Mystery Eyes

L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Serum Inside Foundation RRP £13.99

The first step to creating the dramatically sculpted eye make-up was to sketch in a strong brow using the colours 2 and 3 from the Made-for-me Naturals Brow Palette in 403. With the structure of the brows to work to, James used Color Appeal in Starry Black to create recesses in the inner corners of the eyes. The shadow was taken up to the brow then worked into the sockets to create depth. A fine dusting of Starry Black to soften the lower lid along with Contour Khôl in Chestnut to line the inner rim, added further intensity. Using Color Appeal in Real Silver from the tear ducts all the way along the lid created a sparkling effect as the eyes moved.

A Perfect Matte Base

To achieve the ideal complexion - glowing skin with no shine - Visible Lift Serum Inside, L’Oréal Paris’ smart new foundation with skincare properties, was smoothed over the face and neck. “Its nice and matte and will help keep shine at bay, even under hot catwalk lights,” says James

Sculpture Lesson The look is all about contouring, playing around with light and shade, so James applied Glam Bronze Blush Duo in 101 to sculpt the face, placing colour on the cheekbones to highlight those features. A final sweep of Mattifying Minerals helped to unify the complexion.

To highlight the brow bone, Touche Magique was the surprise product. “Of course you would use it to conceal under eye shadows but it’s just so versatile,” says James. “I’m always trying products meant for one part of the face on another part.” A final sweep of Telescopic Explosion Mascara added the finishing touch to the eyes.

UNREPORTED FACT: Hair loss is as common in women as it is in men.

Hair before treatment Hair before treatment

Hair rejuvenated after 3 months Hair rejuvenated after 3 months

Women are more susceptible to many more external factors that can result in temporary and permanent hair-loss. It can be a regular side effect of taking ordinary medicines such as ibuprofen, antidepressants and blood pressure medication. As well as being hereditary, hair loss is proven to be a result of common complaints such stress, poor diet, environmental pollutants, anaemia, hormonal imbalance, the menopause polycystic ovaries, post-pregnancy or an inactive thyroid. Hair-loss takes place over several years and by the time many women realise that their hair has stopped growing, the hair loss is already in a progressive state. The acclaimed LA Hair Science Anti-Hair Loss products have combined two innovative, progressive technologies to combat hair-loss and promote a healthy environment for hair growth: 1. A unique cutting edge patented Nano- encapsulated delivery system which infuses the base of the hair follicle with active ingredients to produce healthier hair and extend the growth phase of the hair cycle. This Nano-encapsulation system enables a controlled and sustained release of the active ingredients. This encapsulation system is highly stable due to a double layer structure. 2. Delivery of the active ingredients to the hair follicle to help: • Improve blood supply to the scalp • Revitalise and rejuvenate the hair follicle • Strengthen the hair shaft • Normalise the hair growth cycle • Inhibits depigmentation • Activates the stem cells of the hair follicle Regular use of the LA SCIENCE Anti Hair-Loss products at the earliest onset of hair-loss will significantly increase hair retention and thickening.

here are various misunderstandings about stretching, like how much and for how long, whilst depending upon the timing, for some it can actually be damaging!

T

Based on the overall physiological fact, ‘the more you stretch a muscle, the more powerfully it contracts’, resistance/weight training involving sets and repetitions can significantly benefit from this principle. Consider how much more powerfully an elastic band snaps back the further you pull it and you’ll appreciate that particular piece of muscle physiology plus. However, let’s concern ourselves here with stretching for those of you who exercise by

entire planet really knows for sure, the ground zero reasons for cramp. This scientific absolute that we have yet to discover is also accompanied by other sports science mysteries such as why some individuals ’suffer’ more because they stretch before their activities, but nevertheless for the time being we have to accept this status quo. The rest of us will certainly benefit from stretching before our event, but some basics should be borne in mind to get the best results. Truly effective stretch benefit only begins after 15 seconds have passed holding a stretch in the mild pull position, or, as an easy to remember ‘AA’, to signify annoying ache. To be precise, using a watch for this is a very good practice.

HEALTH EXPERT ALAN GORDON TALKS ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF STRETCHING When moving to the AA point, what is happening is that the myotatic reflex is allowing you to stretch that muscle out, until you reach the limit of its present flexibility levels, sometimes referred to as the ‘AC’

certainly ‘knowing’ about it!. The rope that subtly wears away only a few strands at a time, but one day……twang…it snaps without warning, for what might well appear to be, the most modest of exertions.

Truly effective stretch benefit only begins after 15 seconds have passed holding a stretch in the mild pull position, or, as an easy to remember ‘AA’, to signify annoying ache. Try to stretch with your eyes closed as much as possible and let the feel of the stretch be your only guide. For example, you perform your exercise sessions over the same route regularly, performing your cool-down stretches in the same place with the same view before you. So when stretching your rear upper thighs for example (hamstrings) and you go down in your line of vision to that 4th row of bricks in that wall opposite, you may innocently have already begun being guided by visual triggers, which isn’t good news!

Closed eyes, takes away your visual awareness and more often than not as part of

(acquired capacity). When you feel that sustained mild pull, moving beyond it causes you significant discomfort/ pain.

The more you stretch a muscle, the more powerfully it contracts.

This is because once you reach the constructive limit of the myotatic reflex, the inverse myotatic reflex kicks in immediately to stop you damaging yourself, by causing pain/discomfort and forcing you to withdraw to the constructive flexibility development limits.

Those of you who experience re-current episodes of pulls and strains in your exercise activities, I would strongly advise you to at least try for a realistic period of time (four weeks), completely stopping your stretch routine before your activity sessions and events. Instead, simply concentrate on a thorough warm up and stretch only during your cool down procedure. During the contraction of a muscle, parallel contractions of two filaments occur, namely actin and myosin. They move closer together and slide over each other when that muscle contracts; sometimes referred to as the ‘actin-myosin bridge’. Inexplicably in some, this and other physiological processes are disrupted if they stretch before significant exertions, with pulls, tears and cramps often being the painful result. Remember that no-one anywhere on the

Dynamic/bounce stretching which uses considerable momentum and plunges you past muscle limit points at such a velocity, that the inverse myotatic reflex simply isn’t fast enough to intervene; has been claimed by some to be more sport specific. However, in 40 years of experience in the field, by far and above the most injuries I have encountered, are amongst those who use bounce/dynamic stretching. Dynamic stretch is a haven for something called ’sub-clinical micro trauma’. This is where damage is continuously inflicted in small and relatively unnoticed increments, but nevertheless accumulate until that person eventually feels significant pain, then called clinical trauma. Commonly, it is actually the gradual effect of inappropriate stretch practice that eventually builds up unseen, which finally results in the person concerned ,

this sensory deprivation process, will intensify your ‘feel’ mechanism for being in deep contact with your flexibility. A blind man’s hearing is significantly more acute than a sighted person, and Mother Nature’s skills can be equally active in this way during your stretch sensitivity process. Strictly speaking though, there is no time limit as to how long you should sustain a stretch, other than the clinically factual 15 second start time. However, once you are over the 60 second mark, boredom or even a sensation of the tedious can set in, so take it as read that after a minute, you’ll have gleaned good clinical benefits from your stretch. Alan Gordon MSc. BSc. (Hons 1st) is one of the highest qualified ‘one to one’ exercise and nutritional specialists in the UK and Europe, has almost 40 years experience in those fields and is often retained to privately assess personal trainers in the UK and Europe. He is called as Expert Witness in litigations involving health and fitness personnel, belongs to The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, The International Society of Biomechanics and The Clinical Exercise Physiology Association, whilst being the author of the book’ Bodywise Flexibility’. PUMPKIN AND SWEET POTATO SOUP

MERINGUE WITCHES HATS AND CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE

Makes 4 big bowls

Serves 6

2 tbsp olive oil 1 onion, chopped 1 garlic clove, crushed 700g (1/b 6oz) pumpkin flesh, roughly chopped 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and roughly chopped 1.2 litres (2pts) water or vegetable stock 200ml (7fl oz) Alpro soya Light alternative to milk 4 tbsp Alpro soya alternative to cream

2 egg whites 100g (4oz) light muscovado sugar 1 carton of Alpro soya alternative to chocolate milk

For the breadsticks: 4 assorted part baked bread sticks 2 tbsp olive oil 1 Heat the olive oil in a large pan, add the onion and garlic and cook for a few minutes to soften. 2 Add the pumpkin and sweet potato and cook for a couple of minutes, then add the water or stock. Season with salt and ground black pepper, cover and bring to the boil, then simmer for 25 mins until the pumpkin and sweet potato are really tender. 3 Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200ยบC (180ยบC fan, Gas 6). Cut the bread in half lengthways, then make several cuts one third of the way up the length to look like broom bristles. Repeat with the other bread, put onto a large baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Bake for 5-8 mins until becoming golden. 3 Stir the Alpro soya Light into the soup, whiz everything together in blender or processor in batches until smooth. Return to the pan, gently warm through to serve. Pour into bowls and finish with a swirl of Alpro soya alternative to cream.

1 Preheat the oven to 150ยบC (fan 130ยบC, Gas 1). Whisk the egg whites in a clean grease free bowl until they are stiffly peaking. (You can check they are ready by turning upside down - if they begin to slide around, keep on whisking). 2 Gradually whisk in the sugar 1 tbsp at a time. Line 2 baking sheets with baking parchment. Spoon or pipe witches hat shapes onto the lined baking sheets. 3 Bake for 50 mins until golden brown. Remove from the oven - they will firm up within 15 mins. Cool and serve with chocolate milkshake.

Gearing up for a fresh eptember/October brings some relief to gardens as the signal of the start of a new season for gardeners in areas that have been too warm. September/October can be one of the busiest months in the gardening calendar with the beginning of putting your garden to bed and gearing up for a fresh start, as long as the weather cooperates.

S

often the flat end will have dry roots attached.

September/October is the time to be choosing and planting your Spring flowering bulbs, these offer a wonderful and colourful display just when you need it most and with very little effort your display can last all through the Spring. Remember to try to choose bulbs that are best suited to your garden and area. Prepare the soil in advance of planting where you can and ensure the area is rich in humus (compost) and is well drained, this will deliver perfect Spring flowering blooms which will improve year after year.

6. Add some Bone meal or Super-phosphate into the soil in the bottom of the hole at planting time, to encourage strong root growth. Mix some compost and a small handful of gravel into the base of the planting hole in clay or heavy soils

HOW TO PLANT YOUR SPRING FLOWERING BULBS: 1. Choose healthy, large (for the variety) bulbs. Try to avoid bulbs that are dry, spongy or mouldy. 2. Location, location, location. In the main flowering bulbs prefer full sun, however they can be planted almost anywhere in the spring, before the leaves come through on trees. So don’t overlook a spot that seems perfect, just because it’s a bit shady in September. Woodland bulbs Anemones, Erythronium, Snowdrops, Bluebells and Trillium prefer a bit of shade. Don’t forget a well-drained soil will prevent the bulbs from rotting in the wet cold winter months. 3. In colder areas, planting bulbs should be done before November to enable the bulbs to develop and put down the roots. 4. When planting try to make sure that you plant them the right way up, this should be easy on most bulb as they have in general a pointed end and a flat end – the pointed end being the stem,

5. Planting instructions can be found on most packet bought bulbs if however you buy them loose plant bulbs to a depth of about 3 times their diameter. For Daffodils, that’s about 6 - 8 inches. Smaller bulbs can be planted to a depth of 3-4 inches.

7. Replace the soil on top of the bulbs. Water the bulbs after planting, to help them settle in and close any air pockets by gently firming the soil. When spring arrives, you should be well rewarded for all your efforts! Best practice: 1. For A Natural Effect: Plant bulbs in clumps or drifts. To achieve this, either dig a large area and plant several bulbs at once or simply toss the bulbs into the air and dig holes and plant where ever they fall. You’ll be surprised how well this works. 2. Mark Your Plantings: To make sure you don't dig up your bulbs and disturb there growth by trying to plant something in the same spot, mark where and what you have planted. 3. Spring Care: When your bulbs have finished flowering, cut back the flower stalks to ground level. Let the foliage of your flowering bulbs dieback naturally. Resist the temptation to cut it back while still green, but floppy. The bulb needs this time to make food reserves to produce next year’s flowers.

FRUIT AND VEGETABLE GARDEN Fruit Harvest apples and pears for use in pies and desserts.

START Pick raspberries as autumn varieties begin to ripen. Raspberry canes can be thinned leaving this year’s new growth to be tied in and ready to produce fruit next year. Strawberry bed should be planted and set for next year – this month really is the last opportunity to do this. Strawberry runners should be removed off existing plants and repotted if being kept. Blackcurrants can be pruned straight after harvesting, but it is better for gardeners to wait until the leaves have fallen, and to prune the plants while dormant during the winter. New fruit trees can be planted once the autumn sets in, mid to late September, and the dryer weather is over. The soil should still be reasonably warm and even if the weather is cool, the roots of new trees will settle and show signs of growth.

Pest and disease prevention Remove apples, pears and plums affected with brown rot to prevent the disease from spreading. Prune out any weak, dead, dying or diseased shoots on fruit trees which could be or are affected by diseases such as bacterial canker, cherry leaf scorch or powdery mildew if left these diseases will worsen. Stone fruits (e.g. cherries or plums) should be pruned in the summer months and should not be cut back once they are dropping their leaves, as this can make them vulnerable to silver leaf and other problems. If not done so already net or cage ripening fruits to protect them from birds.

Vegetables Sow over-wintering vegetables, to mature next spring, such as turnip, spinach, winter lettuce. Plant over-wintering onion sets in late September. Spring cabbages that were sown last month should be ready for planting out. Cover them

Wyevale Garden Centre’s resident Gardening Expert offers some useful tips for the season with fibre fleece or netting to stop the pigeons shredding them. Dig up the last of the potatoes before slugs become too much of a problem. Leave them out to dry for a few hours before storing. Continue harvesting vegetables, such as French beans, runner beans, courgettes, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes, to encourage further crops. Outdoor tomatoes should be harvested by the end of the month and ripened indoors. Remove the whole truss to allow the fruits to ripen ‘on the vine’, perhaps under a cloche or on a windowsill. Any green fruits can be used in chutneys. Lift onions and shallots once the foliage has started to die back. Allow them to dry on the soil surface for a few days, then remove and dry in a well-ventilated shed and store in a dry place.

control. Outdoor tomatoes are more vulnerable than greenhouse ones. Burn all infected plants. Suitable controlling products are Bordeaux Mixture, Dithane 945 and Murphy Traditional Copper Fungicide.

Carrots, beetroot and turnip are best lifted and stored for use over the winter at this time of year. Parsnips should be left in, as they taste better once frosted. Harvest sweetcorn as it becomes ripe. Push a fingernail into the kernel when the tassels at the end of the cob start to shrivel and brown. If the liquid looks milky, they are ready. Marrows, pumpkins and squashes may be ready for harvesting. When asparagus foliage turns brown, it is time to cut it down and give the plants a good mulch of compost Celery should be earthed-up for the final time this month, leaving just the top of the foliage sticking out of the trench or collar in order to blanch the stems.

Pest and disease prevention Keep up with potato blight and tomato blight

Potato powdery scab is prevalent in wet weather at this time of year, especially on clay soils. Dispose of affected tubers and rotate crops to prevent the problem building up in the soil. Common scab and other potato skin problems can be prevalent in dry Indian summer weather, particularly on well-drained sandy soils. Watering is key, and the use of acidic fertilisers may help if you have alkaline soil (which worsens the problem). Be sure to clear debris created when lifting potatoes, and take care not to damage the haulms. Clear all plant debris which could cause the development of fungal diseases such as black leg or fluffy grey mould.

How To Insulate DIY TIPS Your Home Over half of all heat in the home is lost through loft space and walls – yet you can easily stop this Introduction happening. There isn’t a single good reason not to do to insulation it: insulating your home is quick and easy, and the average household could save up to £300 a year on bills. It's not just money you'll save by fitting insulation- you’ll also do your bit in safeguarding the future of the planet by helping to reduce carbon emissions. While you're at it, consider replacing your standard lightbulbs with energy saving equivalents.

How to insulate your loft Much of your home’s heat is lost through the loft when it rises – a massive 26%, in fact. So the loft is the best place to start when insulating your home. By using a 270mm thickness of glass mineral wool loft insulation (or the thermal equivalent) you’ll save between £180 – £220 in energy bills and 1.5 tonnes of C02 per year.

www.diy.com 20 - EXPOSURE

How to insulate your hot water cylinder Most new cylinders come pre-insulated, but if you have an older un-lagged one, you can buy a cheap insulating jacket that is really easy to fit – this could save you £20 and 150kg of C02 every year.

How to insulate your radiators Sticking pieces of radiator reflector foil behind your radiators is a great way to save energy – this will stop the heat leaking out of the wall behind them. You can either paste the foil onto the wall before the radiator is fitted, or cut it to a size slightly smaller than the radiator itself, fixing it with adhesive pads.

How to insulate your hot water pipes If you insulate your hot water pipes, this will cut down the time you have to wait for hot water to flow from the tap. The most important pipes to lag are the ones that run under the floorboards and in the loft. You should also insulate the pipe that runs from the boiler to the hot water cylinder.

How to insulate your cold water pipes These pipes can be insulated to prevent them from freezing in winter. You can wrap the cistern in a purpose-made jacket or lag it with a glass fibre blanket. Pipework can be insulated using split foam tubes, which easily slide onto the pipes – use a double thickness around bends where freeze-ups are most likely to happen, and fasten the foam at intervals with tape to keep it closed.

How to insulate your walls A massive 33% of your entire home’s heat is lost through walls if your home is uninsulated, and cavity wall insulation is one of the most cost-effective and energy efficient ways to stop this happening. It can reduce home heat loss by around 60% and save you between £130 and £160 per year in heating bills. You might want to consider cavity wall insulation – where the gap between the outer and inner wall is filled with glass wool – or if you live in an older property with solid walls (ie built before 1920), you can line your walls with polystyrenebacked plasterboard. B&Q offers a full cavity wall insulation service. Visit the Energy Saving Trust.

BEHIND THE LOST SYMBOL Dan Brown Behind The Lost Symbol is the complete handbook to The Lost Symbol and the only book to take it's lead from the new novel. Illuminating the text for new readers and devotees alike and following the tried and tested A-Z format of our earlier guides, Behind The Lost Symbol will also include eight pages of colour plates. Subjects thought to be included are the secretive (and, to some, sinister) world of Freemasonry, the masonic symbolism found in, for instance, the US onedollar bill and the architecture of Washington DC and the Rosslyn Chapel. And just what is the link to the CIA? Behind The Lost Symbol is the unmissable guide for any reader of the novel who wants to delve deeper into the mysteries, symbolism and historical contexts of Dan Brown's fiction.

JAMIE’S AMERICAN Jamie Oliver America - A country of many contrasts. For me, it presented the ultimate food trip to explore places, ingredients, food culture & traditions. I wanted to get to the heart of great American food, to get past the junk and super-sized portions. I set off on what I knew would be a completely inspiring trip. I wasn't wrong...from New York to New Orleans, the energy of Los Angeles to the big skies of Wyoming, I found what I was looking for: some of the most diverse and delicious recipes I've ever come across! And with 120 of them in this book, I'll show you the quick and easy way to put a little slice of America on your dinner table. What a trip!

SONGS OF THE HUMPBACK WHALE Jodi Picoult Jane had always lived in somebody's shadow. Escaping a childhood of abuse by marrying oceanographer Oliver Jones, she finds herself taking second place to his increasingly successful career. However, when her daughter Rebecca is similarly treated, Jane's dramatic stand takes them all by surprise. Jane and Rebecca set out to drive across America to the sanctuary of the New England apple orchard where Jane's brother Joley works. Oliver, used to tracking male humpback whales across vast oceans, now has the task of tracking his wife across a continent. To do so he must learn to see the world - and even himself through her eyes...

OUT OF THE SHADOWS Susan Lewis Since Susannah Cates' husband was sent to prison three years ago, life has been a constant struggle to provide for herself and their teenage daughter. Nothing ever seems to go right and the most she hopes for now is that nothing more will go wrong. Worried by her mother's unhappiness, thirteen-year-old Neve decides to take matters into her own hands. And when Susannah's closest friend Patsy discovers what Neve is up to, she immediately lends her support. As their plans start to unfold they have no way of knowing what kind of fates they are stirring, all they can see is Susannah's excitement, because at last a way seems to be opening up for her to escape her bad luck. However, the spectre of horror is all the time pacing behind the scenes and never, in all Susannah's worst nightmares, could she have imagined her happiness causing so much pain to someone she loves...

THE RESISTANCE Muse Fronted by one of the most distinctive voices in modern music, Matt Bellamy, alternative rock giants Muse return with their most orchestral album to date, The Resistance. Following the monumental commercial and critical success of their earlier releases, notably the multi award-winning 'Absolution' and 2006's breathtakingly eclectic 'Black Holes And Revelations', album number 5 finds the Devonshire trio in more spectacular form than ever.

DRAW THE LINE David Gray With 12 million album sales to date, including the smash hit White Ladder and number one album Life In Slow Motion, David Gray returns with his highly anticipated new album Draw The Line. Draw the Line features the single "Fugitive", and collaboration with Annie Lennox on the album’s epic finale "Full Steam Ahead". The album was written and produced by David in his North London studio, The Church. This deluxe version features a second CD of live songs recorded at the Camden Roundhouse.

TURN IT UP Pixie Lott After the surprise success of her debut single 'Mama Do (Uh Oh Uh Oh)', Kent-born starlet Pixie Lott's debut album deals in the same brand of sassy teen-pop. Most of the songs here are potential singles, and all have Lott's signature bouncy pop sensibility. Most notable aside from her chart-topping debut release are 'Here We Go Again' (produced by the legendary Red One) and the singles 'Boys And Girls' and 'Cry Me Out'. Lott herself shares writing credits on many of the songs that make up this first foray.

REVOLVED The Beatles Fronted by one of the most distinctive voices in modern music, Matt Bellamy, alternative rock giants Muse return with their most orchestral album to date, The Resistance. Following the monumental commercial and critical success of their earlier releases, notably the multi award-winning 'Absolution' and 2006's breathtakingly eclectic 'Black Holes And Revelations', album number 5 finds the Devonshire trio in more spectacular form than ever.

CELEBRATION Madonna The undisputed Queen of Pop, Madonna, releases her third definitive best of collection 'Celebration', after almost three decades of defining the cultural landscape with her own imitable style; this collection inspired by the fans is destined to be every bit as iconic as the 'Immaculate Collection'.From 'Holiday' to '4 Minutes', every song is a classic and is a must for every music collection. Includes new songs 'Celebration' and 'Revolver' with Lil' Jon.

Enchanted evenings are brewing at West Midland Safari Park

‘Special Safari Brew’ for Enchanted Evenings at West Midland Safari Park

There’s great fun brewing at West Midland Safari Park for autumn nights with the launch of their special Enchanted Evenings event, which opens on Friday, 2nd October 2009 and runs for a spell on selected evenings up to 1st November 2009.

The Sea Lions are up to their usual tricks with a stage version of a famous children’s classic tale – with a creepy twist, naturally – that will be performed each evening at the Sea Lion Theatre - and very popular it will be.

The many ghoulish goings-on includes Spooky Animal Encounters in the classroom, under the supervision of our very own witches, who will no doubt cast their magic with a little help from their best friends the Hissing Cockroach, Giant Millipede and scariest of all the Emperor Scorpion!

West Midland Safari Park’s Enchanted Evening Event starts at 5.30pm on Friday 2nd October 2009 and on 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th, 18th October and then every evening from 23rd October until 1st November 2009 – including Halloween, of course!

During the event, Tree Tops pavilion will be the venue for Creative Capers, which hosts a variety of hands-on activity sessions to suit all budding artisans and those that enjoy creating a little make believe’.

Admission to Enchanted Evenings costs £6.00 adults. £5.50 children. A Family Ticket (2ad+2ch) costs £20.00. Children under 3 years are admitted free. Multi-ride wristbands £8.00 adults. £7.50 children and a Cubs Kingdom child wristband £5.50. Family Wristband Offer (2ad+2ch) £27.50. Amusement rides are charged extra in all cases.

There’s a chance to win a prize too, by joining in with the Treasure Hunt and a chance to discover more about Darwin and his exploits in the new Darwin Trail. The Trail incorporates an illuminated walk-through, with its out of this world’ theming. Whilst the animal reserves will be closed throughout Enchanted Evenings, watch out for illuminated prehistoric creatures and more than 100 glowing animals and light boxes.

The all-weather Discovery Trail exhibits will be open too! Visit Twilight Cave, with it’s free flying bats; Creepy Crawlies home to hundreds of tiny critters of the night; Seaquarium that exhibits some wonderful creatures that live in our oceans and Mark O’Shea’s Reptile World, home to some of the deadliest snakes and reptiles around. To round off a perfectly Enchanted Evening, there are late night rides ñ including Venom and the Black Fly – along with a host of fun games and attractions to suit every ghoul and ghostie.

West Midland Safari & Leisure Park is open 7 days until Friday, 6th November 2009. Admission costs £11.50 for adults, £10.50 for children. Amusement rides charged extra in all cases. Further information is available from the website
