Writing to Argue

Writing to Argue, Persuade and Advise Task Write a letter to the headmaster, persuading him why you think the school uniform should be changed or abandoned.

You must make sure you include the following persuasive techniques: • Rhetorical Question • Expert opinions (can be made up) • Statistics • Fact • Opinion • Counter argument • Emotive Language • Quotations (from students, parents or staff) You must also make sure you lay it out in the appropriate way, for example – the address in the right place.
