A NOTE FROM RPI PROMOTIONS
We’re getting them on the ground! As we drive throughout the area attending sales, doing herd visits, and taking pictures for sale promotion, we see that February has been a pretty busy time for calving in our area. Those that have calved, look healthy and are enjoying the warmer days as we get closer to March. The commercial cattle in our area are mostly March calvers, and the next few weeks look to be above normal temperatures. (There will be some wind!) The extended forecast for the Cattlemen’s Invite area shows normal and above normal precipitation. Hopefully it comes in April rain showers. As we close out the February 2016 bull sales in the area, sales results have been very positive. We are selling a great number of bulls, although they are not at the 2015 sale prices, they are selling on a very positive note. There are still commercial cattlemen demanding bulls that excel in genetic quality and phenotype. We have sold an outstanding number of weigh-up bulls this past year and I look for the demand for bulls to be higher than average throughout the remainder of the bull sale season. Although the commercial cattleman is using strict bidding dollars to buy bulls this year, they are still bringing good prices. If you have a sale coming up, get to know your customers’ needs for this year. Take the time to look at their cattle and be willing to help them with their genetic seedstock needs. We have bull sales almost every day, and the quality from one to the other is high. We hope you study the offering in this month’s Cattlemen’s Invite. As you look through the pages, they are easy to read, brilliant in color, and can easily be referenced back throughout the month. We are promoting an outstanding set of bulls this month that can work in many environments. Don’t hesitate to call these seedstock producers and “pick their brain” as to what would work in your commercial herd. If we can be of help in your purchases of bulls and females give us a call. Our family has exciting news with the arrival of a new grandson, Charles Gregory Kruger, who was born February 1st, (Angus day at the Black Hills Stock Show). Charlie is pictured here with his sister, Samantha. He is our fourth grandchild. Tami and I also have grandchildren Gage 11, and Taryn 9. Thanks again for your support, trust, and friendship.
