The 2024 Iron Byron Member-Guest tournament has concluded, and as expected, I have yet to secure a victory in this prestigiousevent.Despitemypoorperformance,IhaveseldombeenprouderofourClubthanduringtheMember-Guest:less thanoneweekafterHurricaneHelene,thegolfcoursewaslushandimmaculate(thankstoScottKennonandhisteam!);Tyler Blaschakmanagedthetournamentwiththeexpertiseofaseasonedproandintroducedseveralnotableimprovements(thank youtotheGolfStaff!);andChefJoshandhisteamdeliveredoutstandingfoodandbeverageservice.
Overontheothersideofcampus,weareexcitedtoannouncethatAustinSolizhasjoinedusasthenewDirectorofRacquets Weareconfidentthathewillenhanceouralreadygreatprograms Ifyouhaven'talready,pleasetakeamomenttowelcome AustintoMPCC WearealsolookingforwardtothecompletionofourRacquetCenterredevelopmentproject Asyouread thisletter,theendoftheprojectshouldbewithinsight
RegardingtheClubhouse,ourrecentinvestmenthasbeenverysuccessful.Guestsareconsistentlypraisingtherenovation,and accordingtoarecentarticleintheCharlotteBusinessJournal,MPCCisnowthelargestnonprofitcountryclubinNorth Carolina in terms of assets. This is a significant achievement, and congratulations are in order for everyone involved. Operationally,theClubisexceedingbudgetexpectationsfortheyear,andafullscheduleofholidayeventsshouldhelpus maintainthatposition.
I anticipate that in the years to come, our planned acquisition of the land across Roswell Avenue will be seen as a major milestoneintheClub’shistory Althoughwearestillintheinitialphaseofconsideringpotentialusesandhavenotmadeany concreteplansyet,thisadjacentpropertypresentsfutureopportunitiesforourClubthatwerepreviouslyunimaginable
