EMERGENCY MEDICINE The Harvey R. Chaplin Family Stroke and Chest Pain Center Mount Sinai has three emergency centers serving Miami-Dade, located in Miami Beach, Aventura and Hialeah. Our expert staff treats patients of all ages with everything from minor illnesses to major injuries. The Hildebrandt Emergency Center is the only emergency center in Miami Beach and contains 56 treatment rooms including six designated behavioral health rooms for psychiatric and/or psychological evaluations. This spacious facility, opened in 2019, can accommodate 75,000 patient visits per year. The Harvey R. Chaplin Family Stroke and Chest Pain Center in the Hildebrandt Emergency Center is staffed and equipped around the clock to swiftly and accurately diagnose and treat stroke and heart attack victims, providing immediate access to the latest diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional advances. Mount Sinai’s freestanding emergency center in Hialeah contains 24 treatment bays, as well as a dedicated, full-service lab and diagnostic center. Completed in 2018, the emergency center was built to accommodate up to 30,000 patient visits per year.

A SURGICAL DESTINATION Opened in 2019, the Skolnick Surgical Tower at Mount Sinai Medical Center is the most advanced surgical facility in South Florida and houses 12 integrated operating rooms with technology that promotes personalization for both patients and surgeons. In addition to the building’s two-story atrium and public courtyard, each of the 154 all-private patient rooms in the surgical center have a bay view. Mount Sinai’s physicians — recognized as leaders in their fields — are actively involved in medical research and clinical trials, providing patients with the most effective treatment options not readily found at other institutions. Mount Sinai also continues to expand its diagnostic and treatment capabilities with the latest imaging and surgical equipment, giving doctors and nurses the tools they need to provide the most comprehensive care.

Dr. Steve Xydas, Chief of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, performs a cardiac procedure. Dr. Xydas is a graduate of Harvard University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his general surgery and cardiovascular surgery training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

CANCER CARE Mount Sinai’s Comprehensive Cancer Center is a nationally recognized, award-winning facility that utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary focus to care for patients with a variety of cancers.
