You’ll see
THEM GROW As a parent or supporter, you have high standards for the college your student chooses. The right college will lead your student to a career. It will not burden them with student debt. It will be a place where they can grow and be happy. Those are our standards too. Discover what Mount Wachusett offers your family on the next pages.
THEY CAN TRANSFER TO
a great school
Your associate degree or certificate are marketable credentials that can help you get a job not just stepping stones toward a bachelor’s degree. If your student decides to continue their education, having a job will make it a lot easier for them to pay their way through the rest of college or grad school!
We’re a
FRIENDLY PLACE Your student can belong to one of our 34 student clubs and organizations, or start their own! “You can’t just come and take classes. Go in 100% and get involved because it makes a huge difference.” - Kaitlyn Fales, ’18
THEY WON’T
be alone
Students who need help with math, writing, and other classes can get extra academic support for free from the Academic Support Center. Every Mount student also receives up to 10 free hours of online tutoring per semester through MWCC’s online learning system.
They can
CHANGE THE WORLD They will have the opportunity to change the world–and themselves–with study abroad and community service programs.
“My favorite photo. We had just finished a long day at Machu Picchu. There were times where it was almost impossible to continue on but we each pushed one another and made it through TOGETHER!” - Adrienne Bourque, ’19
WORK HARD
play hard
Your student can always pick up a game in the award-winning Bemis Student Center with its interactive gaming stations, big-screen TVs, and ping pong and pool tables.
SAVE BIG ON
a bachelor’s degree
They will save an average of 28% on the cost of a bachelor’s degree at a state college or university when your student completes their associate degree first. Many of our programs contain the core courses for MassTransfer, a statewide initiative that ensures your credits will count when you transfer to a Massachusetts state college or university.
Your student is
ONE OF A KIND
With our small class sizes, our instructors have the time to treat each student as an individual. Every college student has different needs, different interests, and different learning paths. At the Mount, we encourage our students to express themselves and take responsibility for their own learning.
THEIR POTENTIAL
our programs
Vocational training is a great choice for students who want to start work right away. For example, automotive technology students get hands-on experience and instruction at MWCC’s 6-bay garage in Fitchburg, and graduates are well prepared for jobs in the field.
STEM MAJORS
transfer as juniors
It’s not going to be an easy A. But they will gain the skills that prepare them for a bachelor’s degree in STEM at an excellent 4-year college or university. They will get to solve tough problems and learn how to research in our STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) major programs.
Parents are
WELCOME You and your student are invited to attend any of our monthly enrollment events. You’ll meet admissions and advising counselors who can discuss your student’s specific interests, goals, academic history, and college application. With your help, we will create a course schedule that fits around your student’s responsibilities outside of college.
WE HELP YOU
with the paperwork
You will be mentored by faculty who ask you questions like: do you want to teach in an early childhood center or the public school world? And you’ll take classes that give you enough experience to help you know the answer.
MEET MWCC ALUMNUS
Steven Ferry
Alumnus Steven Ferry realized his potential at MWCC and transferred to UMass Amherst. “He was Bs and Cs in high school. But the Mount made him realize that he was better than that. The first time he made the Dean’s list here at the Mount was because of the support system.” - Dawn Ferry, Parent
