CAN CRUISING DECREASE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT?

At MSC Cruises we believe it can be. From introducing on our latest ships the cleanest marine fuel available to our state-of-the-art water treatment facilities, we’re putting environmental responsibility at the heart of everything we do. To preserve the sea we call home, and change cruising for good. A particular focus is on minimising air emissions, with systems in place to meet or exceed regulatory limits, and efforts to reduce our carbon emissions profile, including extensive energy efficiency measures on board every ship. Reducing, reusing and recycling waste generated onboard is a key focus across our entire fleet, and we are working hard to eliminate all non-essential single-use plastics from our ships.

Over 80% of freshwater produced on board our fleet is from desalinated seawater – up to 3 million litres per ship every day!

Advanced wastewater treatment ensures all water consumed is purified before returning to the sea. Every ship in the fleet has a dedicated full-time Environmental Officer responsible for environmental compliance and providing training and education to all our crew.
