The Malette’s Harry & Joan Malette were two very special people who loved their family and aviation. After 30 years living in northern CA, Joan and Harry visited some friends while traveling in the Pacific NW and they were told about an airport community where, after doing research, they found they liked the politics, the people, and the weather. They bought a vacant lot and moved to Independence, Oregon. Here, they designed their custom one of a kind dream house. Harry wanted a home office connected to a large functional hangar; Joan wanted a sewing room and shelf space for her beloved library of books, an open kitchen, and guest quarters for their grown children. Both spent their years participating and making a lasting impact in their newly loved Aviation community to help preserve County & State support of General aviation that was significant to survival of the airport and along the way, created meaningful lasting relationships to those that knew them. Harry and Joan owned HLM Air services that did Aircraft recovery from Aviation incidents. A multi-state business and an interesting career for sure!
