New Tech is different from traditional high schools because the learning is completely different. We practice a method called project based learning (PBL). PBL is different from traditional learning because instead of doing classwork day to day, we do projects. Project Based Learning; 1. receive entry document 2. talk to the text & know & need to know list 3. problem statement 4. ‘next steps’
At New Tech we are trying to acquire 21st century skills for the future, such as collaboration, work ethic, & personal capacity. Collaboration: the act of working together jointly, respecting your team members, acknowledging everyones viewpoints, etc. Work Ethic: a set of values based on hard work & diligence, the value of working hard at a task. Personal Capacity: a characteristic that shows the amount of work you can perform or produce.
** Something different about New Tech is that it consists of only freshmen so you don’t have to have the worries of everyday high school.
At New Tech we follow 3 essential principles; including trust, respect, & responsibility . Trust: to allow without fear, we show this at new tech by allowing our computers & bags to be left in a classroom without fearing they will be lost & misplaced. Respect: a condition of being honored Responsibility: a form of trustworthiness
