Hooray For Fall Fall is here once again. Kids are back in school, whether it is preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle, high school or college, you can smell that “new book” in the crispy Autumn air. Turkeys everywhere are preparing for the worst and pumpkin patches are clearing out. Black, brown and orange color your town while skeletons dance in the street. Candy corn is in season as we decorate our lawns with stalks of the past season. Christmas will soon be near and to be honest, keep it away from me...Bah Humbug....Don’t get me wrong, I like the season but I hate what the retail stores turned this holiday into. Its sickening. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this quarters Weekly Reider as I am trying to include a little more humor and helpful tidbits....

Two for Texas
By Cheryl Reid
I would like to share a little bit of my trip this year. In October, I went to Houston with my cousin, Carolyn. We visited the International Quilt Show which was the most amazing show I have ever been to. I will never match up to the beautiful, very intricate quilts we viewed. I don’t even want to try.
After we left Killeen, on our way back to Houston, we stopped at a Pecan grove and bought fresh pecans. Then we went to a Renaissance Faire. We had never been to the faire and it was quite unique. Lots of people visiting the faire were dressed up. We had a good time at the faire.
After visiting Houston, we drove 4 hours to Fort Hood in Killeen, TX where we saw Tom’s family. Pauline and the Kids were so happy to see us. I was ecstatic. The youngest, Vanessa was a baby the last time I saw her. She is now 5 years old and a smart as a whip. Her goal it to be the fastest cup stacker. Elisa is 7 years old and so sweet and also very smart. Elizabeth, 14, is as cute as a button and has the craziest girl friend I have ever met. (I mean that in a very loving way. As Pauline puts it, she is my other daughter). Thomas, 17, is tall like his father and so handsome. He loves to play computer music games. (He is good at it, too). He has a dragon in his room that he cares for. Thomas is learning to fly and his goal after his finishes college is to join the Army and learn to fly Apache and maybe Blackhawk helicopters.
That’s it! Hope you enjoyed reading about the Reid family in Texas.
Pauline had cooked a wonderful dinner for us. She is a great cook and hostess. Pauline is doing a wonderful job with everything while Tom is in Iraq. We met her sister who just moved out to Killeen from Massachusetts. Pauline is so delighted to have her there.
