LETTER FROM THE COORDINATOR Dear Community Member, From May 26th to May 28th 2017, the McMaster Students Union will be hosting the annual Creating Leadership Amongst Youth (CLAY) Conference. The CLAY Conference is a 3-day, 2-night leadership conference for high-school students who wish to develop their leadership skills, challenge themselves and cultivate lasting friendships. The CLAY Conference provides students with the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge in an open, innovative and interactive session-based environment. Delegates are led through a variety of session-based activities that encourage self-exploration of topics such as: trust and risk, leadership and communication, empowerment and self/social awareness. These sessions are facilitated by McMaster student leaders who help to foster personal growth within delegates, while forming powerful mentorship bonds. This conference represents McMaster University’s commitment to youth within our community. As an organization committed to strengthening the community in which we live, we hope to provide an experience that all are able and welcome to enjoy. The CLAY Conference is shaped by its attendees – by their energy, their perspective, and their experiences. With your help, we can provide opportunities for delegates to attend CLAY who would otherwise not be able to due to financial constraints. The CLAY Conference would not be possible without the support of individuals and organizations within our community. It is through your support and dedication that an opportunity such as CLAY is possible for many of our delegates. With your help and support we are able to foster success, leadership, and excellence within the leaders of tomorrow within our community. WHY CLAY IS IMPORTANT CLAY was founded 1992 by the McMaster Students Union as an opportunity to create strong relationships between McMaster undergraduate students and the surrounding community. McMaster is one of the most diverse student bodies in Canada, and is dedicated to providing a well-rounded education. The university aims to offer students the opportunity to support the Hamilton community, and in turn learn from their knowledge and prior experiences. CLAY provides McMaster and high school students an environment conducive for collaboration. Both McMaster undergraduate students and conference delegates will be able to learn from each other, and participate in a diverse range in interactive sessions throughout the conference. These sessions aim to strengthen the confidence and leadership skills of both delegates and McMaster students, helping to create thoughtful and well-rounded leader within our community. Ontario is home to many high school students with a small portion having the chance to attend CLAY each year. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, some families are unable to send students to the conference. Our team is determined to overcome this challenge, and this year we are looking to welcome more students to the conference who otherwise would not have this chance. We believe that student success should be not be limited by financial status and, and thus we look forward to working with your business or corporation to help youth access the incredible opportunities they deserve.

SPONSORSHIP OPTIONS As a sponsor, you have the option of a monetary donation that would be allotted to different aspects of the conference or you can personally allot your monetary donation to a specific conference portion of your choice. The following list shows the different costs associated with the conference, and how your financial investment will directly benefit the delegates.

SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS The conference is comprised of 9 core sessions and workshops that contribute to the development of delegate participants and their leadership skills. As a Sessions Sponsor, you would contribute to the development of these sessions and the purchasing of some of the essential components for making these sessions possible. These sessions help to build skills in areas including trust and risk, social consciousness, leadership, time management and empowerment. Sponsorship Per Session: $250

EVENTS Apart from sessions and workshops, delegates participate in activities that enhance the conference atmosphere. These events help promote networking skills and contribute to the overall delegate experience. Sponsorship is available to offset a portion of the costs for the following items. If you sponsor a session or event, we will honour your donation by explicitly mentioning it both prior to and during the event as well as acknowledging your contribution in the delegate manual.

BY SPONSORING A DELEGATE... you are making the conference accessible to a wide variety of students who would not have otherwise had the chance. For many students who may wish to participate in the conference, a $165 price tag is too large of a cost to undertake.
