BOOME

“Everything That I Do” is the first single off your new album #8793. Tell us the concept behind the visual. The visual has a huge film vibe to it. I always want to have a creative journey behind every visual. So the opening shot to the video is a get away scene with me narrating it. The story is told backwards, I wanted the viewer to be in tune the whole time. It’s literally a mini action film, fast cars, guns, and a dope plot. Let’s talk about the album artwork? Who did design it? And why did you choose this animal face? The Album art was a concept that splits 2 different energies half man and half wolf. It was to portray both sides of my mind, Gold Coyote who is a Dope artist based out of Dallas did the cover. available now on

ger and expand from this album. We have a huge tour announcement that we quite can’t announce just yet, but will make sure we get it to y’all first. Other than good lyrics and hot beats, What does #8793 bring to the table? This 8793 Album has a very special feel to it. I put so much thought in every song, I wanted every song to be a journey and that’s exactly how it turned out. The 2 part concept covers both energies of the mind, the dark and the light. I’m impacting as always, but I’m doing it in a new way. What do the numbers 8793 stand for? 8793 is a split concept, 1st part of the album 87 being the more high energy side of the album. 93 being the deeper story telling side of the album. The correlation being basic 87 gasoline compare to premium 93 gasoline.

SPECI AL GUEST

witt LOWRY TIME TO DREAM HARDER Interview by Winnie MC. Feb 2016 Thanks for taking time to answer to our interview questionnaire. We know you are currently very busy! What are you cooking for fans? Thank you for taking the time to ask me some questions! My team and I have a lot of things in the works currently, tons of new music, a new project, new visuals, shows, etc. We are really just getting started. What is Hip Hop today in 2016? It’s whatever you decide it is to you. I think people spend far too much time trying to define things, put things into a box, especially music. Music is music to me, It doesn’t matter what category it falls under, I either enjoy what I’m listening to or I don’t. What is your message for all those people who says ‘Hip Hop’ is dead nowadays? I think that, with the internet, we as a society control what’s «dead» and what’s «alive» I think that every single person now has access to finding the exact type of music they prefer at all times. There may be certain sounds that are more popular than others at different times, but those are constantly changing. As Kanye West said “Are Rappers the new Rock stars” now? It really depends on how you define «Rock Star» if it’s judged by success in music sales then no, Adele sold around 3.38 Million her first week and Taylor Swift around 1.287 million. So I guess it really depends on how you look at it. For the 2 last years, you have been one of the most productive underground artists in the game...Your fanbase has grown very spectacularly! Beyond the quality of your work, what’s the secret of your success? Honestly there is no secret, I have a wonderful team, and we work very hard and smart. Everyone is passionate about what they do and we just continue to push ourselves, progress, and create amazing art.

After a 2015 promising year, what is your next challenge for 2016? Just to keep building on what we have been doing. We honestly have just been laying the ground work for what we have in store. This year is going to be the start of an amazing journey for #TEAMWITT and I. Musically, lyrically and visually, you have your own universe. Everything is very coherent and poetic. The way you chose to promote ‘Dreaming With Our Eyes Open’ proves it. So my question is who is the team behind your movement? #TEAMWITT is the team! That includes everyone involved in what we create and also the amazing fan base that we have created. We all are always pushing each other forward and I am forever grateful for everyone that’s apart of it. Are you currently dreaming with your eyes open? Why? I guess you could say that! Dreaming With Our Eyes Open is really just the process of turning a dream or a thought into a reality! What was the concept behind the LADDERS music video? It was basically being surrounded and followed by the people who want to see me fall. They are the irrelevant people that sit in the shadows waiting for you to slip up, the video was representative of overcoming that and focusing on where I am going on my journey and not letting those people affect that. ‘Conscious Creative Hip Hop’... Is it the best way to define your artistic style? I don’t like to be defined, let’s go with, I create music. Much love and respect!

B EYOND BORDERS

THE THIRD Three sisters, one passion. Interview by Joha Brown. How could you define the current state of Pop/ Rock nowadays in France? We don’t really know. It is difficult to say. Everything is made to be commercialized so there is not really a place for outsiders. Do you also plan to sing in french or do you feel more confortable in english? We feel more comfortable in English. English language is more melodious than french. However, we are currently working on it. it seems like singing in French make us feel more vulnerable. How did you get into music and where do you come from? We have been in a conservatory school since we were young. We started playing music at 3 years old. In 2009, we decided to play together because we really needed to express our own feelings. Melly launched the idea to create a band in order to play our own music and we immediately agreed.

aim at interacting with them. Moreover, It is easier to keep in touch with them through social networks. Is Art the best way to produce social change? Definitly! Art has this special power: it naturally gathers passionate people together. All doors stay open when it deals with Art! There is no «bad» or «good» opinion. Everybody can express his own thoughts. What is your next challenge for 2016? We would like to sign with a label to be able to live from our passion. Step by step, we want to get more gigs, building a larger fan base even beyond borders. What are your other hidden talents? Dance, writting, painting. Actually we like Art in many different aspects, we evolve trough it.

Where did you find the inspiration to write the single «Looking For»? The sound of the guitar make us thinking about some melancholia on the shore. So, I wanted a topic which could touch people and overall to give a message of hope. Generally a word comes first then I write about it. What is the team behind your movement and your best supporters since day1? My mother is and stays our best supporter. Then, we have a group of regulars that grows progressively. We like to stay close to our audience and

AMARA LA NEGRA //PROUD TO BE BLACK & LATINA «My Inspiration for all my positivity and my happiness is my mother! My Hunger to live! My desire to leave my mark in This World!» Can you explain to our readers how did you get your stage name? Was it like a nickname given during your childhood? I got my artistic name «Amara La Negra» when i was 16! I use to be in a girl group of 5 girls. The group was called «Amara». Unfortunately, the group fell apart for personal reasons. One of the girls decided to get married, another became a mother... I was the only one who stayed focused on my vision. I like the name and Its Meaning and I thought it was just perfect for me. It means: «Eternal Beauty and Woman of Cinnamon Skin»... I Thought It Was Perfect! AMARA LA NEGRA... i also read it as ‘i am so proud to be black and latina’! Is it a way to help other black women feel more confident? When I say I’m proud of being black and latina, I mean it! Im very proud of my culture, my race! I Love my skin and Who I Am! And for that I thank my mother «Mami Ana». She raised me from a very early age to be proud of my color! My hair! My features! To embrace it! You are currently on tour in Europe. What are you cooking for 2016? What’s next? I’m focusing on just putting out alot of good music! Features! Remixes! Originals. This year, I’m exploring with new sounds and generas. I started the year with my #NoHayQuienMeDetenga 2016 tour in Puerto Rico. I’m currently touring all over Europe! My next stop will be all over the USA!! Dominican Republic! Central America and so on.. I’m very excited about the next challenges. Do you work with european artists as well? How do you develop all those connects out of USA? I haven’t worked with any european artists yet but i’d love to. I’m very open into working with other talents that bring something new to the table. I’m very thankful because I have a great team! And They all play there part! You are also known as a real ‘BEAST’ on stage! Where do you find this incredible energy? Behind and in front of the cameras, you always look so positive, dancing, smiling etc... Who is your inspiration? Ever since i was a little girl, I remember putting all my dolls and teddy bears in my bed and Singing to them as if MR DREAMZ MAG2016

i was a famous superstar! I’ve been prepared all my life to be on stage! I knew i was built for that! When i’m on stage, i am transformed! I’m fearless! It’s «Home» for me! My fans, the lights, the music, that mic on my hands give me all the energy i need to offer the best of me on stage! And the thought of my mother being proud of me always helps. My inspiration for all my positivity and my happiness is my mother! My hunger to live! My desire to leave my mark in this world! I know I speak so much about her but my mother is the reason i have come this far! She has pushed me to be the best i can! I want her to be proud of me! I have met many mothers but few like mines! I have truly been blessed. She worked up to 4 jobs as a single parent to make sure she could pay my singing, dancing, acting and modeling classes. I want to succeed! I dont think i was born to just be one more person in this world and just die without a goal. I was born with a purpose. For all our readers... Is Amara single? Yes, Im Single What is the best place for a romantic rendez-vous ? The best place for a romantic rendez-vous to me would be wherever I could be alone, away from the world, with lots of fatty food! Comfy clothes, lots of red wine, chocolates, Netflix and Candle Lights... I’m a pretty simple Girl! Once you travel so much and meet so many people, you learn to appreciate the simpler things in life. If I could do those things with that one person... I honestly don’t care Where I Do it! The craziest thing a fan has done for you? A fan Tattooed a portrait of me on Her Arm! So Cool!

Do you regard yourself as a DJ or as an artist? Very hard to tell man! This year is my second one as a DJ in Montreal. I consider myself as a professional DJ: i spend a lot of energy and time mixing and entertaining people every weekend in clubs. But it’s more than «just» a job for me. It’s a passion, a lifestyle: Real Art. What has been your biggest buzz so far? My greatest moment was that night i mixed at the New City Gas (Montreal). This place is very prestigious and has featured numerous famous DJs so far! Can you give us your vision about Montreal nightlife? Honestly, it is not that BIG! There are a lot DJs but not enough good nightclubs to host them. If you want to work as a DJ, you have to get another 9-5 job to pay your bills. That’s the main difference with other big cities like Toronto or NY where you can live from you passion! However, there are so many great artists in MTL such as Dj Payce, MR DREAMZ MAG2016

What’s the biggest 2016 hit for dancefloor? Definitly that «Work» hit by Rihanna! Girls love it so much! Do you produce as well? I have my own home studio so i would like to do that! Unfortunately, i am currently too busy to develop my skills as producer. That’s a lot of work and i want to take my time to produce the best. I need to move on step by step. VOYCE* Interview by B.B bouk Instagram @Voycemusic Photos by @Sookz

How did you build the bridge between the two projects (AiaC and HIPS)? Warning: what I say after this will undoubtedly make me sound crazy… You’ve been warned. In making AiaC, Voyce* was telling Stephen’s story, a story of pain, loss and sometimes hope. In doing so it began to burden Voyce* who was acting as the messenger. HiPS allowed Voyce* to release his own frustrations. Having Sookz drive that project allowed Voyce* to focus on himself and tell his own story, the story of a man being thrown into the spotlight. It is that split personality that bridges both worlds, where the only separation is a paper thin mirror. Like I said… crazy. Let’s focus now on Hidden In The Plain Sight: King Of The Sand Castle. Can you introduce the project? Sure thing, but before I do I just want reiterate that HiPS, unlike AiaC which was self-produced, was produced by Sookz. In working on AiaC I not only penned the words but also MR DREAMZ MAG2016

17

created the instrumentals. However in working on HiPS, Sookz took on the mantle of producer, letting me focus on the lyrics and its melodies while he created the music that drives it. So in many ways the songs in HiPS tell two stories, mine from a lyrics perspective and Sookz’s from an instrumentation point of view. For the sake of this interview I can only speak from my point of view. Sookz built the frameworks for the instrumentals and then sent them to me and each song I wrote around them was in many ways an emotional response. I’ll refrain from diving too deeply into why the songs were written because I want each listener to forge their own connections to them.

#MainQuotes “Working on Hidden in Plain King of the Sand Castle was just as much of a self exploration experience as it was a great learning experience in honing my own production skills.” - Sookz “In working on HiPS, Sookz took on the mantle of producer, letting me focus on the lyrics and its melodies while he created the music that drives it. So in many ways the songs in HiPS tell two stories, mine from a lyrics perspective and Sookz’s from an instrumentation point of view.” - Voyce* Follow his journey on instagram @voycemusic

ANISHA KING Entrepreneur / Model / Artist

«I had a Big Girl Rock Vol. 2 R&B Edition Mixtape out on March 20. I love my kids very much so my next 2 photo shoots will be with them and I am really excited about them because I am sharing my passion with the 2 people that I love very much.» Twitter & Instagram @Anishakingpsm Contact: anishakingpsm@gmail.com Facebook: Anishakingpsm

Since the creation of the movement called «Big Girls Rock», how has the feedback been? I have gotten great feedback from Big Girls Rock. When I originally started BGR, the feedback was greater than it is now. I’ve always been known in my community for BGR among other things but BGR is the main thing. It really helped lots of plus size women with self-esteem, self-acceptance and overall being a “big girl”, especially in this cruel society. Obviously, the name of the brand aims at helping plus size women feel confident! It did make me feel more confident for the simple fact we were helping other women with daily struggles of being plus size. The thought of being able to help another woman feel better about herself made me feel even better about myself. I’ve always had high self esteem growing up so it was amazing to be able to share my self esteem with others. BGR has changed my life in so many ways but the main way was that I was an inspiration to not just plus size woman but woman of all sizes. Was your meeting with Ray Rockbaby decisive for your career? Lol! Well meeting Ray was not only decisive in my career but it was the actual start of me modeling. I laugh because I never thought my pictures or our pictures from that photo shoot would result into me mode-

ling. I just did it for him because he asked and thought it would be really cool to model with a music artist. I’ve always been told I am photogenic so I thought taking pictures would be a breeze. Well it wasn’t lol. I was very shy and nervous. Our shoot turned out great and started landing me opportunities I never thought of. It brought out a new me for sure and boosted my self esteem even more as well as creating a new passion to be able to share my life thru pictures. Thank you again ray, I will forever love you! Why has women’s fashionable plus size wear been such an afterthought for big companies? Plus size fashion is now finally evolving to what it should have been for years. Big Companies base their clothes on what the world considers “average size”. Well “average” is no longer average. Women have curves and aren’t shaped like they were in the 1800’s or even in the early 90s to be more recent. I think with all these recent plus size ads like the Dove’s “Real Beauty Campaign, heavier women are getting more recognition in society so it was only right that more stores get a plus size section but a plus size section with now flattering pieces for us. We would like to get news about your beautiful daughter! Can you explain more about Teyana’s Heart? My sweet girl is now 2. I remember and will always remember doctor’s MR DREAMZ MAG2016

telling us she may not make it to 1. She’s been so inspiring to me over these 2 years. Her fight is phenomenal and she’s beating so many odds. Teyana’s Heart is exactly what it says: it’s Teyana’s Heart. She has a like page on Facebook with over 3,000 followers and it’s updated by me about her, her health, pictures, videos and whatever else. We had several fundraisers last year during Congential Heart Defect Week Feb 7-14 and although the proceeds were to go to Teyana in most cases, I gave it back to others and I’m still giving it back. I try to donate to several Go Fund Me accounts in honor of Teyana, help support different March of Dimes fundraisers, and I’m about to get her cards made with her picture; briefly explain her diagnosis and put “I have a reason to smile, so should you”. I think these cards will help so many people go thru the day knowing that she still smiles no matter what has endured in a short period of time. In the future, I hope to get a 501C to be able to do more and help other families out more. Also, one cool thing is Sole Savers Inc. has a red rollable flat shoe out named Teyana after my daughter, The shoe has been out maybe 3 weeks. So you’ll have to look them up and order you a pair. This is just the beginning! Want to get updates about Teyana? www.facebook.com/teyanasheart

ADRIAN AUSTIN

ARTIST / MODEL / ENTREPRENEUR

«Everything done in the dark comes to the light.» Since the launch of your brand «Constance & Austin Inc», how has feedback been? Right from the launch of Constance & Austin Inc. things seemed bright and from the positive feedback, I can simply say it has been amazing! At the moment, I’m building an empire and reinventing myself as an artist. I have a whole new team of talented, loyal, and genuine people. I’ve been through blood, sweat and tears these past few years. As you well know, it takes the time to create perfection, and I want my fans to be patient. Constance & Austin will soon be out there in an all new amazing way. My former manager tried to destroy my legacy, my life, and my career. I have so many touching situations to talk about, and that’s why I am coming out soon in many other exclusive interviews and also a documentary. My fans and I share an inseparable life, and I am confident they know the truth. Besides, I have always been a spiritual person, and I believe that everything done in the dark comes to the light. To be continued. Obviously, the name of your brand symbolizes your struggle. You lost so many members of your family! Constance & Austin Inc. has changed my life and self-confidence in so many different ways. For one, it has made me realize I’m a King, and I have a legacy to fulfill. Another thing, C&A has forced me to take responsibility that I never imagined. I know C&A has made me a stronger and a wiser person. It has made me believe in myself more, be extra creative in my craft and above all, to be a professional. As a matter of fact, today I am much more independent and in control of my career, especially my fashion and modeling. I always love helping and inspiring people. I love doing the unexpected. I love having a platform that I can bring change through. C&A is bigger than me.

Do you believe in God? Has faith been the remedy to overcome all these tragedies? Yes, I believe in God, and I also believe that God allows everything to happen for a reason and in those moments, we might not understand those reasons. If it wasn’t for God, I don’t know where I would be right now. God is my everything. To all of you: believe in this Man, he is the best, and I love him so deeply. He won’t let you down as long as you keep the faith. I have a lot of faith in Him, and prayers have been the cure to all trials and tribulations that I faced. Who is the ‘C&A’ typical client, or target audience? Memphis, TN, Atlanta, St. Louis. And my target audience is adults, kids and youth. I’m an independent artist who is first rising and hopefully, in the near future, C&A would be a worldwide reality. What were the inspirations to design your new collection? Designer of CLEONS Clothing; Chad Leon, & Designer/Stylist; Anthony Lattimore. Both of them are dope, innovative, fly artist. I always have been a fan of them too. They inspire me on my new fashion direction. Chad actually designed a bag for my Michael Jackson tribute photo shoot. One of his RHINOc1 Backpack limited editions. I would love to meet and network with Anthony Lattimore one day. His style iconic. Is there a demand for your product in Europe as well? Yes, because my brand is one of a kind. My style and the swag are legendary and groundbreaking. It’s unique, fashion forward, and artistic. My brand will be a household name among the fashion world.

You are a real fashion lover and also a model. Tell us how you are unique compared to other models. What do you bring to the modeling industry? I have been around for a while, but already, I have a strong movement, a lot of success and some accolades under my belt. People will always compare me to other models, but you know many models even pay homage and reference me as a fashion influence. But some models are just jealous, and they don’t get the art of unity and what inspired them. What I bring to the modeling industry is the legacy of Constance Austin & Adrian Austin. I am trying to break down barriers of people being too short to be successful models. I have experienced the stereotypes of the fashion and modeling industry. Constance & Adrian Modeling Outreach (CAMO) will be and will continue giving models a safe haven from the negativity of being deviant. As a Michael Jackson unconditional fan, What’s your top 3 best songs? Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller What additional information would you like readers to know about your brand? T EEN KRUSH

SHANNON K she SHINES LIKE A SAPPHIRE How do you manage your time between your artistic activities and school? I do my studies in weekdays and I keep my weekends free to write, record new songs. Music is my hobby so there is not a certain time to practice. I sing in school, on my way or anywhere. In short, I enjoy Music. Do your schoolmates consider you as “different” because of your career? What has the feedback been so far? Yeah they do appreciate me and ask me to sing mostly. They always tell other people about my work proudly and this encourages me a lot to do better work next time. They want me to pursue my dreams. As a young singer/actress, what are your motivations? & your goals? I want to become a successful singer with good music and lyrics. I want to act in Disney/Nick channel or appropriate roles for my age in any channel . I want to teach free music to kids who can’t afford the fees.

Can you tell us more about your new release? My new single «SAPPHIRE» is coming soon in May first week. It’s about, never letting your love go, no matter what. This song is inspired by the movie «Titanic» like Jack sacrificed his life to save Rose. Also Rose remembered him till her last breath. So your beloved is like a Sapphire to you and you never want to lose him/her. Which singer really influences you? Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Adele are my all time influence. I love Ariana Grande’s singing. What’s your worst nightmare? My biggest nightmare is falling from a skyscraper! Recurring dream? My recurring dream is singing in a massive arena. Do you have any other hidden talents? I’m a humorous person and I like designing as well.

/ShannonKSinger

What do you do in your spare time? Go on my phone/social media to chat with friends and listen to good music. I also love to spend time in studio writing and singing new songs. Where do you see yourself in five years from now? I want to become a successful singer/artist. This is just my beginning. Also I want to study music further within the next 5years. Being the daughter of legendary Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu, do you feel more pressure on your shoulders? Generally people think it’s cool to be a celeb kid but I have to face this comparison and criticism everywhere. People compare me with a legend (dad) and it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulders. I’m young and should be allowed to make mistakes in singing like other teens do but it’s different in my case. People judge me without thinking of my age. So yeah, it’s a lot more pressure.

B E AT CULTURE

YaOkayB As a music production duo, How and when did you meet? Tell the story. We met senior year of high school at Grosse Pointe South in Grosse Pointe, MI and we had the same interests, cars, racing and music. We graduated in 2009 together and always had music on the backburner for the past few years. It started out as a hobby for us and we kept tinkering around with it. We had developed a vision at a certain point once we realized we were creating something that people enjoyed. How has the «beat» industry evolved for the past years? Is it harder to sell your work? The beat industry is far more competitive this year than ever before. It’s not harder to sell our beats because we do a little more research to figure out who is our audience. And easier to make a beat with all those softwares? The software we use to create our music keeps becoming more and more powerful in terms of capabilities as well as making the whole production process easier in this sense and if you stay updated, it becomes second-nature.

MR DREAMZ MAG2016

24

What setup production do you use to make your productions? For the longest time, we were using an old laptop from 2008 and computer speakers from 2003, and that’s how we got started. Currently, we have a small home studio and we still use a laptop, M-Audio Fast Track, KRK Rokits and Audio-Technica headphones. It’s not the best equipment for what we’re doing, but we have to start somewhere. How did you hook up with so many artists? Who are your most prestigious collaborators or best studio experiences? We really use social media to our advantage and that’s the easiest way to reach out to an artist instead of going through an A & R and that’s important nowadays.
