WHEN TO STOP EXERCISING
HYDROTHERAPY
Best for: Those with chronic lower back pain, knee or hip pain, post-operative joint replacement, or Fibromyalgia.
Simple answer … Never!
Staying active is the single most important thing we can do to stay well and maintain independence into our senior years, especially if you find your balance deteriorating, post-surgery or after years of sedentary living. For those who have not exercised for a while (or ever), knowing where to start can be daunting, so we have made it easy for you by outlining all our seniors classes and who best they are suited to:
What it is all about: Water based exercise is ideal for those with chronic joint pain or musculoskeletal injuries. This rehabilitation class is designed to help individuals manage pain and the water environment promotes joint mobility. Don’t worry if you are not a swimmer, we utilise the warm learn to swim pool (1m depth). You can always access the edge and we place steps to assist you in and out after the lesson if mobility is a concern. Time: Thursday 2pm (45 minutes)
FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION
Best for: Diabetics, newbies to the gym who want advice to suit their needs, or those at risk of falls. What it is all about: Land based exercise is beneficial for those with chronic disease, musculoskeletal disorders and pre/post-surgery. This gentle introduction to gym based exercise is tailored to each individual within the class. Those with chronic pain through to Arthritis can benefit from gentle movement and strengthening. If your muscles are stronger, the load on each joint declines and so too joint pain. Time: Tuesday 11:30am (45 minutes)
