New Year Check List 1) Check the entire property for leaks, insecurities, damages etc. 2) Tell your landlord and neighbours you are back. 3) Check for condensation and open windows where necessary. 4) Readjust your heating timer but keep your property warm to prevent freezing pipes – at least a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening. 5) Check taps and gas appliances. 6) Check your fridge and freezer to ensure they are still working properly (in case there was a power cut whilst you were away). 7) Make sure packaging from your gadgets/Christmas presents are placed in the correct bins and out of sight – an over flowing recycling bin will let thieves know you have a lot of new valuables to steal. 8) Reactivate any regular subscriptions/deliveries. 9) Keep your doors and windows locked – even when you are in the property. 10) One for your New Year Resolutions – help the environment by recycling more. 11) Read our Student Safety information flyer: UK Students - Student Safety Flyer Non-UK Students - International Student Safety Flyer 12) Contact Manchester Student Homes for more housing information, advice and guidance.
