THE ARTS: A Logical, Universal Design For Learning
FALL Cluster Retreat This one day professional development opportunity is designed for teams of Pre-K to 12th grade classroom teachers, arts specialists, teaching artists, principals and superintendents who will experience, observe and create arts integrated lessons using Common Core State Standards and principles of Universal Design for Learning. Attendees will experience a model lesson, created and piloted by a Mississippi teaching artist and teacher, that can be adapted to fit any grade level. Through group work, reflection and open discussions, attendees will leave with a list of creative strategies that will provide their students with an opportunity to deepen learning and nurture 21st Century Skills.
At the conclusion of the workshop, teams will discuss “best practices” of quality professional development in preparation for future in-service trainings with faculty at their school to cultivate professional learning communities. REGISTRATION FEE: $50 per participant, Due before the event or at the door. Each school may bring no more than a total of 6 participants. CEU CREDITS: Participants may earn .5 CEU Credit. The fee is $15 payable at the event - Cash or Check payable to Delta State University.
