of that week. Late arriving mail will be returned to sending address. Please do not send or deliver food parcels to campers, except in the case of a birthday at camp. ADDRESS MAIL: Name and cabin number, Redwood Camp, Box 1000, Mount Hermon, CA 95041.

PICKING UP CAMPERS Parents are urged to make all necessary arrangements to avoid early pickup of a child. The camp period is brief, with the best value to the camper being the full week. Any request for exception to this must be cleared with the Camp Director before the opening of camp. All camps will conclude following our Victory Circle celebration which begins at 9 a.m., concluding by 9:40 a.m. Parents are invited to attend the final Victory Circle time (9 a.m.) for a glimpse of your child’s week at camp. It is essential that campers be picked up promptly by 9:40 a.m. Please call if you are delayed. Parents are encouraged to seek out the counselor to inquire as to the nature of the camper’s experience. A written report will be mailed. Where there is a church connection, counselor reports are also mailed to the child’s pastor for the benefit of follow-up.

REMINDERS Final payment on camp fee was due on May 15. Please write or call the Registration office if you have any additional questions. We look forward to welcoming you and your child(ren) to Redwood Camp! Thank you!
