HARDY PLEIONE ORCHID

The lip of these rich pink flowers has a finely fringed edge and is attractively speckled inside with orange and red. Appearing from mid-spring to early summer, they will provide a colourful show towards the front of a partially shaded border. Ideally they should be grown in a pot and keep in a cool greenhouse or conservatory and kept dry over winter. Supplied in a 10.5cm pot of 6 pseudobulbs in possible shades of White, Purple, Pink, Yellow.

BLETILLA STRIATA

Bletilla striata is a small highly attractive terrestrial orchid with delicate fragrant flowers and pleated sword-shaped leaves resembling the foliage of a palm seedling. It is probably the easiest of all the orchids to grow and will usually flower in its first season. Its no-fuss I-am-not-a-Diva approach to life makes it a great choice for someone wishing to grow their first orchid without needing too much experience. An easy Orchid to grow in a pot. GROW THE TALLEST TREE LILIES EVER

Tree Lily Collection Tree lilies are the breathtaking result of years of painstaking breeding; these incredible varieties of Oriental lily can grow as tall as 2.5m (8ft) in as little as two years. One single Tree Lily bulb can produce up to thirty 20cm (8”) trumpet blooms and will take on a shrub-like appearance over the years. The sturdy stalks are almost 5cm (2”) thick, so they won’t need supporting and the foliage remains lush all season. It couldn’t be easier. Grow them through shrubs in borders, against walls and fences, or in large pots for the patio, and let them look after themselves. Height: 2.5m (8’). Spread: 60cm (24”). HARDY CALANTHE ORCHIDS

We first exhibited these spectacular showy unique plants at Bloom where their brilliance won us a coveted Gold Medal. Working with one the world’s top breeders we are delighted to make these unique plants available for the first time. Calanthe are hardy orchids with magnificent flowers that often boast a clove-like fragrance. These are very rare orchids in the wild. Although you may be under the impression that hardy orchids are hard to grow, calanthe are not. Calanthe orchids prefer light shade and will flower best in slightly moist, rich garden soil but they also tolerate very dark dry shade. They are very easy-to-grow shade perennials that multiply into very large clumps clothed in small but plentiful long spikes that carry dozens of flowers in shades of yellow, pink, red and white.

A winsome big beauty, it is the colour of warm honey with an interior blushed pale yellow and green nectary furrows. Orienpet Lilies combine the stature of the Chinese Trumpet Lily with the exotic beauty of the Oriental Hybrid Lily. Their huge, waxy flowers have slightly recurved petals, elongated anther-tipped stamens, and a subtle, fruity fragrance.

The Niagara waterfalls are impressive. As is this new Exochorda racemosa Niagara. In spring, this plant produces masses of big white flowers. Daphne gemmata ‘Royal Crown’ blooms from May to June, producing clusters of buttery yellow, star-shaped flowers at the stem tips. ACER SHIRASAWANUM ‘AUREUM’ ACER PALMATUM BLACK LACE Golden full moon maple is a choice and sought after small tree which is perfect for the smaller garden. In spring the buds open to reveal intensely bright lemon yellow foliage. As the leaves mature they will soften and Bright red helicopter-like seeds are prominently nestled in the foliage. In autumn, the tree is dotted in tones of orange and red. The slow growth and unique framework makes it an excellent choice for containers.

“Black Lace” is a new compact Japanese maple with delicate, dark purple leaves but the real magic happens in autumn. That is when the leaves of this maple turn fiery red! This new selection will stand out due to its very dark purple and gracefully shaped leaves. It is a vase-shaped plant whose leaves turn a lovey red in the autumn. Ht 150 -200cm.

When planting the edge of a driveway or around a bed of roses, there are few better plants than Giant Catmint Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’. This bushy, clump-forming perennial, is useful for separating strong colours in the shrub or flower border, and very effective when used with stone, either in walls, paving or rock gardens or as an edging plant. It forms spreading mounds of grayish green leaves that are aromatic when crushed, and the numerous flower stems carry

hundreds of small, violet-blue flowers throughout summer. This robust plant grows to about 45cm and will even grow in the poorest of soils.
