EDUCATION ENHANCEMENTS

HONOURS STREAM:

Certain degrees offer an honours stream to introduce you to independent learning, research and the academic challenges associated with professional and graduate studies. Enhance your problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.

MINORS:

Students in degree programs can study topics outside of their major by including a minor. With over 60 minors to choose from, you can explore additional interest areas that may help with future employment or graduate studies.

CONCENTRATIONS:

Some degree programs offer required or optional concentrations as part of your major. Concentrations include six to 10 courses designed to enhance your focus on a specific area of study.

WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING:

Programs with required or optional work placements, including internships, work terms, co-ops and practicums, allow you to gain valuable industry experience.

A Mount Royal BA gives you the foundation to analyze past, present and future issues with an open and creative mind. These skills will open doors to a variety of professions as well as graduate or professional studies. Select your focus from six majors.

Policy Studies

Understand the need for effective, responsive policies in government, business and non-profit sectors and learn how to advise, critique, write and implement policy. Build an academic foundation in policy theory, political science and economics. Augment these academic skills by developing critical thinking, problem solving and project management skills. Then, gain first-hand experience during a semester-long internship in the world of policy making and analysis.

General Science

Gain a comprehensive undergraduate education in science with exposure to a wide range of disciplines. Explore what interests you most in the sciences while building a strong foundation in mathematics and computing. This degree provides you with the skills to meet the most in-demand employment opportunities. Complete your degree by selecting two of the following six concentrations:

BIOLOGY

Learn about the science of life by exploring one of three areas of biology: anatomy and physiology, cellular and molecular biology, or ecology and evolution.

Funeral Service Education

Mount Royal’s three Funeral Service Education programs prepare students for an entry-level position in the funeral service profession. They integrate online theory and experiential learning through the completion of supervised practicums and work experience. In most cases, the work experience courses can be completed in the community of your choice.

EMBALMER CERTIFICATE

Specialize in embalming and restorative arts through part-time studies. The Embalmer Certificate consists of 10 courses (465 hours) that may be completed in one year to a maximum of six years.

FUNERAL DIRECTOR CERTIFICATE

Concentrate on funeral directing through part-time studies. Students are prepared to become licensed as a funeral director. The Funeral Director Certificate consists of 12 courses (1,815 hours) that may be completed in one year to a maximum of six years.

FUNERAL SERVICE DIPLOMA

Prepare to license as a funeral director and an embalmer through full-time or part-time studies. The Funeral Service Diploma consists of 20 courses (1,847 hours) that may be completed in one year to a maximum of six years.

Massage Therapy Diploma

The Massage Therapy Diploma is accredited by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation and recognized by professional associations and regulatory colleges. The 2200hour diploma follows a comprehensive approach to wellness with a focus on treating chronic and acute conditions. DINING PLANS

Mount Royal offers three levels of flexible and reloadable dining plans for use on campus at The Table, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Jugo Juice and Barrow Coffee Roasters. All plans are optional and loaded through the MRU OneCard.
