MACIEJ PRZASNYSKI
My name is Maciej and I am a recent graduate from the University of Westminster with a RIBA Part I Architecture BA (Hons) degree. I am a highly motivated individual with a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.
One of my favourite aspects of architecture is how buildings create unique experiences and qualities, particularly through the way light interacts with spaces to shape atmospheres. I am drawn to how fine details in designs can elevate and affect everyday life, making architecture both functional and impactful.
This portfolio showcases a selection of my academic projects and work completed during internships. Prior to continuing my studies, I am looking to gain more practical experience in a practice where I can contribute as a valuable team member through my professionalism, communication skills, enthusiasm, work ethic and technical abilities.

01. Laboratory and Modulator of Ephemeral Ideas
Location: Somerset House, London
Theme: Development within a Conservation Site
Stage of Education: Year 3 Semester 2
Skills: Hand Drawing, Model Making, Photoshop, Rhino 3D + Grasshopper
A challenge to Neoclassical architecture and conservation in relation to light. Utilising overlooked light qualities enhances the architectural experience. Within the Grade I listed building the construction classifies changes over time and removes the spaces that are detached from the heritage.
The highly irregular resulting form will utilise diagrid structure to weave through the new building. The space lined with mirrored surfaces actively casts shadows, creating unique ephemeral moments and atmospheres within the architecture, curated to the sun path.
02. Translating the Stamp Room
Location: Somerset House, London
Theme: Experimental Theoretical Project
Stage of Education: Year 3 Semester 1
Skills: Historical Research, Model Making, Photoshop, Rhino 3D, Vectorworks
The objective of the experimental project was to investigate the stamp room, located in Somerset House. This consisted of a forensic and archaeological analysis of the room’s historical records and paintings.
The investigation explores the geometrical, structural and contextual elements of the Stamp room, through casting, model making, detailed drawing and a variety of different methods.
The architectural proposal consists of a guide for formwork as well as scaffold, which will be used in order to recreate the Stamp Room (an area of Somerset House). Where the construction process becomes an exhibition of its own. Furthermore, taking this concept outside. Where its geometrical qualities are retained and projected through a shadow. Thus, the theoretical proposal shows a story of the construction of the 2030 Stamp Room.

03. Work in Practice
Location: London, United Kingdom
Theme: Professional Work
Stage of Education: During Study breaks Skills: Research, Model Making, Photoshop, Rhino 3D, Vectorworks
Throughout my education, I had the opportunity to work in a variety of small practices in London. These experiences provided me with valuable insights into the professional life and workflow of architects. Whilst working within small practices, I was given a lot of responsibility across different phases of projects, allowing me to learn how to efficiently balance a wide range of tasks.
One of my notable accomplishments was submitting a successful planning application from scratch within a tight timeframe. The practices I worked at focused on

smaller-scale projects, including extensions and renovations, working in RIBA stages 2 through 6. The quick workflow of projects gave me a hands of experience in many areas such as research on building regulations, drawing and editing plans, creating visualisations as well as consulting directly with clients and contractors.

The brief asked to create a community centre building as a part of previously designed initial community living room (see 04). Due to the successful programmes of the previous proposal, further expansion of the project was performed.
The new programmes included areas where not only people could borrow tools, but they could also use the workshop to become familiar with the use of them as well as find potential job opportunities using said tools. The proposal creates an ecosystem, which the locals can benefit from.
Additionally, in order to preserve the Walworth market, a part of the proposal is dedicated to creating a more permanent area of the market, further expanding it and providing safety to the vendors. Thus, the social sustainability allows to organically incorporate the proposal within the site.
05. Walworth Living Room
Location: Walworth, London
Theme: Community Living Room
Stage of Education: Year 2 Semester 1
Skills: Hand Drawing, Model Making, Rhino + Grasshopper, Photoshop, Illustrator
The project brief asked to create a community living room for Walworth specifically the Walworth Market areas.
Through various mapping exercises it became clear that the area could benefit from both a library as well as a DIY outlet. The variety of uses within tool and book exchange allow for a place, which ultimately improves the living quality of the locals.
Creating accessibility of more expensive and less accessible tools, which some might need only once, therefore instead of buying them, they can simply rent them providing small a financial relief within the area. Additionally, the book exchange area offers a more quiet area both audibly and visibly within a busy market.

Photography allows to view the world in a different way, which can be used for both experimentation as well as documentation.
Working with both DSLR and Film Cameras for experimentation of mediums and further knowledge of photography as a whole. The particular areas of photography, which intrigue me the most are street photography as well as architectural photography.
Street photography gives the opportunity to tell a story through a still frame; it gives the ability to capture a process or action in its raw and natural form.
Architectural photography allows to show atmosphere and moments within or around buildings in a unique and intriguing way. Some of which, would not be otherwise seen.
