Johana Ramirez

Name: Mae Jemison Birth Date: October 17, 1956 Death: -not deceasedEarly Life: She was born in Alabama but her family moved when she was 3. She graduated Morgan Park High School in 1973 as a consistent honor student. She entered Stanford University on a National Achievement Scholarship. Interesting Facts: She was the first African-American female astronaut She joined the Peace Corps. When a disaster occurred to the program she had applied for she had to apply again the next year and she was one of the 15 candidates chosen from a field about 2,000. The person I chose, Mae Jemison, deserves to be included into the Black History Hall of Fame because Mae Jemison has done several accomplishments. She is mostly known for being the first African-American female astronaut. That being an accomplishment itself she’s never limited herself to just one thing. She’s also worked as a doctor and later joined the Peace Corps. Mae Jemison is someone who could be a role model for people. I think she’s important and should most definitely be in the Black History Wall of Fame. It’d be incomplete without her.
