MDIHS Publication Consent Form

WEB PUBLISHING CONSENT FORM: STUDENT WORKS & PHOTO Studentʼs school work (i.e. creative writing, visual arts) may occasionally appear in school or District publications or websites. No consent or notice is needed before the school uses such material if the student is not identified. Parental permission is required if a studentʼs work is identified by name in a publication or website. The school limits access to buildings by outside photographers, but has no control over news media or other entities that may publish a picture of a named or unnamed student.

While the process of learning is at the heart of our mission, it is the products of this process that spur opportunities for reflection and feedback from teachers, students, parents and community members. Research has supported, when students develop works that will be shared with a wider-audience online, the quality of their work is often improved. As an educational institution, we feel sharing exemplary student efforts holds a variety of positive potentials for our students and our school-community.

A variety of changes have been made in our school website architecture to positively encourage sharing what happens in our schools with community members and to provide a broader audience for student works. In the coming moths we will also begin to broadcast on Public Access Channel 5.
