Movin’... lifestyle

31 Dream Street by Lisa Jewell

10 Reasons Not To Fall In Love by Linda Green The title of the book doesn’t do this story justice, and the depth of the text was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. You get completely drawn into Jo and Dan’s lives; the chapters where you read about Dan’s childhood are shocking and emotional, and the one thing that struck us was how accurately the writer could describe how a six-yearold thinks and talks. The writer is very witty and her sense of humour made us laugh out loud many times. The journey that Jo, her son Alfie and Dan go through, will have you enthralled to the very end. Also, it’s set in and around Manchester, which made a refreshing change from London. We would recommend this title to anyone and we can’t wait for her next book. By far, this is the best read we’ve had in a long time – and we read a lot!

If this book doesn’t become a film one day, we’ll be shocked. It’s a fantastically woven tale of the lives of the inhabitants of Peacock House, owned by Toby, overlooked by Leah and recently left by Gus, who turns both their lives around. This is a beautifully written book that really draws the reader into the lives of the main characters, and by the end of the book we were genuinely caught up in a desire for happy endings for all of them. It’s a really refreshing angle for the lead character of a Chick-Lit title to be a man. Though not overly sentimental, there is much poignant soul-searching for all of the characters involved, and the author carefully handles the twists and turns of their lives with grace. The feeling that we really care about what the future holds for Con and Daisy, Melinda and Ja, and of course Toby and Leah, has stayed with us since we turned the last page. Thank you, Lisa.
