High-Waist Pant

Vibrant prints were not only seen in our daily wear but also in our beach and swim attire. From blooming florals to bright bold prints in various styles, this is one of the hottest swimsuit trends!

Strappy swimsuits caused quite the scene on runways with lots of criss-cross lacing, splicing zig-zag lacing and thin multi-straps that shows off our silhouettes. On the contrary, the torso cutout took one- piece swimsuits and deconstructed them with cutouts that placed an emphasis on the midriff hence not showing as much. High-waist bottom swimsuits were paired with retro tops in technical fabrics to give them a more modern twist. The popular cropped top made its way to swimwear with a play on sporty, yet sexy shoulder revealing halter bikini tops.

Mesh swimsuits or sheer knit inserts attached to them, created a sporty and flirty vibe. Meanwhile, detached band swimsuits created a dynamic and ultra-sexy silhouette by splitting the bands from bikini tops and bottoms. All Rights Reserved by Stylemechicny.com Images from www.wgsn.com

SUMMER BEAUTY TRENDS 2015 Summer is the season where when you find great beauty and skincare products that help you get through the summer without melting or burning away and they are our gems!

Skincare: For those of us who suffer from oily skin and blemishes, a great product to try is Black Soap and its allnatural. If you suffer from dry skin, kill two birds with one stone and use organic coconut oil to not only help you take off your make-up but use it as a cleanser to put the moisture back into those pores. Finally, exfoliating is great to do this time of year because it helps remove more dirt from our pores giving our skin a much more radiant appearance.

Our Picks: 1. Dr.Wood Shea Vision, Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter $13.99. 2. Spectrum Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Unrefined $11.99 3. Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System $149.99 4. Lush Honey Trap Lip Exfoliate $7.25

To Tan or Not To Tan: Not everyone is interested in getting darker during the summer months. Some of us walk around with a natural tan all year round and others simply cannot tan. There are two amazing options if you simply cannot tan, try using a self tanner or just a glowing body oil to give you the same effect of a tan. These are also great options if you are against sun bathing or tanning. Too much sun exposure is a bad thing especially if you aren’t protecting your skin. Therefore, the most important item you should be using on a daily basis is sunscreen! Skin cancer doesn’t discriminate on skin tones, so it doesn’t matter whether you burn or not, always use it!

Our Picks: 1. Nars Body Glow Oil $35.00 2. Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel $37.00 3. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 100+ $12.00 4. Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70 $11.00

Make-Up: Summer can sometimes be our worst enemy in regards to wearing make-up but it doesn’t always have to be. As the seasons change, so do our make-up regimens. A few key items that will help get us through those super hot days are wearing lighter foundations like a great CC Cream and wearing lip stains over lipsticks so it does not bleed off your lips. Since most of us do turn a few shades darker, try bronzers instead of blushes to give you a glow-like affect and use highlighters to pronounce your features more in that sunlight! whether you have oily or dry skin, try a good setting spray to give you a matte finish for oily skin or a dewy finish for dryer skin.

These are more of an artistic print with less defined lines and more blurred ones, similar to water coloring. The prints come across softer and subtle, so if prints are not really your thing, consider trying this one!

When you think of Bohemian, one of the first items that come to mind is the peasant dress. Since it’s a more minimalistic piece, it’s a much easier trend to incorporate into our wardrobes. The best part is there’s lots of variety with fringe, lace, ruching or off the shoulder options!

Tattoos are huge again this summer and the best part is they no longer require a lifetime commitment because they are temporary! Colorful, festive, artistic, tribal and metallic options, what more could a girl want? Flash Tattoos were major last summer and still are this season but they’ve added some color to their latest collections like turquoise and ocean blues; because gold and silver wasn’t enough. Bourjois Body Tattoos and Lottie London’s Splash Tatts have also created beautiful temporary colored tattoos in delicate, artful, feminine shapes. NPW introduced 3D Face Stickers in pretty pansy and butterfly shapes while Bindis have taken over the face sticker scene. Both are perfect for the hipster 1970’s era we are currently reliving!

Avocado is a unique fruit that is rich and creamy, loaded with over 20 different minerals and vitamins, nutritious fats and beneficial fiber to provide a nutrient dense treat perfect for a number of recipes. The Hass avocado, commonly referred to as the ‘alligator pear’, is the most popular avocado type and received its alias from its pear shape, green and bumpy skin like the reptile. Of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of nutrients and vitamins, a serving of avocado, 3.5 ounces (100grams) provides 27% fiber, 26% vitamin K, 14 % vitamin B5, 17% vitamin C, 14% potassium and zero cholesterol and sodium. Many research studies have linked avocado’s rich nutrient profile to reducing the disease risk of cancer, type II diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases. It contains good healthy fats, monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) especially oleic acid, which has correlation to reducing inflammation markers in the body. Its fat components also contribute to more efficient digestion and absorption of the fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K along with carotenoids. Even with its creamy texture, avocado provides over a quarter of your daily fiber needs. Fiber is integral to weight loss and management as it feeds healthy gut bacteria essential for digestion, adds bulk to your meal keeps satiated for longer and prevents the consumption of excess calories. Summer months are upon us, so let’s explore fun and exciting recipes to have your family and friends yelling ‘holy guacamole!’ Eggs can be paired well with avocado for a breakfast option or even for a yummy snack or treat for a house party. Scrambled eggs with mashed avocado is easy to prepare at any time of the day that when loaded onto a slice of multigrain toast creates a meal with complex carbs, lean protein and nutritious fats. By removing an egg yolk or two, hard-boiled egg whites with avocado, flavored with pepper and a pinch of course sea salt, you cut back on your saturated fat intake and increase your good fats. Adding a poached egg on top of avocado mash on whole grain pita also makes a quick and easy to share midday treat. Avocado Mash ¼ ripe Avocado 2 whole eggs 2 egg whites Salt and pepper to taste Add eggs to cold water and bring to a boil for ten minutes. Remove the egg yolks from two eggs. Peel avocado and crush with a fork while scrambling eggs. Add salt and pepper.

Deviled eggs are a favorite at any house party. Making a delicious guacamole filling is a tasty twist to the fiesta food and the additional can be used for a dip. 8 whole eggs 2 Avocados-peeled, pitted and mashed 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro 1 tablespoon minced green onion 2 teaspoons minced seeded jalapeno pepper 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice ½ teaspoon salt, to taste 1 teaspoon Dijon-style prepared mustard 1 dash of hot pepper sauce 1 pinch of paprika

Place eggs in cold water and bring water to a boil for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, and peel. Slice eggs in halves, and remove yolks to a mixing bowl. In the bowl with the yolks, combine the avocado (add lime juice now), cilantro, green onion, and jalapeno. Season with salt, hot sauce, and mustard. Mix well. Using a spoon or pastry bag

(or zip top bag with a corner cut off on an angle) add/pipe the guacamole into the egg whites. Fill empty egg white halves. Chill until serving. Sprinkle with paprika just before serving.

Creamy Avocado Pesto 1 ripe Avocado, peeled, pitted, and diced 1 cup fresh basil leaves 1/3 cup pine nuts 3 cloves garlic, chopped 1 lemon (juiced) 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil Water as needed Salt and pepper to taste Combine avocado, basil, pine nuts, and garlic in a food processor or blender. With machine running, slowly stream in the lemon juice, olive oil, and water needed to achieve a smooth pesto. Puree until completely blended and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Use immediately on chicken or pasta immediately, or keep refrigerated for up to four hours. Avocado can be the main ingredient or bold condiment at breakfast, lunch or dinner or just for a light snack in between. It is loaded with nutritious goodies that make every calorie well worth it. Nutrition should always be delicious, cheers to the guac!

It’s that time of the year, where the NBA’s top teams face off to crown the seasons champion. The elite eight teams from the east and west battled, and now we are down to the last four teams. The Cleveland Cavaliers led by Lebron James are competing against Al Horford and the Atlanta Hawks for the Eastern Conference Champions. Over in the west the Golden State Warriors led by sharp shooter and MVP Stephen Curry, are taking on the James Harden’s Houston Rockets. As teams fight to win their respective conferences, it’s only right for them to showcase their style off the court; from the classics to the funky street. Often we think that in order to dress like a NBA superstar you need to have thousands of dollars to spend. However for this edition of NBA style we put together a few outfits to show how to look like you’re on your way to the arena without breaking the bank. Here’s how to do the look for less: Our first look was i nspired by Stephen Curry. The model is wearing an H&M varsity jacket. Underneath we have a long sleeve dress shirt from Uniqlo. For pants, we thought we give the look some texture with these soft denim sweats from Zara's.

To complete the ensemble, we paired Nike elite basketball socks with high-top Louis Vuitton sneakers.

The second look is another relaxed look that we’ve seen on several players this season. The model is wearing a mandarin collar inspired denim long sleeve shirt from H&M. The distressed ripped trousers are another hot item from Zara's. To finish the look we added an Armani Exchange fitted cap and Retro Jordan 11 kicks.

Will the same team holding the Larry O’Brien trophy in June, also be the team with the best playoff style? Stay tuned. All Rights Reserved by Stylemechicny.com Model Images from www.wgsn.com

WHAT THEY WORE? SVCCESS FASHION SHOW RECAP

The “VE” Svccess Fashion uniquely spelled with a “v” instead of a “u” has been gaining some popularity. The clothing brand held its annual fashion show Saturday June 6th, 2015. The venue was well decorated with signs of “VE” throughout the room, a gift bags on every chair with tons of goodies for the guests in attendance. I was impressed with the menswear pieces that hit the runway. The overall collection was cohesive and showcased categories such as: T-Shirts, Tanks, Hooded Sweaters, Bottoms and Hats (Buckets & Fitted). Some of my favorite looks featured a variety of prints such as: the food groups, comic book strips, and a show of patriotism inspired by New York City culture and the American Flag. Graphic impact for casual shirts is huge this summer, shifting from traditional bright photographic offerings to more hand-rendering flora and foliage this season.

Summer Trend Edition: Florals

Florals, a popular trend that was carried over from Spring and into Summer is still going strong. Play with variations such as micro floral prints which are printed tightly and showcase very little background, or others with much larger floral patterns. Either way you will be summer ready with this trend. Mix things up with a great pair of denim, whether a dark wash or a lighter chambray wash. Sneakers and oversized colorful sunnies are a great complement for this trend. For the gentlemen who are open to shorts, on the hotter summer days, a great pair of white cargo shorts will complete this look effortlessly. Summer Trend Edition: Florals
