The heavy duty extruded aluminum profile is ideal for demanding applications where numerous and / or heavy fixtures are needed.

3 Circuit Track 2009

Introduction

When the ultimate level of control is required, MP Lighting’s 3-Circuit Track System provides the solution. Three circuits offer endless merchandising and ambience creation opportunities. Certain fixtures can be shut-off while others can be set to intensely illuminate objects. Maximum control and reduced energy costs make this 3-Circuit Track System an excellent choice.

5

Track Mechanical Information

Fastening of track at 3’-3” intervals.

Care should be taken by the installer to ensure that the track is installed and fastened to the ceiling in accordance with the appropriate National Electrical Code and local code requirements. MP Lighting recommends that the track be securely fastened at intervals of no more than 3’-3” spacing. Although the individual point-loading of the track is a function of the adapter selection (10-20lbs), the mounting interval of the track plays an important role in determining the maximum overall mechanical load which can be suspended from the track.

Given fixture spacings (d) of 8”, the maximum fixture load would be 11lbs.

Mounting Points 4’ Length = 2 Mounting points 8’ Length = 3 Mounting points 12’ Length = 4 Mounting points

Polarity The 3-Circuit Track System is directional sensitive. It has fixed connectors which must be selected correctly when designing the track layout. The track has a ridge along one side, which must be aligned with the the ridge on the corresponding connector.

Track Conductor & Electrical Ratings The 3-Circuit Track System utilizes four copper conductors, one for the neutral and three for live circuits. The track body serves as the ground connection. The copper conductors have circular cross section, and are 0.088 in diameter, making them approximately 20% larger in area than AWG#12. This extra gauge provides additional margin for loading of the neutral conductor. Conductors: 4 Conductor size: > 12-gauge Current ratings: Single phase: 20A total Three phase: 20A/Circuit Voltage rating: 120V

Electrical The 3-Circuit Track System can be used in single , double or triple circuit mode. In each case the limiting factor is the current capacity of the neutral which is rated at 20A. If wired under single phase conditions the 3 live circuits must be fed from the same 20A circuit breaker to ensure the current capacity of the neutral is not exceeded.

Track Mounting Options The 3 Circuit Track has been designed for easy surface mountaing on ceilings. The track comes with punched fastening holes. The track can also be suspended with suspension cable or threaded rod as well as wall mounted.

Tracks are supplied in standard 4ft, 8ft and 12ft lengths. They can be field cut and joined together. Connectors come with a guide lug which fits into the track’s off-center groove to ensure polarity. The connector is then securely fastened with a lock screw.

The track also has a ridge aligned underneath the neutral conductor as a visual indicator for ease of installation.

Field Cutting Power Wire Bending Tool

Code

3CTPWB Track can be field cut using a circular saw with a non-ferrous blade (designed for cutting aluminum) or with a hacksaw and mitre box. After the track has been cut to the desired length, the conductors have to be bent at a 90Ëš angle using the Power Wire Bending Tool (3CTPWB). The conductors can be measured and finished using the plastic gauge at the other end of the tool. The conductors have been bent correctly when the plastic gauge sits flush with the track end.

Luminous efficacy can also reduce other operating costs such as air conditioning because less total watts are required to accomplish the same luminace as compared to traditional incandescent sources. Recent developments by lamp manufacturers to reduce the physical size of the ceramic metal halide lamp have allowed the design of modern aesthetically pleasing architectural fixtures to light shops, retail displays, public buildings, museums or anywhere traditional track lighting with incandescent sources are used.

3 Circuit Track 2009

Heads & Fixtures

21st Century Lighting. Ceramic metal halide lamps are an energyefficient option to incandescent and halogen sources with higher luminous efficacy and a longer life. This means lower costs due to less fixtures used to light a given area, as well as reduced maintainance time needed for relamping (average life of CMH lamp is 9000 hours).

For a quick lighting calculation, divide the wattage of an incandescent lamp that you want to replace by four to choose the wattage of a replacement compact fluorescent lamp that will achieve similar light output. A compact fluorescent lamp also has an average rated life of 12,000 hours resulting in less maintainance costs. Pendants can also be ordered with a medium base for use with incandescent lamps or screw-in compact fluorescent lamps. Some models are also available with an LED lamp source.

Glass Pendants

All of our 3-Circuit Track Pendants have been designed for use with compact fluorescent lamps which are available with 3000K color temperature and 82 CRI.

Sustainable Practice

Energy consumption is a major consideration in the design of lighting fixtures at MP Lighting. In a typical building 40% of electrical consumption comes from lighting, so with the right lighting choices there is a large opportunity to conserve energy. MP Lighting helps customers take the opportunity to save energy and money through more efficient use of light.

Our products use the latest technology with high quality lamps. They use less power and have longer lives limiting the impact on the environment. Our LED product can provide 50,000 hours of light. This is 50 times longer than most incandescent lights and over 5 times longer than compact fluorescent lights. LEDs contains no mercury or moving parts that could shatter, break or leak contaminates into the environment. MP Lighting’s fixtures and systems are durable, maintainable and are built with recyclable materials to have a long product life.

MP Lighting’s LED and Fluorescent products are registered with BC Hydro’s Power Smart program which recognizes energy efficient products and makes financial incentives available for using our products and other companies that are registered. We are currently working with other provincial and state Hydro/Energy Corporations to recognize our products as energy efficient lighting solutions.

In the company’s headquarters large windows and glass walls maximize the use of daylight offering energy savings as well as productivity and health benefits.
