Accounting
Accounting is a highly skilled profession, with staff working at many different levels across every sector and industry. Apprentices will take the accounting qualification relevant to their Apprenticeship level. Job roles in accounts vary. You could work in literally any industry, and apply your skills to any business type – from large public sector companies and major corporations, to football clubs and small media firms. Whatever type of company you want to work for, they will always need the services of an accountant. Completing a Higher Apprenticeship, you can progress to full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians. You could then complete a professional accountancy qualification with a chartered body such as ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or ICAS. Successfully completing the Higher Apprenticeship offers a fast track route onto chartered studies through exemptions from certain parts of the syllabus. The extent of these exemptions is different from body to body.

mortgages, long-term care insurance or other financial matters like pensions and savings depending on the pathway chosen. You’ll be meeting clients, staying up-to-date with financial markets, negotiating prices with providers of financial products and putting together financial plans based on your client discussions. People work hard for their money, and deciding what to do with it can be daunting – so you’ll need a trustworthy manner and the ability to explain complex matters in simple terms. A good head for figures does help, but being a people person is more important. Financial advisers often work in business environments - a professional manner and a smart appearance are crucial.
It’s up to the payroll team to make sure that everyone in the company gets the right amount of money, at the right time. If anything goes wrong then payroll staff are the first people the employees will call. An employee’s pay is incredibly important to them, and you’ll be expected to answer queries and solve problems in an efficient, friendly and discreet manner remember, you’ll have access to a lot of very sensitive financial records and other confidential information. It’s not an easy job: payroll clerks are responsible for figuring out how much employees should get paid by adding up all their overtime, deducting enough to cover tax and national insurance payments, and taking into account things like holiday, sick pay and expenses. Most payroll departments are lively, office-based teams. Organisational skills are important, and while having a good grasp of numbers will help you a great deal, a methodical and attention to detail will get you even further. On the Advanced Apprenticeship you will build on what has been learned at level 2, introducing more complex payroll tasks, including year end procedures. You will also train more in developing effective payroll management skills. On the Apprenticeship you will take the payroll qualifications which relate to the core skills needed to work effectively in payroll. Topics covered include calculating gross and net pay and how to maintain accurate employee records.

Apprenticeships in IT
IT Apprenticeships are set to become an increasingly important development route for new entrants to the profession as the speed of change dictates that learning about new technologies and ways of working as they happen in the business environment will be much more productive than learning theory in the classroom. We currently offer two different IT apprenticeship options - one is suitable for those who want to become proficient in using a range of different IT applications in the workplace and the other is for those who wish to pursue a career as an IT network administrator or to work in an IT desktop support/service desk role. We are also in the process of developing a new programme to train the IT software developers of the future - watch out for this over the coming months. IT User Apprenticeship - today most business environments require employees to use IT applications. IT user is not necessarily a job title but a skill that most employers would like their employees to have. Therefore an ITQ Apprentice could work in a variety of roles including office support administrator, marketing administrator, HR administrator, secretary, project support officer etc. IT Professional Apprenticeship - Networking and Installation As an Apprentice on this programme you are likely to be working in an IT technical support role, installing and troubleshooting desktop PCs or as a network planner, designing and planning the installation of IT networks. The Apprenticeship provides the opportunity to undertake a number of Microsoft vendor units.

About your training
One of the great things about business and administration is that you can work almost anywhere. With your transferable skills, you could be working in a record company or a charity. Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly. 97% of employers say that effective administration is essential to their business. Administration roles are also an excellent starting point to move into management once you have more experience - and with the extended range of Advanced Apprenticeships that we deliver this is a great starting point for career progression within a range of sectors. While Business & Administration is a great starting point for many and varied careers because of the disciplines it covers and the many transferrable skills you will develop, there is also an opportunity to start focusing your career path at the Advanced Apprenticeship level by choosing to specialise in a particular occupational area of administration. This year we hope to offer new Advanced Apprenticeships for those wishing to specialise as medical/health and legal administrators/secretaries. You may also develop into a supervisory role whilst undertaking an Advanced Apprenticeship. As a Business and Administration apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer. At the intermediate level it’s likely that you’ll be working with a team or member of staff to handle various tasks. You may be typing up board meeting documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, sending the daily post, or faxing and photocopying documents. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.

Construction Craft
“ I had done joinery and bricklaying courses at school and wanted to do a hands on job so this has been great for me. It has made me a more confident person both in work and my life in general. I will benefit now I hope because I am a qualified joiner and I have more opportunitues with a trade behind me. Jack Stretton, Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship
N
Introduction
Construction is a multi-billion pound industry that deals with developing and building anything from a housing estate to a bridge. Few industries are as wide-ranging, or offer so many different career pathways. The Construction Craft trades offer Apprentices lots of occupations to choose from – if you’re the sort who enjoys physical work, you could help lay the foundations of a ten-storey building; build scaffolding around a famous landmark due for restoration; plaster the interior of an office building; or maintain heavy plant. With a Construction Apprenticeship, you could be working on various sites in your region and beyond – there are also plenty of opportunities to work abroad, as many of the largest construction companies operate around the world. No matter where you start your career, if you have the determination and work hard, there’ll be plenty of chances to move up the career ladder. An Apprenticeship requires dedication and hard work so you should be certain you are committed to pursuing a career within this industry. Our Apprenticeships combine the best of accredited practical training delivered at our state-ofthe art SkillCentre. Diplomas/technical certificates for many of the Craft trades can be undertaken at our SkillCentre.
Carpentry & Joinery (Wood Occupations)
Site Carpenters prepare, fix and erect many timber components that go into the construction of a building. This can include installation of timber stairs, construction of floors, walls, roofs and expertly crafted windows and doors. They also add the finishing touches such as fixing skirting board and architrave. Joiners use specialised hand and power tools and work with a variety of different types of wood, plastic and other materials. Bench Joiners make doors, windows, door and window frames, staircases and specialised tailor-made furniture. They work predominantly inside and are usually based in a workshop environment, occasionally going out on site to measure, fix and install manufactured timber components.

Surveying
The surveying, property and maintenance programme contains five pathways of specialisation: maintenance, quantity surveying, general practice, building surveying and valuation.
28
About your training
Shop Fitting Bench Joiners make the shop fronts and interior fittings, whilst the site shop fitter installs and fixes them on site. Both are highly skilled people who, with great care, transform empty premises into fashionable shops, cafes and bars. Working to designers’ plans and instructions they use many different types of material and techniques to achieve the desired effect. Wood Machinists work inside, producing all the timber components ready for assembly by bench joiners/fitters for the installation by site carpenter or shop fitters. This includes floorboards, cladding, window sections, skirting board and architrave etc. setting up, maintaining and safely operating the machines. Wood machinists carry out quite complex measurements.
Heritage
This series of seminars on Heritage Construction aims to provide attendees with a basic knowledge and understanding of the traditional building skills needed for work on pre 1919 buildings.
Painting and Decorating
This Apprenticeship is not just involved in hanging wallpaper! As a Painter & Decorator you can play an important role in the paining and finishing of structural steel and concrete work used in bridges, factories, industrial and commercial buildings. You must also be able to apply a number of specialist painting and other finishing techniques to provide ornamental effects commonly found in stately homes, town halls and top hotels.
Plant Maintenance
A Plant Maintenance Apprentice is an essential member of the construction team, ensuring that all the heavy-duty machinery used in the building process is running properly and is reliable. Breakdowns of large cranes, excavators, graders and trucks can result in very costly delays to the contractor. A plant mechanic therefore must be on call and able to quickly repair equipment on site or in a workshop.
The course covers, Architectural heritage, Regulatory/principles relating to heritage, Materials & Methods of construction. Apprentices can achieve an Ascentis Level 2 Award or a Construction Skills NVQ Level 3 Diploma.

If you have the determination and desire to work hard there’ll be plenty of opportunities to move up the career ladder. A Construction Mechanical Apprenticeship requires dedication and hard work, so you need to be certain you have the commitment in pursuing a career within this industry. Construction Mechanical covers a range of trades such as Domestic Gas, Domestic Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Heating & Ventilation, Utilities (gas & electrical) and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. Our Apprenticeships combine the best accredited practical training delivered in our state of the art SkillCentre or at a specialist college, and hands on work experience with an employer.
Choosing the Right Trade
The names of some of the Mechanical Apprenticeships can be quite similar to those available under the Engineering frameworks, so make sure you look into all options before applying, for example ‘Electrical Installation’ is different to ‘Electrical Engineering’.

About your training
Gas - The Domestic Gas Services Apprenticeship covers a range of job roles in the industry. It enables you to train to work in the installation, service and repair of gas appliances in a domestic environment. These appliances could include full central heating systems, cookers and gas fires. Gas installation and maintenance service engineers are trained to connect appliances to gas supplies, carry out regular servicing activities and undertake gas leak detection work. All those engaged in domestic gas activities must, under statute, be working with a competent Gas Safe registered engineer. As an Apprentice, once you have gained the experience required you will then work towards registration on the Gas Safe Register. As well as technical ability, you need to be methodical, have good people skills and be able to work in a manner which gives customers confidence in the work carried out. Plumbing - The plumbing industry is a key part of the UK’s construction industry. It is a highly competitive field, that employs skilled craftspeople and technicians who work primarily within domestic and small commercial buildings. This Apprenticeship covers training in a wide range of traditional plumbing activities to include: installing hot and cold water systems, central heating systems, bathrooms suits, showers, sinks and rainwater systems. In recent years, the industry has also been involved with developing environmentally based technologies such as solar water heating and rain water harvesting. Once the Apprenticeship has been achieved the Advanced Apprenticeship pathway options will be available. This consists of more complex plumbing applications, system planning and also includes a gas option. Electrical Installation - This Apprenticeship deals with the installation of complete electrical systems to domestic and commercial / industrial buildings. During your training you will learn all about site requirements for health & safety along with how to prepare, position, install and connect wiring systems to all types of buildings and electrical equipment. You will also learn how to inspect, test, diagnose and correct electrical faults. For this career, you will need a keen interest in technology, good analytical skills and the ability to work using your own initiative. A lot of the work involves identifying cables and components by colour, therefore normal colour vision is mandatory and you will be required to take a Colour Blindness Test.
35
Heating and Ventilation Installation - This Apprenticeship involves the installation, servicing and maintenance of heating systems to commercial and industrial buildings. Heating and Ventilation Engineers are highly skilled and able to carry out plumbing / heating installation operations on a larger scale than required for domestic heating systems. This type of work is carried out mainly across industrial and commercial locations such as hospitals, offices and schools. Once the Apprenticeship has been achieved the Advanced Apprenticeship pathway option will be available, this covers more complex systems and also includes carrying out various types of advanced welding techniques such as oxy-acetylene (full licence) and arc welding (provisional). Refrigeration and Air Conditioning - As a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprentice will be taught to install, service and repair temperature and air quality control systems. Installation, service and maintenance of refrigeration systems typically includes working on industrial fridges and chilled cabinets typically found in supermarkets for example. For Air Conditioning installation, service and maintenance is typically carried out in office developments, hospitals and commercial buildings. As part of your Apprenticeship you will be required to achieve the mandatory F Gas (2079) qualification, and will only be allowed to carry out gas exchange in refrigerant systems once achieved. Engineers will usually travel throughout the Northwest and nationwide, working in a populated environment. As a result you will need to have good people skills and be safety conscious. Once the Apprenticeship has been achieved the Advanced Apprenticeship pathway options will be available, this consists of carrying out more complex refrigeration applications.

Engineering Manufacturing
N
Introduction
From the moment you wake to the time you go to bed you will constantly come into contact with the world of Engineering & Manufacturing. Making things (manufacturing) and making things work (engineering) - that’s what Apprenticeships in this sector are all about. The toast or breakfast cereal you eat has been produced, packaged and despatched by machinery which has been designed, built, installed and maintained by Engineers. So too has your toothbrush and toothpaste, your shoes and clothes, your computer and mobile phone. Whichever way you travel, by bus, the car, the tram, the train or your bike - all required engineers to design, build and maintain both the finished product and the machinery needed to produce it. If you fly away for holidays, the aeroplane and all the support equipment you see in the airport has been designed and built by Engineers. Every time you turn a key or flick a switch you bring to life another piece of the world of engineering. Engineering is all around us and the developments in technology mean that we will always need young engineers with new ideas to secure our future. Manufacturing covers a wide range of industries too from food to pharmaceuticals, circuit boards for the electronics and telecoms industry, to furniture manufacturing, chemical processing and heavy goods vehicle trailer building, to name just a few.
including: Design, Production, Maintenance and Fabrication. Design Engineers use their drawing and computer skills to bring their ideas to life. All engineering projects start with someone who can transfer ideas of their own and other people into sketches and drawings which can be made into real components and working models. Production Engineers use hand skills and machine tools to convert the ideas of the designer into real components and working machinery. Some production machines are computer controlled and operate at very high speeds. The components can be used to build such things as aeroplanes, cars, elevators and packaging machines.

What areas of Engineering can I train in?
Engineering is a varied industry and an ideal career choice for young people who are inquisitive and like to build things or find out how things work. There are a number of areas that you can specialise in when you have mastered the basics
40
About your training
Maintenance Engineers install the machinery on site and use problem solving and technical skills to quickly identify and repair faulty or worn out equipment such as pumps, valves, electric motors, chains and gears. Maintenance Engineers can specialise as mechanical or electrical technicians, although there are great opportunities in modern industry for people who have experience of both. Fabrication Engineers use forming and welding skills to build metal structures for many uses. They can build things such as air conditioning and ventilation systems, transport containers, bridges and walkways, earth moving vehicles, ships and trains. See also our information on Construction Mechanical and Automotive Apprenticeships in this prospectus to be sure you apply for the right option.
Manufacturing Apprenticeships
Performing Manufacturing Operations These Apprenticeships will cover Organising and Controlling Manufacturing Operations. All training and assessment is conducted in the workplace. The supporting underpinning knowledge qualification is also delivered in the workplace. Food Manufacture/ Warehouse & Storage This Apprenticeship covers a wide range of job roles within food manufacture, from quality checkers and bakers to logistics officers and butchers. Getting food on the shelves depends on a range of different people doing various jobs within food manufacturing. Warehouse & Storage can apply to the logistics of any area of manufacturing & production.
Advanced Apprenticeship
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering takes about three and a half years. You will be expected to keep good timekeeping and attendance record and will be required to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering and how things work (especially when you make your initial application to us!) see the course listings opposite for entry criteria and details of the selection process. When you complete the Advanced Apprenticeship, you could, with your employer’s support, continue your studies to gain a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Degree in Engineering (BSc). This is the ideal way to achieve your higher qualifications in Engineering as you will have a great balance of real experience, training in the specifics of the industry you are in as well as benefiting from the achievement of academic qualifications that other graduates may achieve but without having built up excessive debts.
Advanced Apprenticeship – Training Involved
Training on the Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3 will cover the skills you need to do your job and would be agreed with you and your employer and could focus on any of the following aspects of Engineering: Design, Production, Maintenance, Fabrication, Electrical/Electronic, Technical Support, and Installation & Servicing. Through your technical certificate you will learn the underpinning knowledge which supports your practical skills development. On successful completion of all the above qualifications you would also receive The Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate from the Engineering lead body SEMTA.

“I have recently completed my Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care Level 3. Apprenticeships in Health, Social Care, Early Years & Schools
Introduction
Working in health, social care, childcare, and teaching and learning support roles can be very rewarding – but equally demanding work! If this is the career path for you then there are lots of different directions you could take – below are a few of the ranges of Apprenticeships we support in this sector.
Children’s Care, Learning and Development
This Apprenticeship is for people who work with children from birth to 16-year-olds (and their families) - in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development. Workers in this area make sure children are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished. They also help children develop social and practical skills. This Apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while they put their childcare theory into practice. This may be in Early Years or Social Care. As an Apprentice the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer. The Apprenticeship is for those working under supervision such as a nursery assistant or playgroup assistant working with children under five or an assistant playworker in an out of school setting. The Advanced Apprenticeship is for those who work on their own initiative, planning and organising their own work and/or supervising others, for example, a nursery nurse, playgroup leader, and supporting support/residential social worker or child minder working in their own home. After successful completion of this Apprenticeship there’s good scope for progression. You may move up through levels of work, for example, from nursery assistant to nursery manager. There are also opportunities to undertake further training or assessment.

About your training
Teaching and Learning Support
This Apprenticeship is about providing support in the classroom. Learning support staff, such as teaching assistants or cover supervisors, play a vital role in today’s classrooms by making sure students get the most out of their lessons. They work with teachers, carry out duties like lesson preparation and work with small groups or individuals, allowing the teacher to concentrate on teaching the class. Some learning support staff could specialise in areas like music or special needs. As an Apprentice, you will work under the close supervision of a class teacher. Your duties will vary depending on how the teachers you work with plan their lessons and day-to-day classroom activities – however, you could find yourself supervising arts and crafts activities, helping with outings or reading to the class.
There are many separate qualifications available within the Health Care Apprenticeship ranging from maternity to radiotherapy support. Opportunities for progression and development are excellent and completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship will stand you in good stead for progression in your work role or onto further training or higher education in subjects like social work, nursing or midwifery assistant practitioner or management roles.
The Advanced Apprenticeship will add more responsibility to the role. You could help plan, carry out and evaluate a wide range of learning activities. You will work both alongside the teacher to support classroom activities and alone with individuals or groups of students. It is a good stepping-stone to a Foundation Degree or Higher Level Teaching Assistant training.
Health and Social Care
Social care is about supporting or helping people with a particular need, such as an older person or a person who has a physical or learning disability. This type of care may take place in the person’s home or in a care home and can include anything from helping people get dressed to preparing and providing food and drinks to escorting them to and from an appointment or residential home. Health Care is about supporting individuals who have more complex care needs and may again take place in the person’s home, the hospital or clinic or in a nursing home. This Apprenticeship covers a wide range of job roles in the Health Care and social care fields including the NHS, the independent sector, nursing, residential care or domicilliary care agencies. The type of job role you are in will determine which Apprenticeship you will undertake. This could be Health or Social Care. You could also be supporting doctors or nurses in clinical roles or helping patients in hospital wards or their homes - serving food, making and changing beds and so on.

Management Leadership
“ The classes were diverse, informative but also fun. The ability to discuss pretty much any work related problem with fellow professionals (which were not involved at work) was also a really useful part. Yes, there was deadline stress for some of the projects, but by liaising with the tutors, most of that could be avoided. Mirjam Groen Professional Apprentice in Management

Leadership and Management Apprenticeships
the added value of master class workshops delivered by industry experts - read on to find out more about our leadership and management programmes.
UK figures show that 890,000 new managers are needed between now and 2020 so employers are keen to engage young people entering management for the first time to take up Apprenticeships and develop wider skills to assist in building managers for the future.
Foundation Degree
Successful business today depends on the effectiveness of its leaders and managers.
We are working with employers to offer trainee management development opportunities and embed via training, structures within organisations, to encourage young managers to undertake apprenticeships to guarantee business success. An Apprenticeship is a fantastic way to develop a career in management. If you have already completed two years post-compulsory education and have attained a good standard of general education, you may be able to start straight onto an Advanced Apprenticeship which can offer direct progression to a professional qualification (ILM, CMI, MBA). Alternatively you can start as an apprentice and use this as the stepping stone to an Advanced Apprenticeship or above. Professional and Higher Apprenticeships provide you with the opportunity to gain a higher level qualification, for example a Foundation degree, through the combination of higher education / professional qualifications within an Apprenticeship.
The Foundation degree in Business Management has been tailored to reflect the needs of the local and national economy to provide a vocationally relevant Higher Education programme to help meet the need to bridge the skills gap in the sector. There is a strong emphasis on experiential learning as you will be required to develop an understanding of theoretical models through the context of your employment. You will study a range of subjects including management & leadership personal development, external business environment, managing people, managing change, business law, research methods and organisational behaviour. Assessment for the different modules is through a combination of assignments, reports, coursework, case studies, presentations, in-class assessments, group work, a reflective log and a work-based project. The degree is awarded by the University of Bolton and on successful completion, you have the opportunity to progress on to an Honours Degree.

About your training
Professional Apprenticeship in Management
If you would like a pathway into Higher Education, the Professional Apprenticeship is the perfect option for you. It combines workplace learning and studying at Foundation degree level. It is for you if you would like to achieve a Higher Education level qualification and develop academic skills at the same time as proving your competence at work. You are likely to be working in a management role or can be an aspiring manager, managing, for example, projects or co-ordinating the activities of others to meet business objectives. You will learn how to understand consumer behaviour, manage operations, manage and lead people, develop people in work, manage resources, manage information, understand laws relating to management, self-manage performance and undertake independent research into management operations within your workplace. There is a final year project which is based around an improvement you choose to make in your workplace, using the skills and techniques learned in the modules covered. The Apprenticeship programme includes the NVQ Certificate in Management at Level 3, the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills, along with Key Skills/ Functional Skills in communication, number and ICT and a part-time Foundation degree (Fd) in Business Management, accredited through the University of Bolton. On successful completion of the Foundation degree you have the opportunity to enrol on the BA (Hons) Degree in Business and Management.
and management skills; for example, the unit ‘Leading innovation and change’, explores the skills necessary to identify and implement organisational innovation and improvement. The largest unit of the qualification, ‘Improving own leadership performance through action learning’, uses the technique of action learning to increase personal leadership capabilities. The Higher Apprenticeship includes three key components - an NVQ Diploma Level 5 in Management (a competence-based qualification assessed in the workplace), an ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management level 5 and finally, Key Skills/ Functional Skills in communication, number and ICT.
Higher Apprenticeship in Management
At this level, you are likely to be working in a middle management role, such as a section manager, department head or section director. You will be a practising manager have strategic responsibility for a substantial work area. It is for you if you have a wide span of control and accountability for performance, in particular with responsibility for determining resource allocation and operational methods in you department or organisation. Advanced Apprenticeship in Management
At advanced level you are likely to be working as a supervisory manager with responsibility for the work output of teams. While this includes roles such as senior charge hand and office manager, the qualification is not solely aimed at a discrete level of organisational hierarchy, and is appropriate if you manage ‘sideways’ or ‘upwards’ in the context of a project group, as if you control activities and have regular charge over a fixed team. The advanced programme aims to develop skills in a variety of areas including business planning, time management, how to motivate and manage people, including dealing with conflict, the principles of delegation and effective leadership styles. You will also learn how to objectively analyse business problems and identify recommendations to improve activities via a work-based improvement project. The Advanced Apprenticeship includes three key components - an NVQ Certificate Level in Management (a competence-based qualification assessed in the workplace), an ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership & Management (a knowledge-based qualification delivered off the job in workshop sessions), and finally, Key Skills/Functional Skills in communication, number and ICT.
Advanced Apprenticeship in Facilities Management
At advanced level you are likely to be working as a supervisory manager with responsibility for the work output of teams, although if you are an aspiring facilities manager with responsibility for planning, organising and monitoring work, ensuring a healthy, safe and productive working environment and working with colleagues / customers, this is the perfect training option for your management development. It is for you if you co-ordinate or manage facilities such as buildings, fabric, services, fleet, landscaping, refuse, cleaning services, mailroom, reception, and/ or security for an organisation. You will learn the fundamentals of management, evaluate your personal skills and use techniques to improve work practices. You will also gain an understanding of the principles of effective project management to increase productivity and make efficiencies within the business. You will also learn how to objectively analyse business problems and identify recommendations to improve activities via a work-based improvement project. The training also shows
you how to work effectively with your customers and colleagues, building relations to make sure facilities projects and maintenance run smoothly. This programme includes the NVQ Level 3 in Facilities Management, the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Facilities Management along with Key Skills/Functional Skills in communication, number and ICT.
Apprenticeship in Team Leading
As an apprentice in team leading you are likely to be in a role where you set objectives or plan and allocate work to others – examples include job roles such as shift leader, section leader, team leader, foreman, sister, project co-ordinator or team champion. It is suitable if you are new to the role of team leader or if you are looking to develop your management career. You do not have to have direct line-management for others but if you have responsibility for the day to day leadership of a team, such as shift leader in a call centre or customer service environment, then the apprenticeship is a perfect training option for you. It is equally suitable if you are aspiring to, or entering management for the first time, or if you have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable ‘management’ skills, for example, organising and communicating information, working with others, or strong leadership. You will learn the fundamentals of management practice, evaluate your personal skills and use techniques to improve communication of information. You will also gain an understanding of the principles of effective leadership and create an action plan to improve your own personal performance. Elements of your training will cover managing personal development and developing working relationships with colleagues. The apprenticeship programme includes the NVQ Certificate in Team Leading at Level 2, the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading along with Key Skills/ Functional Skills in communication, number and ICT (Information Communications Technology).
