We are going to record a video in English about food in the UK Luis and Andrea What is a typical English breakfast? It consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, mushrooms and baked beans. However, nowadays the typical English breakfast normally consists of a bowl of cereals, toast, orange juice and a cup of coffee. Many people, especially children, eat a bowl of cereal.
Cristian and Teresa What time do British people normally have lunch? Between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. What is a typical British lunch? Many children at school and people at work have a 'packed lunch'. This typically consists of a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a drink. The 'packed lunch' is kept in a plastic container.
Svetlana and Pablo López What do British people usually drink? Tea is traditionally prepared in a warmed china teapot, adding one spoonful of tea per person and one for the pot. Most people in Britain like their tea strong and dark, but with a lot of milk.
Cristian and Teresa What is the afternoon tea? It’s the traditional 4 o'clock tea and it is a small meal, not a drink. Traditionally it consists of tea (or coffee) served with: o Scones served with cream and jam (this is known as a cream tea) o Cucumber sandwiches o Assorted pastries Afternoon tea is not common these days because most adults go out to work

Miguel and Paula What time do British people normally have dinner? Between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.
Jorge Gil and Laura What typical things can you eat in the UK? Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding o This dish is not usually a dessert like other puddings. It is part of the main course. Yorkshire pudding is made from flour, eggs and milk and is baked in the oven. It is usually served with roast meat, vegetables and gravy. Toad-in-the-hole o This dish consists of sausages covered in batter and roasted. It is similar to Yorkshire Pudding, but with sausages placed in the batter before cooking.
Héctor and Noemí
Fish and chips o It is served with chips (fried potatoes), salt and vinegar. It is a traditional take-away food. Traditionally, you eat it using your fingers, taking the fish straight out of the newspaper which they were wrapped in. Nowadays they give you small wooden forks and the fish and chips are wrapped in more hygienic paper. Cornish pasty o It is a type of pie that comes from Cornwall in the South West England. It is filled with meat, potato, onion and swede. It has a semicircular shape. In the days of the miners, used to be half salty and half sweet. This way it was like a main course and dessert all in one.
Iván, Paula and Astor What food can you typically eat in a pub? Ploughman's Lunch. It consists of a piece of cheese, ham slices, a bit of pickle and pickled onion, apples, salad, bread and butter Shepherds' Pie. It is made with minced lamb and vegetables topped with mashed potato. Bubble & Squeak. It was typically made from cold vegetables that had been left over from a previous meal, often the Sunday roast. The main ingredients are potato and cabbage, carrots and peas, but you can add other vegetables. The name is a description of the action and sound made during the cooking process.

Alejandro, Alba and Miguel Do you know the names of some puddings or desserts? Spotted dick. It contains dried fruit and it is normally served with custard, butter and brown sugar. Trifle. It is made with layers of sponge cake alternate with custard, jam or fruit and whipped cream. Apple Crumble. It is often served with cream, ice cream or custard. Bread and butter pudding. This traditional British pudding has layers of bread with butter, raisins and a mixture of egg and milk. You normally eat it with cream or custard. The Victoria Sponge – It is a very simple cake named after Queen Victoria, because she liked to have this with her afternoon tea. A typical Victoria sponge consists of raspberry jam and whipped double cream or vanilla cream forming a kind of sandwich with the cake.
Álvaro and Ángela What food was discovered or invented in England? 1762: The sandwich was invented in England. In the south of England there is a town called Sandwich. John Montagu, the Earl of Sandwich invented a small meal that could be eaten with one hand while he continued playing cards. 1902: Marmite was invented in England. Marmite is a dark browncoloured spread with a very strong flavour. It is definitely a love-it-orhate-it type of food.
