Manchester Student Homes has a focus on off-campus issues and a commitment to supporting students living in the community. The team that leads this area of work is The Good Neighbours Team. Living in an off-campus area means you are part of a diverse and vibrant local community which extends further than your immediate neighbours. Manchester Student Homes can help you get to know your area and the people who live around you to enhance your student experience. The ‘Halls 2 Home’ campaign is designed to help you during the transition from Halls of Residence to your own home through a series of workshops, educational campaigns, events, and initiatives throughout the year. This equips you with the right tools to be a ‘good neighbour’ when you first settle into your new home and ensures you feel supported when you live off-campus.
The Good Neighbours Team also produces a number of publications such as the handy ‘Welcome to the Community’ guide, which can be found on our website at: manchesterstudenthomesnews. wordpress.com/gnt/

Partnership Working Manchester Student Homes works closely with partnership agencies such as Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council to make sure students are supported on a wide range of issues such as personal safety, household security, fire prevention, and waste and recycling. Manchester Student Homes also has a number of educational and awareness campaigns. Community Events Throughout the year, Manchester Student Homes hosts a series of community events where students can come together to meet other members of the community; including long-term residents and community representatives. These are held both on and off-campus and include hidden gems, community fete, and door knocking. These events are publicised in The Good Neighbours Team online Halls 2 Home page.
Awareness campaigns / Civic Responsibilities For students living off-campus, it is an exciting time and a chance for you to experience being an honorary Mancunian. It is important to be aware that you live in a mixed community, and with this comes a number of civic responsibilities. Manchester Student Homes works closely with partners to manage issues such as: • Alcohol and Drugs • Environmental Issues • Noise and Anti-Social Behaviour • Student Safety • Student Contributions and the impact these can have on the wider community. Off Campus Management The Manchester Student Partnership Off Campus Management Plan, which outlines the activity that each of the partners is undertaking to proactiviy and reactively respond to issues in off campus communities, can be found here: www.issuu.com/msh9/docs/off_ campus_management
