EMERGENCY MEDICINE The Harvey R. Chaplin Family Stroke and Chest Pain Center Mount Sinai has three emergency centers serving Miami-Dade, located in Miami Beach, Aventura and Hialeah. Our expert staff treats patients of all ages with everything from minor illnesses to major injuries. The Hildebrandt Emergency Center is the only emergency center in Miami Beach and contains 56 treatment rooms including six designated behavioral health rooms for psychiatric and/or psychological evaluations. This spacious facility, opened in 2019, can accommodate 75,000 patient visits per year. The Harvey R. Chaplin Family Stroke and Chest Pain Center in the Hildebrandt Emergency Center is staffed and equipped around the clock to swiftly and accurately diagnose and treat stroke and heart attack victims, providing immediate access to the latest diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional advances. Mount Sinai’s freestanding emergency center in Hialeah contains 24 treatment bays, as well as a dedicated, full-service lab and diagnostic center. Completed in 2018, the emergency center was built to accommodate up to 30,000 patient visits per year.

A SURGICAL DESTINATION Opened in 2019, the Skolnick Surgical Tower at Mount Sinai Medical Center is the most advanced surgical facility in South Florida and houses 12 integrated operating rooms with technology that promotes personalization for both patients and surgeons. In addition to the building’s two-story atrium and public courtyard, each of the 154 all-private patient rooms in the surgical center have a bay view. Mount Sinai’s physicians — recognized as leaders in their fields — are actively involved in medical research and clinical trials, providing patients with the most effective treatment options not readily found at other institutions. Mount Sinai also continues to expand its diagnostic and treatment capabilities with the latest imaging and surgical equipment, giving doctors and nurses the tools they need to provide the most comprehensive care.

Dr. Steve Xydas, Chief of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, performs a cardiac procedure. Dr. Xydas is a graduate of Harvard University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his general surgery and cardiovascular surgery training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.


CARDIOVASCULAR The Mount Sinai Heart Institute is Florida’s premier cardiovascular program with the only Ivy League affiliation of its kind in South Florida, backed by Columbia University. Our highly skilled surgeons perform the most cardiac surgeries in Miami-Dade County, with the best survival rate.* The program also boasts: The most valve procedures performed in South Florida and the region’s most experienced minimally invasive heart surgeons. The only robotic heart surgery program in South Florida, specializing in robotic CABG. Doctors who are skilled in performing a high volume of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterizations to unclog arteries in the heart. Experts known for treating common and complex heart rhythm disorders, and who are experienced in all types of device implantation and management. CANCER CARE Mount Sinai’s Comprehensive Cancer Center is a nationally recognized, award-winning facility that utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary focus to care for patients with a variety of cancers. This commitment to excellence and approach to care has resulted in the medical center receiving several awards and accolades. Mount Sinai is the only hospital in Florida, and one of 23 in the U.S., to receive its third consecutive Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer. Mount Sinai’s Cancer Center: Is home to specialists recognized for exceptional expertise in caring for breast, lung, prostate, colon, skin and other cancers. Utilizes the latest imaging tools that aid in diagnosis and treatment. Is actively involved in research, which remains a critical aspect of cancer care as discoveries lead to effective new treatment options. Provides patients with support services for nutritional and psychosocial counseling. NEUROSCIENCE Mount Sinai’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence is one of the most comprehensive facilities in Florida for the treatment of disorders of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. The program includes minimally invasive joint repair and replacement for knees and hips, spine surgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, trauma care and geriatric fracture treatments. Having trained at some of the most prestigious and top-ranked institutions in around the country, the orthopedics team is focused on providing patients with the most innovative options in technologies and procedures. Mount Sinai also: Was among the first hospitals to offer custom knee replacements and was among the first hospitals in South Florida to offer hip resurfacing as an alternative to hip replacement. Has one of the most extensive rehabilitation programs in South Florida, which blends personalized therapy with creative new approaches to restore patients to full function.
