MUSTANG LACROSSE The second half of the 2021 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule shifts into high gear this weekend. Head coach Caitlin St. Marie’s women’s team and head coach Jack O’Brien’s men’s team welcome Missouri Valley College Saturday and the University of St. Mary Sunday for doubleheaders on the Tom Rosen Field FieldTurf. Both sides are searching for their initial program victories. Missouri Valley’s women sport a 1-3 overall and league record, and the Viking men stand 1-4 overall and in the conference. USM’s men are winless in overall and loop action, as are the Spire women. Morningside College’s first loop through the KCAC continued to offer top-notch opposition on March 20. The Mustangs were defeated by a pair of Benedictine College squads that have caught the National Association Intercollegiate Athletics’ pollsters’ eyes. The women were beaten 26-0 by the No. 4-ranked Ravens, and the men were stopped 24-0 by a BC bunch receiving votes. The Maroon received good save numbers from both first-year netminders. Men’s keeper Austin Streeter turned in six saves, and Natalie Hunt registered nine for the women. The offense received front billing digits from sophomore women’s attacker Lizeth Hilario who had two shot attempts, and sophomore men’s attacker Brendan Rorabacher wound up with one attempt and gathered three ground balls. Hunt’s totals last weekend kept her part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ top 10 in saves. She’s ninth in total rescues (49), and her 9.8 saves per match are 10th-best. Streeter’s digits are also garnering national acclaim. His 31 saves are No. 26, and his 7.75 saves per outing stand 22nd. Morningside’s men take to the road for a Friday, April 3, matinee at Missouri Baptist University. Match time is 1 p.m. at Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex in St. Louis, Mo.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION Before a twin bill at Midland University Friday, MVC’s men picked up their first 2021 triumph with a 10-7 decision over the University of St. Mary on March 23. The sophomore duo of attacker Ethan Houston and face-off specialist Noah Reff guide JD LeMay’s crew. Reff tallied five goals and six assists,
