Many of these works were recently presented in the exhibition, Feels Like Freedom: Phillip J. Hampton, at the Telfair Museums Jepson Center, Savannah, GA (October 7, 2022-January 29, 2023) in Hampton’s first large-scale museum retrospective. Earlier works by Phillip Hampton were also shown at Savannah State University’s Kennedy Fine Arts Gallery. Hampton joined Savannah State College (Savannah State University) in 1952 and was instrumental in developing the university’s Department of Fine Arts, Humanities and Wellness. Both shows were produced in partnership with Black Art Auction. These works will be noted with an asterisk.
