WRESTLING WEDNESDAY, DEC. 1 2021 GPAC WRESTLING DUALS MATCHDAY The first of two Great Plains Athletic Conference dual events visits The Arena Academy in Sioux City this evening. LOOKING AT THE FIELD: Seven league programs went into the 2021-22 campaign with National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics ranking recognition. Doane University, the defending champion, topped the list at No. 3. Hastings, Briar Cliff, Morningside, Concordia, and Northwestern were among the Receiving Votes section. All 10 weight classes have at least one conference wrestler among the top 20. Doane’s Baterdene Boldmaa is ranked No. 1 at 141 to headline those listings. The Tigers also have 125-pounder Daniel Vargas at No. 3 as does Midland University with Tyson Beauperthuy at 197. SECOND GPAC DUALS DATE: The conference returns to The Arena Academy Saturday, Jan. 29. Action begins at 10 a.m. 2022 GPAC CHAMPIONSHIPS/NAIA CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIER: Dakota Wesleyan University is the host school for the championships Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18 and 19. The event venue is the Avera Sports and Wellness Center in Mitchell, S.D.
