Section 1 The European exploration of the 1400’s The European exploration was a main stay for America. The Europeans sent over a lot of new innovations and even helped out in America. They had some very big innovations that we use today. The Government was controlled by the Roman Catholic Church and they were very religious. Some people did not like the Roman Catholic Church. And with the government being controlled by the church, so was society and they were also religious. Let’s take some more looks into this.
Society The European society around the 1400s was not like ours today. The Europeans had a triangle with different social classes within it. The monarchs were at the very top and the slaves were at the very bottom. The bottom is where the majority of the population was. Today we just have upper class, middle class, and lower class. On the other hand, the Europeans had nuclear families. Nuclear families consist of a husband, wife, and children. The mom's job was to stay at home, and the dads worked in the fields. Today there are not many stay at home moms, but there are single home moms. On top of that, most of all the Europeans were catholic in the 1400's. Catholicism was like the biggest religion back in the 1400's. Today Christianity is the biggest religion worldwide. In conclusion, society has changed over the years from the 1400's up to Present time (today).
Innovations A lot of innovations helped the rise of Europe to world domination. A big innovation was the advancement of the military. The rise of military helped by: larger weapons, better ships, and the advancement in technology. Another big help for Europe was in rise of navigation. Navigation helped with numerous inventions. Inventions such as the compass, sails and pin points helped out a lot. And the final big innovation was in communication. A lot of inventions helped out and ended up working successfully for communicating. Today, these innovations are standards for new inventions. Government European government as we know today was different in the 1400’s. The European government was almost like a theocracy in the 1400’s. Most of Europe was controlled by the Roman Catholic Church, so it felt more like a theocracy. On top of that, this was also around the time of the crusades. Another change in the government was caused by the crusades weakening the government. Due to these events Europe started to change dramatically. The crusades weakened the nobility and strengthened the monarchy. So all in all, the European government was like a theocracy with the nobles in charge, the crusades changed that to a monarchy.
Why does it matter now? All of the innovations that the Europeans made were standards for today's innovations like Map Quest and the GPS. Also, the society that is for us today is not like on how it was in the 1400's and this is very interesting. And finally, the reason of the Roman Catholic Church was the main power of Europe, today most Christians are Catholic.
