Key Trends of the Spring-Summer 2021 Season Fashion designers worked very hard during the quarantine, many even created virtual shows, which in their scale and magnificence were in no way inferior to a live fashion show. We have carefully analyzed the main trends of the SpringSummer season and present them to you.

TIME FOR SLEEP The lockdown could not but affect the inspiration of the designers. Fendi and Jacquemus turned pillows and blankets into dresses and original sconces, while Miuccia Prada released models in bed sheetlike capes. Many designers have turned to the loungewear style in their collections. Cozy and luxurious pajamas featured in Tom Ford and Victoria Beckham collections. There was also transparency here. Designer Anna Sui dressed the models in sheer night dresses.

TRANSPARENCY One of the main Spring-Summer trends is clothing made of transparent materials - dresses, skirts, pants, and tunics. The designers have relied on emancipation and sexuality, choosing tulle, organza, and chiffon for feminine looks. The brands Christian Dior, Jacquemus turned to full transparency, creating transparent not only outerwear but also underwear. Chanel has created interesting looks with multiple layers of sheer fabrics, as well as sheer tunics that are worn over mini dresses or suits. Similar examples also appeared in collections No.21, Elie Saab and Fendi.

MONOCHROME KITS Monochrome, which appeared in the first collections of Jill Sander, in the early 90s, is popular season after season. We also could not fail to mention it, since at least one monochrome set was present in every collection of this season. Some models in Prada and Emporio Armani collections were dressed in full monochrome from head to toe. Tom Ford even created a monochrome look with shiny, dense materials. Brands such as Issey Miyake, Libertine, and Marine Serre have introduced monochrome prints from the top to the accessories.
MASKS OR ACCESSORIES THAT COVER THE FACE The main principle of going out today is “Safety first”. Therefore, masks and various accessories that cover the face are becoming an integral part of today’s image. Designers Collina Strada, Rick Owens, and Marine Serre made this accessory a stylish continuation of the look in every possible way. Many brands such as Paco Rabanne, Maison Margiela, Chanel were also inspired to create their Spring-Summer collections with the aesthetics of covering the face and created, although they look like medical, but very unusual accessories in the form of nets, hats that cover the whole face or headwear with a veil.

The most controversial brand of the last decade came to the fashion pedestal at the end of 2008, thanks to creative director Phoebe Philo. For several years, the public fell in love with each collection of Celine, but at the end of January 2018 everything changed: Edi Slimane came to the post of creative director. His appearance was legendary and stunned fans of the brand, but also sparked even more interest in the LVMH concern. We figure out how Celine managed to gather such overwhelming interest around itself and why the brand will never be the same.

How it all began? Celine was founded in 1945 in Paris by a woman named Celine Vipiana. Together with her husband, she opens a boutique at 52 rue de Malte called “Celine, le bottie pour enfants”, where at the very beginning they sold handmade children’s shoes. The boutique has become one of the most popular in the city; some have even compared it to Mademoiselle Chanel’s boutique. Following children’s shoes, there were female and male models. Among the brand’s customers were royalty, including Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Carolina. The reason for the success was high-quality products combined with highly original designs. 10 years after the founding of the brand, the first fashion show of the company was organized at l`Ecole de l`Opera. The company launched a small advertising train, on the roof of which there was a baby elephant holding a small shoe, which soon became the main symbol of the brand. The first female models in the brand’s collection appear in 1959. These were branded moccasins. The corporate logo in the form of a chariot appears in the company in 1967. The choice of such a badge of the brand is due to the fact that the main material for making shoes was soft pony skin. In 1967, the Celine company mastered a new area of fashion - sportswear. The first collection of which was very popular and was called Couture Sportswear. A few years later, Celine’s debut pret-a-porter collection will be released. The woman who dresses Celine prefers an active lifestyle, but at the same time sophisticated and feminine, who prefers refined things, this is how Madame Vipiana characterized her clients. Celine’s profits skyrocketed in the 70s when the brand’s collections hit the markets of Japan, Switzerland, Italy, and Russia. The increase in production is also due to the merger with the LVMH Group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), the world’s largest supplier of luxury goods. During this period, the brand’s first signature fragrance, Magic, was also released, and the demand was overwhelming.

Сreative directors’ battle In 1997, a young American fashion designer Michael Kors became the brand’s art director. It was thanks to him that Celine began manufacturing products for men. This greatly increased the popularity of the French brand. In 2004, Michael Kors was replaced by Roberto Menichetti. Then this place was taken by a female designer from Croatia named Ivana Omazic. Prior to that, she created collections for the Miu Miu brand. In 2008, the British fashion designer Phoebe Philo, who became famous for creating excellent casual wear, began to successfully create Celine collections. Celine brand products are called «Parisian luxury available to everyone.» These are luxury goods that have low prices for their class. The arrival of Hedi Slimane in 2018 to replace Phoebe Philo at Celine became one of the most talked-about fashion events. The brand change began with Edie archiving all posts on his official Instagram account. Then he removed the apostrophe from the brand logo. This caused a storm of indignation from Celine fans. Many changes took place in the collections of the brand under the guidance of Edi. Many accept these changes with indignation, and many even like the rocky touch in the Celine brand aesthetics. 38

PENTHESILEA Penthesilea, a top model from the Netherlands and a finalist of Miss Europe, the owner of the cosmetics company Be Glamorous, talks about the realities of modeling life during a pandemic, how to start a business and how to combine these two different but at the same time overlapping areas. 44
You are a talented model with over 16 years of experience. Tell us more about your career. Why did you choose the modeling direction? What do you think makes you a successful model? I was scouted while I was shopping with my mother when I was 16. At first, my mother was against it, but when I promised to finish school and continue studying afterwards, she was okay with me modeling as a side job. My mom always went to every job I got. So now I’ve been modeling for over 16 years, and I like it. It’s fun to create beautiful pictures, wear beautiful clothes, travel, and meet new people. What makes me a successful model is that I feel very comfortable in front of the camera. Despite this fact, was not born with this skill, but persistently developed it for these 16 years. We know that you are a finalist of Miss Europe. Tell us about this experience. Did you enjoy participating in the show? Were there any pitfalls? The event was postponed to this year due to the pandemic, so, unfortunately, I cannot share this experience with you. While I can only share the excitement and my feeling of “combat readiness”. Besides modeling you also have your own cosmetic brand. How did you come up with this idea? What kind of cosmetics do you produce? It all started 6 years ago. I’ve always worn hair extensions but couldn’t find the perfect quality, so the idea came to me to do hair extensions myself. After a while, I founded my brand with false eyelashes and cosmetics named Be Glamorous.

We know that modeling itself can be really challenging sometimes as well as managing a personal brand. How do you manage to keep up with everything? Because of the pandemic traveling is more difficult, so modeling is limited as of now. So I have more time and focus on expanding the cosmeticі line. The pandemic situation has thrown a lot of businesses off balance. Has COVID-19 interfered with your brand? I’m happy to say it hasn’t affected my brand luckily. In your deepest desires, is there something you would like to achieve in the nearest couple of years? I love animals, and I would like to have my own animal sanctuary to help and save animals. Another dream is to be on the cover of a well-known fashion magazine.

Influencer, Writer, Designer and Model, how do you balance it all? Can you give some information about yourself and your path to becoming a creative?
You have a big following on Instagram, how did you build it up? What would you say your mission statement for the blog is?
It all started as a hobby. To do something well you must have passion for it. Since childhood, I’ve always loved design, fashion and languages. Moving to the USA and Italy has greatly changed my lifestyle. It has opened my mind and has changed it for the better. For example my old habits have been replaced with new ones which have progressively helped me in my self-realization.
There are many people who work in digital marketing. Attracting and retaining public attention is not easy. The main mission is to provide value for the readers. Naturally it all depends on your goal. For example, the blog I come back to and subscribe to are the ones that help me become a better writer.
Many designers or creative people seem to have a very strong sense of confidence. Is that just a facade? When you feel like a million dollars, self-confidence comes also from within. The people you surround yourself are the best mirrors of how self confident you are. If you don’t like something in it, then change yourself.
It would seem that becoming a blogger is easy and you need to have your own opinion and access to the Internet. Was it easy for you to start a blog and gather an audience? If I say it happened overnight it would be too presumptuous. I started using Instagram years ago without any idea how powerful it could be. There is always something to strive for. I like UK brands and one of the options after the lockdown is to move there for a while for work.

Describe your writing process, from concept to publishing. How do you stay motivated? Daily I have a habit to do at least 3 productive things. The one of these is creating a ritual of writing every day or posting something on social media. Also, I get inspiration from my friends and my life coach, they are my greatest motivators. You have a passion for self-development and learning. In what areas are you developing now? Working on personal development has become an everyday routine. Our soul, mind and body work together. If we hold the peace inside each cell of our body is fully taking the feeling of happiness. It reflects our inner being. Also, I work on entrepreneurial thinking, communicative and language skills. What message would you want to share with young females like yourself? My message is to love yourself and the others with unconditional love. Set high goals without expectations, admire what you do, what you say, how people react to you, what have you already done and what are you planning to do.

The magic of numbers, sacredness and predictions in the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch Hieronymus’s paintings are full of mysteries: they are inhabited by numerous fantastic creatures, as if born on other planets or in parallel worlds. What are the main symbols hidden behind his work and how are all of his predictions currently being lived by humanity? 66
ALIENS IN THE CATHEDRAL... Hieronymus Bosch - the Dutch Renaissance artist who is a genius for his combinations of philosophy, religion, and satire in his art. The artist worked in Hertogenbosch, North Flanders. His real name is Jeroen Antonison van Aken. Ieronimus took a pseudonym for the abbreviated name of his hometown (Den Bosch) in order to isolate himself from the representatives of his family. Hieronymus was lucky all his life, one of which was his engagement to a wealthy heiress, which gave the artist the opportunity to freely develop his work. Hieronymus Bosch was mainly engaged in painting walls in temples and church triptychs. But then mysticism began, since the clergy could not understand in any way the characters the artist portrayed. The first shock for them was the painting of the personage, which descends from heaven through shimmering rays, but the figure had no signs of a person at all. Who is it? Angel? St? Many art critics and researchers believe that this was the first prediction of the artist in the form of aliens descending to earth. 67
THE FUTURE THROUGH THE EYES OF HIERONYMUS BOSCH In Bosch’s church paintings, characters are very different from the usual vision of artists who worked in this subject. Instead of angels with wings, he depicts ordinary people, and he depicts monsters with horns and evil spirits in a very unusual way, for example, birds with pig’s stigmas or devils with a fox’s head. In the triptych Adoration of the Magi, Hieronymus Bosch represents Jesus Christ in a distorted image. The viewer seems to be watching the plot from above. Researchers believe that the vision of The Last Judgment on the artist’s canvases is accurate to episodes from modern wars and cataclysms.

Ira, you are a successful model. Tell us about yourself. Why did you choose to pursue a career as a model? Well, I have a very strong interest in different cultures and this career path has enabled me to satisfy this personal interest of mine. But the more I traveled the more I realized I could make a positive difference in the many places I visited. This has led to my involvement with various local and international nonprofit organizations. Recently I got involved with the nonprofit organization «Compassion is beautiful» which was started by colleagues of mine in the modeling industry. Their main purpose is to facilitate the adoption of rescue animals with people in the fashion world. If we divide the modeling industry into two parts, we can distinguish two main trends - the catwalk model and the fashion model. What do you consider closer to yourself? Where is it easier for you to work? The Fashion industry is changing a lot especially in the area of age. Today you can see models’ careers taking off in their late 20s. We can also see demand in the models in the 40s and 50s. This is a positive change and may relate to the fact that real people want to see real people as models. There is a stereotype that you can become a professional model only from adolescence. You started your activity at the age of 24. Do you agree with this concept? Or, on the contrary, think that the stereotype is not correct? The Fashion industry is changing a lot especially in the area of age. Today you can see models’ careers taking off in their late 20s. We can also see demand in the models in the 40s and 50s. This is a positive change and may relate to the fact that real people want to see real people as models. Your first trip and contract signing took place in Milan. Did this city impress you? Wasn’t it scary to take such a crucial step? Because I already had completed an accounting degree and then worked in business, by the time I arrived in Milan for the first modeling contract I was 24 and somewhat mature from my age. Having said that, arriving in Milan for my first job was very exciting, especially working with many talented photographers and designers and one of the most important fashion cities in the world.

Irina, you were born in Russia, or specifically in Ryazan. Now you live in New York. Why did you move to New York after a while? Would you like to return home? In terms of modeling New York is the best platform for my career. The cultural diversity contributes to a more colorful and interesting creative process which I appreciate. New York is one of the greatest cities and one of the great fashion centers in the world. Your modeling career is truly impressive. You work with numerous major brands. For example ELLE Thailand, Vogue, Nylon, Harper Bazaar, and others. What brands or corporations would you like to try to collaborate with? Yes, I have always wanted to collaborate with brands that embrace sustainability and there are a lot of them. I have seen first hand that designers today are seriously committed to using eco-friendly materials and ethical techniques. I do not believe it is a short term trend but the reality of the fashion industry now and into the future.
In connection with the pandemic, a huge number of people were left without work, and the situation was also reflected in the business sector. Has the world problem affected you? Has COVID-19 interfered with the implementation of any projects? Covid has brought out the creative and inventive best in all of us. Look around and see how everyone is adapting. This is also true in modeling. For example, normally there is a large team involved in a professional photoshoot. But right now clients try to minimize people on the set and models required to come prepared including doing their makeup and hair. Let’s imagine yourself in 5 years. What do you think can change in such an amount of time? Would you like to change something in the present? I see myself still being involved in the modeling and fashion industry in 5 years where it includes photoshoots and runway or where other sides on the camera. I would also like to contribute my time to helping young people come into modeling for a successful and satisfying career as I have.
