A NOTE FROM RPI PROMOTIONS

WELCOME TO 2016! In this new era of the cattle industry, we need now, more than ever, to hit the ground running to keep improving our genetics and service. This coming year, as we get down to the business of raising cows and calves, owning the good ones is paramount. There is so much information out there, from handling your cattle, to breeding and marketing them. The success you have will basically come down to customer service and genetics in both the registered cattle business and in the commercial cattle industry. Buyers of commercial cattle will become more astute in their purchases. Supplying your marketing source with knowledge of the genetic makeup of your calves will be a part of the customer service that will make your product sell higher. Success will begin with superior genetics and the ability to be flexible in marketing your calves. Knowing what the buyers of your next set of calves are looking for, will be very helpful in marketing. Asking your marketing source, “what the majority of the buyers are looking for,” and aligning your product to fit those specifications will be an additional step towards receiving top dollar for your commercial calves. Let us not forget that in the commercial cattle industry a large portion of income throughout the year comes from cull cattle. The ability to plan your operation around the best season to market those extra cattle can mean extra dollars at year’s end. We have had an excellent opportunity the past few years to sell our cull cattle at record prices. Studying the history of when the demand for weigh-up bulls and cows are at the highest, and having your cull cattle ready to sell at that time, could make your efforts pay high dividends. If there are still cattle in your herd that need culled, another option is to sell them now and replace them with superior cattle. The market on the right cattle for your region is at a very reasonable price. Why not own a great set of replacement heifers and cows? At these prices, now is the time! As you go through this issue of the Cattlemen’s Invite you will see many programs throughout the region with a variety of genetics. These progressive registered herds will play a huge part in the coming years of producing superior cattle that are backed by hundreds of years of genetic selection. We invite you to call them and get more information about their individual programs. They want to help you succeed. If we can be of help in marketing your cattle, give us a call.

Thanks again for your support, trust, and friendship.
