KEY POINTS & UPDATES FROM SRA MEETINGS

MCMASTER SOLAR CAR The McMaster Solar Car team presented to the SRA to discuss their 2016-2017 year goals, including: recruitment strategies, projects, competition schedule. All MSU members pay a $1.11 fee to the McMaster Solar Car. The SRA agreed that Solar Car has shown improvement in recruitment diversity, but more financial transparency is still required for the organization. MCMASTER MARCHING BAND The McMaster Marching Band (MMB) presented to the SRA to discuss their 2016-2017 year goals, including upcoming performances and increasing recruitment. All MSU members pay a $0.93 fee to MMB. The SRA agreed that MMB was doing well, and that a permanent on-campus rehearsal space should be prioritized moving forward. POLICY PAPERS The SRA approved final edits to the three policy papers: International Student Policy Paper, Ancillary Fee Policy Paper, and Sexual Violence and Gender Policy Paper. These policies will serve as a framework for the MSU’s advocacy efforts. For drafts of the policies, visit msumcmaster.ca/policycon and the final policies can be viewed at msumcmaster.ca/policy.

ATHLETICS AND RECREATION PROPOSAL At the previous SRA Meeting, 16I, The MSU President and Vice President Finance presented a proposal to expand student space on the McMaster Campus. This would include an expansion of the Pulse in addition to 40,000 square feet in student space designed by students for students. The SRA voted to send this proposal and its associated student fee increase to referendum in January. For more information, visit msumcmaster.ca/expansion.

GOVERNANCE AD-HOC COMMITTEE At the previous SRA meeting, 16I, an Ad-Hoc Committee was struck to investigate the various forms of governance reform that could exist in the MSU. •• Congratulations to Alex Wilson for being elected chair of the committee. •• Congratulations to Steven Cho, Jennifer Wang, Urszula Sitarz for being elected to the committee as MSU voting members. •• Congratulations to Jason Dales, Hannah Martin, Jackie Phung, and Eklavya Sehrawat for being elected to the committee as SRA voting members. FINANCE COMMISSIONER Congratulations to Yelena Banjavcic for being elected as Finance Commissioner.

TUITION TASK FORCE Congratulations to Urszula Sitarz for elected as a MSU voting member to the Tuition Task Force.

NEXT MEETING The next SRA meeting will take place on November 27th at 5PM in Council Chambers (Gilmour Hall Rm 111). Meetings are open to everyone.
