Metty graduates from Perivoli Schools Trust
November 26, 2017
Metty has now graduated from the Perivoli Schools Trust and she now has the certificate stating Metarere Simon has completed the Perivoli teacher training Programme, which was a years course
Great news for Metty! All of us : Jo, Veronica, Danny, Ellie and myself from NCCV are so proud of Metty. Metty’s family and the local community is also extremely proud and we know this is only the start for one of Opuwo’s brightest kindergarten teachers!
Background on Perivoli Schools Trust Perivoli Schools Trust began in Namibia in 2012 by sponsoring a nursery school at the Okonjima Conservancy perivoliokonjimacountryschool.org which is still running very successfully. It then sought to branch out into neighbouring rural communities by refurbishing existing nursery schools and providing toys. However, we were unable to find teachers in the rural communities who understood the importance of play and the toys disappeared, so we realised that a new approach was required. We learned the hard way that well-meaning NGO’s that spend their resources on buildings and infrastructure are invariably wasting time and money. That’s why we switched our focus to providing much-needed training. Our mission is to transform the prospects of children aged two to six in poor communities across Sub-Saharan Africa by showing nursery school teachers how to stimulate their young charges by using every day waste materials as teaching aids. NCCV head Good luck to Jo Jo Stimpson is relocating to Germany in early December, so I will be running the charity from the UK side. I have been involved from the start with Diane Mills and Jo Stimpson. I have been mainly dealing with the website and anything creative that NCCV required from the logo, exhibition banners, promotional material to the kids polo shirt design, but now will handle all
Stuart Lee heads up the UK side of NCCV as Jo Stimpson moves to Germany
Jo’s commitment to NCCV is in no doubt Jo is still a trustee and is dedicated to NCCV, but as moving to Germany, will not be running the UK side any more. We thank Jo for all her efforts and fund raising in the past, which she has done a great deal of. She will still be involved in everything NCCV but not as much as she used to due to location and her new life.

Australian visitors to Opuwo help the children of the NCCV Kindergarten Australian visitors Monica and Eddie from Australia were visiting another charity in the Karas region. Metty and Mercy met up with them in Opuwo and talked about NCCV. The couple then visited NCCV kindergarten and they arrived and very happy to see the project. YOU CAN SUPPORT NCCV
Christmas coming early for the kids of NCCV Monica and Eddie brought balls toys and paper for the kids. As you can see form the pictures the kids loved these gifts. The children in the area as a large part of the UK also, love football, even the younger ones. Our thanks go out to Monica and Eddie
HURRICANE at the Kindergarten!!! April 11, 2017
At 5pm on Monday 10th April a small hurricane hit Opuwo. Nobody has been injured but the roof of the kindergarten has been blown completely off. All equipment and teaching
materials have been moved to a safe location as building is now has no shelter and is not secure. YOU CAN SUPPORT NCCV
We are obtaining quotes and hope to get a more secure roof to replace the old one as soon as possible. This process sometimes can take some time.
Kidergarten expansion
LATEST
NEWS
The Headman has spoken to the Mayor or Kunene Region, Weich Mupia, and sometime this year the Kindergarten will get a water supply with a tap to keep our children hydrated.
September 11, 2017
The expansion to the kindergarten has started Now the ground works have begun to make a shaded area for learning and a cooking area. The amount of pupils has grown massively and we need
more space to teach. The roof will be fixed soon. Metty is overseeing the work and has organised everything!
Parents and community helping out The building work continues at the kindergarten with the parents and the ‘headman – Tate Hipandura’ helping the Kindergarten expansion. September 13, 2017
Tate Hipandura (the man with the green hat on) shows leadership by example. These pictures go to show that your donations and help get used wisely in Namibia and the community we are trying to assist also help out for the education of the children in the area with whatever they can.
September 20, 2017
Shaded area and repair of Roof to NCCV Kindergarten complete The work replacing the roof that was blown away has been completed and the shelter is finished. There is sand on the floor as it is less rough than the gravel for the kids to play on. The plan is to concrete the floor under the shelter in the future depending on funds. If you an help with supporting this work please help via our Donation page.
Great news about the NCCV Kindergarten All of us here at NCCV and the community at Katatura wish to thank you for all of your support throughout the year. Whether you are a regular donor to NCCV, you gave once for a cause, or a third party wished for you to support NCCV, we wish to THANK YOU! Your support to the kindergarten has been greatly appreciated .
THANK YOU!
Your support counts This year, with your support, we have managed to teach the children and help them progress and even create an outside shelter for outside learning as the pupil numbers have increased. If you wish to learn more about how you can support NCCV below. YOU CAN SUPPORT NCCV
The future for the kindergarten Hopefully in this next year we will be able to build an outside play area for the children which is level and not rocky, probably made of concrete. All details including size and location around the kindergarten are yet to be determined. We will keep you posted when there is a plan.
Our aims
Our needs
The purpose of the charity is to establish and maintain a children’s centre in the northern area of Kunene Region, Namibia. More specifically, Kaokoland, Opuwo Town and the surrounding areas.
• Financial donations toward our building fund. • Children’s clothes. • Help with posting children’s clothes and toys already donated.
It is hoped the centre will provide care for the orphans and vulnerable children of the area and in some cases give support to their families. The aim is to provide food, shelter when necessary, clothes, school fees (again when necessary), and to support access to medical care.
• Travellers from the UK to Namibia—are you or anyone you know travelling out to Namibia? We are looking for people who could bring some of the things that have been donated for our children.
