Motion passed with none opposed. REVIEW OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS: Treasurer, Megan Hirschman presented the financial statement for the period ending September, 2016. The total assets of the Association as of September 30, 2016 are listed at $417,171.04; the total liabilities at $111,882.08 and the total members' equity is listed at $305,288.96. The net income as of the end of September is listed at $87,617.05 compared to $83,181.50 for the same period in 2015. Chris Perniciaro made a motion to accept the September financial report as presented. Kathy Christensen seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. Megan Hirschman presented the financial statement for the period ending October, 2016. The total assets of the Association as of October 31, 2016 are listed at $366,486.58; the total liabilities at $74,597.14 and the total members' equity is listed at $291,889.44. Morgan Warda seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. Megan indicated that we are slightly ahead of last year. She cautioned the Board that there will be additional expenses for 2017 with hiring a new show management company. She also mentioned that there were items paid for totaling about $8,000 that are not normal expenses such as the new copy machine, new jumps and new computers. TREASURER'S REPORT: The September, 2016 checks written report was presented. There were checks written totaling $99,407.72 for the month. Kathy Christensen made a motion to approve the September checks written report. www.MIQuarterHorse.com

Jeff West seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. The October, 2016 checks written report was presented. There were checks written totaling $57,831.31 for the month. Monty Montgomery made a motion to approve the October checks written report. Morgan Warda seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. Megan Hirschman presented the AR and AP summary as of November 8. Chris Perniciaro made a motion to accept the summary report. Monty Montgomery seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. PRESIDENTS REPORT: President Weitzel reminded everyone to get approval for expenditures prior to doing something that is not part of a normal show/committee expense. Turning invoices in after the fact is not acceptable. She congratulated the Harvest Classic committee on a successful show and commended them on handling an important issue timely and professionally, as well as the success of the potato bar. The Executive Committee met in October to conduct business prior to the board meeting and determine what needed to come to the board to make the most of the time during the meeting. She said the Executive Committee has functioned well and she liked the availability to call on them when necessary. Two letters were received for the Vice President Elect. Per the current constitution, they will be voted on at the first meeting of the year. It was also asked how an interested party runs for an open board position. They need to be a current member in good standing. It is not necessary that they show. Contact the office and turn in a photo and a biography by the deadline. VICE PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Vice President Moody stated that she would run through the committees that have quick reports before going on to the lengthy ones. There is a lot of material to cover. OFFICE REPORT: Executive Secretary Kris Woroniecki presented the tentative schedule for the 2017 Board meetings. Kris also requested feedback on the MQHA Convention. Megan Hirschman made a motion that the board members receive a complimentary dinner ticket for the banquet as has happened in prior years. Jeff West seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. Kris explained that there is $1500 on the balance sheet set labeled MacLay Scholarship. Megan Hirschman made a motion that a scholarship application be put together and promoted on the website and on Facebook with a deadline of January 6. The recipients' names will be announced during the awards ceremony. Meggen Baynes seconded the motion. Motion passed with none opposed. Jeff and Jacque will begin to work on it and meet with the executive committee to finalize. Kris also mentioned to the board that Colleen Giamo passed away recently. Colleen is the mother of Hayley Giamo who has shown with us. A card of condolences was sent

from the Association. COMMITTEE REPORTS AWARDS: Monty Montgomery stated that the year-end awards budget is approximately $35,000. There are 128 classes that are acknowledged from 1st to 6th place. With the addition of more classes, the monetary value of each placing gets further diluted. The MQHA board will need to make some decisions for next year about increasing the awards budget or finding places to save some money. There was discussion about the High Point Saddles and if that is the best use of the money. The committee will continue to discuss this. CLINIC: Trevor Barnes stated that he is going to get with Taylor Fabus about the clinics that will be held on February 4 with the tack sale. MQHA Welcome 2017 – Congratulations to everyone on your 2016 achievements! As many of you may know, my term as MQHA President has come to an end. The last two years have been very fullling for me personally. I was faced with many challenges and lots of exciting opportunities to help our Association grow and continue to prosper as one of the leading associations in our industry. I don’t think people realize what being a volunteer on our board or any board, truly means until they throw their name in the ring, and especially don’t know what it’s like to be an ofcer. All of your directors, past and present, put in countless hours of volunteering and grapple with making decisions that will affect you, our members. I was honored to serve you these last two years and hope that my contributions, many of which occurred behind the scenes, continue to make a positive impact. I was supported by an awesome group of directors these last two years and an exemplary Vice President whom I truly believe loves MQHA almost as much as her own family. As I step away from my role, I am excited to “pass the gavel” to Jacque Moody, and know I leave our association in great hands with Jacque and the 2017 board of Directors. Best Wishes, Tiffany Weitzel

MQHA As we say goodbye to 2016 and welcome in 2017, we are hoping to see a lot of you at the Convention and at the shows throughout the year; the first being the Easter Eggstravaganza, which looks like it will be bigger and better than ever. Your 2017 Board of Directors is a group of highly dedicated and talented individuals that give freely and unselfishly of their time throughout the year to manage the Association including the horse shows, Convention, Stallion Service Sale, Futurity, Tack Sale and the Youth programs. Supporting this board is our Executive Secretary, Kris Woroniecki and Rachel Nicholson. Our point secretary is Andi Knapp. For the first time since 2001, we will have a new team managing our horse shows and I hope you will welcome Liz and Kurtis Gear from EKG Equine Services. Your patience will be appreciated as they become acclimated and get to know all of you; you’ll still see Kris at some of the shows working in the office and just visiting; but for the first time in over 16 years she’s decided to pull back a little and enjoy her lake house and her family. Please take the time to talk to the members of your board; share your thoughts, ideas and thank them for their untiring dedication. The 2017 Directors and the Committees they chair, co-chair and work will be finalized at Convention and publicized for the membership. MQHA is always looking for volunteers to help on any of the committees. Please be sure to contact the MQHA office or any of the Board members and let us know you want to be of assistance! Happy New Year, Jacquelin Moody

After 50 years, there will no longer be a printed edition of the MQHA Journal After careful consideration, the board of directors at the MQHA has decided to discontinue printing the MQHA Journal effective with this edition, January 2017. The April 2017 MQHA Journal will still be produced, but will only be available online.
