whole family at Senn Red Angus would like to invite you to our 6th annual production sale. It has been an honor doing business with great people from many states. If you are new to our program, we hope you will find our program and sale to be both a hospitable and pleasurable experience.

The quality in this catalog runs strong throughout. These bulls will accommodate many different operations. In this year’s offering you will find we have added some fresh genetics. This cowherd has been running in a not so easy environment, from a hot dry summer walking a long ways to dams that have marginal water to extreme bitter cold winter grazing. We feel we’ve bred these cattle to have foot quality, fertility, good temperaments and lasting udders. We expect our cows to raise a good calf in a timely manner and to breed up. We don’t settle for average registered females. Our cows need to mother a calf, without that there is no hope of raising useful genetics. We cut a certain number of bulls and are not afraid to do so. We are always conscientious about the culling process. We realize registered cows that don’t do their job must be sold. Come early February 25th to preview the bulls and join us for a wonderful complimentary chuck wagon style meal at 12:30 MT. Thank you for your interest in our program. THE SENN RED ANGUS GUARANTEE AND INSURANCE

The bulls will be insured for one full year with Martin-Trudeau Insurance at no cost to the buyer. Senn Red Angus will pay the premium for the most comprehensive livestock policy, covering the bulls at 100%. This policy will cover Mortality, if the bull dies or has to be put down due to a life threatening injury.

BULL DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY

We do not creep feed our calves on summer pasture. Although with the dry conditions, we did put out only a small number of SmartLic tubs for both cows and calves. The bulls have been developed in an 8-10 acre trap pasture to ensure plenty of exercise. We don’t push them hard, but rather use a balanced low mega cal ration consisting of grass hay, silage, alfalfa, corn and full energy beans. We plan to take all of the bulls home after the sale and continue developing them until the first part of April at no additional charge. We plan to start delivering bulls in early April. We offer free delivery to in state buyers and will accommodate buyers at further distances. Anyone wanting to take their bulls home on sale day are certainly welcome to do so.

TERMS

The terms of the sale are cash. All settlements will be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale and before any cattle will be released. We will follow the Terms and Conditions set forth by the Red Angus Association and the American Angus Association. Announcements made by the seller on sale day take precedence over any statements printed in this catalog or advertisement.

Lot 1 is one of our most complete and balanced bulls in the offering. Not only does he have the athleticism, depth and hair that we like, he also has the profile and characteristics of what a red angus bull should be. Lot 1’s birth to yearling ratios are 91 to 112. He’s been a pasture favorite all summer. Every daughter (4 of them) that 317 has raised is currently in our herd. 317 is bred for an early calf this spring at the age of 10. We purchased the 175 cow in 2011 at the mature cow dispersal from Milk Creek Red Angus. Whether you are in the registered or commercial business, Lot 1 has the pedigree to be your herd sire for years to come.

Lot 2 is one of the longest bodied and most docile Copenhagen sons we will offer. To our amazement, Lot 2 was the only bull born of the 431 flush. The nine flush mate sisters are phenotypically stout and pretty in the replacement pen and usually are the first to catch your eye.

431 is one of the most attractive cows on the ranch. Her gentle disposition, good feet and flawless udder are what made her donor worthy. Lot 2 will be a great outcross and great addition to any operation. Refer to page 8 to see his full sisters as baby calves. His full sisters were also a favorite at the Pen of 3 show at the Faith Stock Show and Rodeo last August.

Lot 3 is the natural calf by 431 and is one of the stoutest bulls in this sale. His dam 431 is found not only on this page but also on the front cover. Supreme 0721 was chosen in Crump’s final sale and added to our lineup for his added growth and performance. His dam was one of their very best cows. Lot 3 has a real easy going disposition.

Here is a big ribbed stout made son of Supreme. This bull has been stout from the very beginning and always caught my eye during pasture visits. This bull’s mother is the maternal sister to Lot 1. Three generations of trusted cow family are what highlights his genetic makeup. Lot 4 boasts a weaning weight of 643# from a hard working 3 year old. Pretty impressive work by both, considering dam water was shallow and the summer was hot and dry. This bull will make a difference in someone’s program adding hip and length.

Lot 5 is a big topped stout Copenhagen son with plenty of shape, boasting a 660# weaning weight. We flushed the 103 cow to Copenhagen resulting in 3 sons and 8 daughters. The 103 donor is a super footed, easy keeping, docile mature cow. She also has an udder that is extremely sound and milks hard. Lot 18 and 19 are his full brothers. The 8 full sisters to Lot 5 had an average birth weight of 80#, so keep that in mind. As we pictured Lot 5, he didn’t like being alone, with that being said he is fine in the group. He is an athletic bull sure to cover country and breed a lot of cows.

Lot 6 is a darker made bull that is from the Upfront daughter 814 that stems from the 175 cow family. Lot 6 is big hipped, long made and strong footed. We really like these Canadian bred Coming in Hot calves. Their mild disposition, classy phenotype and their long hair coat makes them real desirable for us. We couldn’t get semen on Coming in Hot for the 2022 breeding season but we are sure to use him this year as we were able to attain some semen. Lot 6 is a real sale highlight out of a hard working 4 yr old cow. 814 is also bred back AI!

Lot 7 is another real nice Coming in Hot son out of a nice Cinch daughter. His dam 6074 is bred back AI to calf early! Lot 7 is loaded up with power from every direction and is super quiet. We only had 10 straws of Coming in Hot to use and Lot 6 and 7 are our only progeny to date. We used the rest of the semen to flush a couple cows and we will have more calves this spring born to recips. Bulls like Lot 7 make it difficult to put a sale order together.

Lot 8 is a complete and long bodied bull out of the solid producing cow 987 and 9 Mile Great Basin. This mating worked well. As 987 enters her 14th year, she is bred back once again. We are hoping for that special heifer to be born from her as we’ve only gotten bulls. If cow longevity is what you are looking for, this fella might be right for you.

Here is a deep bodied, long made powerhouse Black hided red carrier Red Angus bull. Lot 9 is out of the always sweet and gentle 9477 Hard Drive cow. A maternally stacked pedigree, 9477 proves that once again and is bred AI! This bull must not be overlooked sale day. He’s been a standout his whole life, be sure to look him over close! The females out of this tank will be something special.

Stout, stout stout! Truly a great bull to present and sell in our sale! These tremendous half-blood Fleckvieh ET brothers have 5 full sisters at home. These full sisters had an average birth weight of 98#. The Canadian Fleckvieh cattle that I’ve seen in person are good boned and really good footed. Many of the females I saw at Stanley Martins were docile as well. I feel these two sons in the offering are maternally and structurally sound. I also feel these genetics have that added punch of performance some of you may be looking for. We are proud of these two individuals!

It’s been a lot of fun watching these two full brothers grow and develop. I have a video of these two bulls at 45 days of age on my phone and I’d be happy to share with anyone. I would love to see these bulls go and make a difference on a smooth soft made set of Red Angus cows. Both of these bulls have explosive growth and are flexible in their stride. On page 40, two Talladega daughters are pictured on the very top row. Also last fall we purchased 2 of our very first Fleckvieh cows that are very worthy of becoming donors, they are also pictured on page 40. We intend on pursuing Fleckvieh genetics more in the future.

Lot 13 boasts one of the highest weaning weights in the sale and is out of a first calf heifer! 481Z and her daughter 014 are the kind of females you’d want a pasture full of. This is the only son in the offering by Upfront 508. Use him on soft made females to give them a shot of performance and that maternal boost.

Lot 14 is another super bull out of a dam that’s real milky and has an impeccable udder with small teats. 803 is bred AI for an early calf. 544 and 803 are easy fleshing females and are made right for the elements of the western Dakotas. In the last two years 3 full brothers and one maternal brother to the 803 cow have been sold. A full brother in the 2020 sale earned $6000. In the 2021 sale 2 full brothers brought $8250 and $6000 and a maternal brother received $5250 respectively. Lot 14 could easily be in the top 10 of this sale.

Lot 16 is an ET calf by the 945 cow and the old Shoco Data bull. The Shoco Data cows were my favorite back in 2011 when I saw them at Milk Creek Reds. 945 produced a real attractive bull in the 2022 sale that fetched $7000. We had to retire the 945 cow at the end of 2022 because of her age. But fortunately we have a few embryos in storage.

Lot 17 is a Copenhagen son that will be more moderate than some. He is out of the Seneca daughter 912. 912 is bred back AI for early calving. I remember 912 as a calf, she was one of my favorites. We rely on our cows to raise a good calf in a timely manner. We cull hard and don’t offer a quantity of bulls just to sell bulls. A maternal brother sold in last year’s sale earning $6500.

Lot 21 is the natural calf of the 1010 cow, who is also the donor dam of Lot 10 and Lot 11. Lot 21 was a twin and was raised by a surrogate first calf heifer. We lost his twin brother at birth and we also lost the 1010 cow about 10 days post partum. His weaning weight could have been much higher as his profile demonstrates. The December bitter cold blizzard nipped the bottom of his ears. The Supreme cattle have eye appeal, length and added performance.

Lot 23 is out of a full sister to the Lot 1 Grand Gateway bull from our 2021 sale. Basin Chinook 8459 was a favorite at 9 Mile Ranch. Lot 23 has lots of eye appeal and is also calving ease enough to use on heifers. There are several generations of maternal excellence in his pedigree.

Lot 25 is out of a cow that also produced classy made bulls in the 2021 and 2022 sales. 8825 goes back to the 175 cow. Lot 25 is a smooth made bull that happens to be the youngest bull in the sale. This April born bull has a lot of style already and will change more by sale time, look at him close.

Lot 26 had tough luck on his ears. The 3 day blizzard in December, along with the sub zero temps and very strong winds got the best of them. Lot 26 wasn’t born a giant. In fact I weighed him several times just because I thought the weight was incorrect. 617’s four previous calves average 90# at birth. 617 will calve again in March. 201Z was a favorite cow in her time but we unfortunately lost her due to lightning strike.

Lot 27 is a late March calf that comes from an attractive cow family. The 335 cow sold a $7250 Cinch son at our inaugural sale. 335’s mother could not be registered, therefore Lot 27 is a percentage bull, but I see him as 99% Red Angus.
