One of the world’s premier music conservatories, Manhattan School of Music is dedicated to the personal, artistic, and intellectual development of aspiring musicians, from precollege through postgraduate studies. We prepare students for careers as accomplished and passionate performers, composers, and teachers and as leaders in the arts and society. Founded in 1918, today MSM is recognized for its more than 960 highly talented undergraduate and graduate students who come from over 50 countries and nearly all 50 states, a world-renowned artist-teacher faculty, and innovative curricula. Our alumni are soloists on the stages of the great concert halls and opera houses of the world, play in major orchestras internationally, lead important music organizations, and are faculty members training the next generation of artists. The Virtuoso Society 2018-19 Schedule of Special Events 2018 September Friday, September 28th at 7:30 PM Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony & Post-Concert Reception Celebrate the opening of MSM’s Centennial Season with two VIP tickets to a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony by the MSM Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Chorus at Riverside Church led by conductor Roderick Cox, the Minnesota Orchestra’s Associate Conductor, and featuring MSM faculty member and Metropolitan Opera star James Morris. Join us for a post-concert reception with the conductor and soloists hosted by President James Gandre, in the Peter Jay Sharp President’s Residence.
October Monday, October 29th at 7:30 PM Piano Concert & Reception Celebrating the Reopening of Solomon Mikowsky Recital Hall Enjoy performances by Kirill Gerstein, Simone Dinnerstein, Yuan Sheng, and other acclaimed pianists who studied with faculty member Solomon Mikowsky in the newly expanded Solomon Mikowsky Recital Hall. A festive reception with the artists follows in the Peter Jay Sharp President’s Residence.
November Saturday, November 17th at 6 PM Concert & VIP Reception Celebrating the Grand Reopening of Neidorff-Karpati Hall Join us for a champagne toast and special concert to celebrate the grand reopening of Neidorff-Karpati Hall, an art deco gem, which has been beautifully renovated. The concert features performances by Tony Award winning alumnus Shuler Hensley and Van Cliburn Competition winner and faculty member Olga Kern, among other luminaries.

Featured performers include Metropolitan Opera star and MSM alumna Susan Graham, violinists Glenn Dicterow and Kelly Hall-Tompkins, Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard, as well as distinguished MSM alumni and student performers.
May Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30 PM President’s Annual Virtuoso Society Reception Join President James Gandre for the first annual reception to acknowledge members of the Virtuoso Society on the terrace of the Peter Jay Sharp President’s Residence featuring spectacular views of the cityscape. An architectural historian will give insight into the landmarks of upper Manhattan. Reservations for some events are limited.
