SFO - A Journey Tribute recreates the experience of a 1980’s concert, playing all the Journey hits that you know and love with a special salute to Kansas & Foreigner. The band is made up of top notch musicians from Nashville, Florida and Minnesota who bring the highest level of musicianship to the audience. SFO has played festivals, fairs, casinos and major concert venues. Gabe Jacobs, front man, delivers powerful vocals to his audience by closely emulating the vocals and stage presence of legendary Steve Perry. SFO truly has become a phenomenon, a definite fan favorite, selling out venues and quickly earning a reputation for one of the best tribute acts touring. This band will transport you back to the 80’s and the glorious times of arena rock, they always deliver a professional and entertaining experience for any crowd and event!

The Shalo Lee Band Headed up by talented and electric singer/songwriter Shalo Lee on lead vocals, this high energy country rock band has engaged and captivated audiences throughout the region playing fairs, festivals, outdoor events, street dances, private parties, top clubs, and casinos. SHERWIN LINTON An Entertainer’s Entertainer, Mr. Versatility, Mid America’s Number One Entertainer, A Nationally Unknown Superstar, Mid-America’s Country Music Legend, The Greatest Show On Earth… These are a few of the cliches and phrases that have been used to attempt to describe what the name Sherwin Linton has meant to his fans, his friends, and his peers. Sherwin learned to accompany his singing while chording on the piano and guitar as a child, and at sixteen, he had his own radio show on KWAT Radio in Watertown, SD. Sherwin and his band “The Rocketeers” were soon in demand all over eastern South Dakota. Moving to Minneapolis in 1957, Sherwin formed the “Fender Benders” which became a very popular ballroom and nightclub act that rocked and rolled great audiences from Minnesota to the west coast in the early to mid-sixties. Having had several Rock-A-Billy records successfully released in the mid-west, Sherwin journeyed to Nashville in 1966 where he cut “Cotton King”, a song that catapulted him to the top of the Country music charts. Roy Acuff became aware of Sherwin’s talents when they toured together in 1968. Roy introduced Sherwin to his partner Wesley Rose, who had guided the careers of such illuminaries as the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, and Hank Williams.

An infectious smile, charming personality, and sincerity have won him a loyal legion of friends and fans all over the United States and abroad. Sherwin often plays over 250 dates a year and among his many unique accomplishments is a perfect attendance record. He has never missed a scheduled performance. Sherwin’s show is complimented by his lovely and talented wife and vocalist, Pam Linton, and his great band “The Cotton Kings.”

As for the future, Sherwin is optimistic, saying, “I thank God for what he’s given me, and I feel the best is yet to come.”

Seniors are at risk for heat stroke during hot weather Older adults need to be more careful of overheating and heat stroke because their bodies can’t adjust to high temperatures as well as younger bodies can. Also, seniors are more likely to start out dehydrated. In fact, 40% of heat-related deaths in the U.S. were among people over 65, according to a University of Chicago Medical Center study. Seniors are more vulnerable to heat because: Their bodies don’t adjust as well to sudden changes in temperature. Chronic medical conditions can change their body responses to heat. Prescription medicines can impair their body’s ability to regulate temperature or could actually prevent sweating. That’s why it’s best for older adults to stay indoors and avoid strenuous activities in hot weather. To keep seniors safe and comfortable, we’ve rounded up 10 practical, senior-friendly ways to help them stay cool indoors.

Not all the kids who show at the fair live on a farm. Some buy their show animal and have it stay at a local farm. If your kids are interested in showing this is something to consider.

10 ways for seniors to stay cool in hot weather 1 Drink plenty of cool water throughout the day (don’t rely on feeling thirsty!) and avoid alcohol and caffeine. 2 Eat cooling snacks like homemade popsicles (with cupcake liner as drip catcher), frozen peas, or slightly frozen grapes. 3 Eat light, cold meals like chicken or pasta salad instead of heavy, hot dishes like pot roast. 4 Place a cool washcloth on the back of the neck and a pan of cool water close by to periodically re-cool the towel. 5 Sit with feet in a pan of cool (but not too cold) water. 6 Keep the house as cool as possible by keeping shades closed during the hottest part of the day and using inexpensive solar curtains. 7 Wear layers of lightweight clothing in light colored cotton so it’s easy to adjust to the temperature throughout the day by removing or adding layers. 8 Visit a public cooling center like a recreation center, senior center, library, coffee shop, or shopping mall. 9 Take a cool shower, bath, or washcloth wipe-down. For maximum cooling, keep the water just below body temperature. 10 Cover up with a flexible ice blanket – use a thin towel to keep the ice away from direct skin contact
