Our Mounties Group family said goodbye to the very special Alice Tant who played a huge role at our family club, Triglav. Alice first became involved in club activities when the club was still the traditional Slovenian club, and was always ready to give her help and support where it was needed. Following Triglav’s amalgamation with Penrith Panthers, Alice joined the Advisory Board where she demonstrated her pride and love of the club and its members, especially her beloved bingo players. Alice remained on the Advisory Committee after the Mounties Group amalgamation where she remained heavily involved in the club. Alice was a kind and generous person who always put other people first and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. The numerous contributions she made throughout her life, including the 15 years she dedicated to Triglav, will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace, Alice, you will be missed.

4 Mounties is looking forward to seeing out this exciting year with the grand opening of the new Humphries Road foyer and porte cochere, a spectacular state-of-the-art arrival zone, the scale and sophistication of which will be appropriate for the largest club in South West Sydney. Construction on the Humphries Road foyer was the next step in the major redevelopment works that began with the opening of the awardwinning Bau Truong Vietnamese Restaurant in October 2014. We sincerely thank all members and guests who visited during this time for their patience, as we continued to make good on our promise of connecting people and community. We’re pleased to say that minimal disruption was experienced while we continued to bring you the best in food and beverage, entertainment, promotions and community services. Since the foyer construction began in January, we have given away five cars, $352,000 in cash prizes, fundraised $30,755 for charity through special events, held 31 live shows in the Showroom, hosted 195 private functions and had record numbers through our new and improved dining offers. The opening of the new foyer in early December signals the beginning of the next stage of redevelopments for the club as we continue to improve the club facilities for members and guests, ensuring that Mounties meets the needs
and wants of the community to the highest standard, now and into the future. Exciting features of the next stages of the redevelopment include a three-level underground secure carpark, a food and beverage project that will see the addition of more dining options, a new Showroom and more diverse function spaces. With the approval from the JRPP for the underground carpark and the food and beverage project received, the next steps include finalising the interior designs, tendering for contractors and beginning construction of the carpark. We will bring you more information about each exciting stage as we move forward with the masterplan.

OUR COMMUNITY Mounties Group has poured more than $590,000 into worthy community organisations as part of our annual ClubGRANTS presentation. In all, 34 local organisations representing 41 important projects were successful in their application for funding. The ClubGRANTS form part of the $5.4 million Mounties Group has contributed back to the community in the last financial year. The Ted Noffs Foundation, NSW Elderly Friendship Association Inc. and Alzheimer’s Australia NSW were amoungst the grants recipients at the presentation held at Mounties on Thursday 6 August.
ClubGRANTS is one of the most important events on the Mounties Group calendar. This year was particularly special, as it was the first time Mounties Group has brought together its western and northern communities, by combining the Mounties, Mekong and Triglav grants with those of our club on the northern beaches, Harbord Diggers. Over the years, Mounties Group has fostered relationships with existing recipients as well as welcomed new ones to the Mounties family. We look forward to growing these relationships and continuing to positively impact the community together in the future.

Take one ambitious person with a passion for community, blend with a close knit family, grind for nine years and viola! Owner of The Coffee Club - Mounties, Joe Minasian discovered his appetite for coffee as a young child. Having opened his first coffee shop over nine years ago, Joe cannot pinpoint one aspect of his job that he dislikes. He says, “I’ve always had a passion for coffee and the communal aspect attached with it, I am always at my prime and happiest when I am at work.” Coffee holds a special place in the hearts of many, but none more so than in Joe, when his love of coffee turned into a chance meeting with a potential love interest – a captivating retail manager in the same centre as his coffee shop. It was then that Joe’s coffee tasted like a chance at something greater. The fairytale flourished culminating in a magical proposal at Disneyland. Joe devoted himself to his work, opening The Coffee Club - Mounties as a family business four years ago. Recently, Joe found out that coffee wasn’t the only thing brewing in his life – he and his wife are expecting their first child and his busy work life is going to be shared with his new growing family. He says, “It has already been a great journey so far and an unimaginable experience.” As Saturday 3 October is the baby’s due date, The Coffee Club is celebrating with a special kid’s offer. “In my culture, we celebrate good fortune by giving something in return for a blessing.
