Translation Adapted from The Koren Sacks Siddur God, full of mercy, who dwells on high, grant fitting rest on the wings of the Divine Presence-in the heights of the holy and the pure, who shine like the radiance of heaven-for the souls of the six million Jews, victims of the Shoah in Europe, who were murdered, slaughtered, burned, and exterminated for the sanctification of the Name at the hands of the murderous German Nazis and their helpers from among the rest of the nations. Therefore, Master of compassion shelter them in the shadow of Your wings forever, and bind their souls in the bonds of everlasting life. The Lord is their heritage, may the Garden of Eden be their resting place, and may they receive their reward at the End of Days. Now let us say, Amen. 7

Translation Glorified and sanctified be God’s great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen. May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen. May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

For the Generation that Survives Stay the murdering hands Of humankind’s self-inflicted outrage! The world – so pillaged, Is filled with orphaned young … With mothers and fathers grieving … With widows – With babies at mothers’ dried up breasts, Vainly suckling. To whom will the inevitable fates Ever bring happiness? I see the anguish and dread Of humankind, fleeing in panic, In a world turned burial-ground, With myriads of victims and mourners are spread God Almighty! Ward off destructive ukase – And put an end to deadly contest! The world already is involved In an outcry of protest! Extinguish the fiery brands! And for humanity – For the generation that survivors – Give us joyous ease; Grant us Peace!
