Your summer doesn’t have to be a bummer Top seven tips to make your summer break the best yet. REPORTER ARCHIVE It’s hard to believe that only 82 days of summer remain before the 2015-2016 academic year begins. With such a generous amount of time before resuming school, choosing what to do with your time may seem daunting. The last thing you want to say when your friends reunite at term is that your summer was ‘alright’ or ‘boring.’ If you seem to be in a summer-activity fun, not quite sure how to solve it, here are seven summer bore-busters that will give your time off a little more excitement. 1. Find a new go-to spot Humans are creature of habit. If you’re like me, you may have one or two places you eat at or go with friends to chill. While I wholeheartedly agree that having a good restaurant in your back pocket is a must, it can be worth the venture away to find a new spot. Who knows; the new spot may become your usual. 2. Read a good book Reading during the summer can initially make some people twinge because of the academic ties often associated with it. However, reading for pleasure can be very rewarding and relaxing.

I personally find reading to be a wholly different form of entertainment, especially during the summer. I often catch myself dreaming for the time when I can read my book for a good hour or so. If you prefer reading series instead of books, ask friends (or the Internet) what is hot right now. Also feel free to read Harry Potter again for the

Finding a new hobby or pursuing an interest can be a fun summer task. Have you been wanting to take a yoga class, explore your painting skills, or lean a few magic tricks? Do so! You may be surprised at the joy you may find in learning something fun and new.
4. Schedule weekly out-
was what they wanted it to be, complaining it was all work, work, and more work. To avoid this, plan a perfect summer day or weekend out and at on it. Make sure you take the time to plan it carefully, figuring out costs and booking reservations if necessary. Having that weekend can bring many summer memories for the future, and if spending your earned money is bothersome, just remember that some things are worth the splurge. If you are responsible and sensible, the money lost during your perfect day will be well spent. 6. Write a letter (or more!) Being away from college friends can be a bit of a bummer during the summer months. To stay in touch, write your buddy a letter. Writing letters may seems way outdated and time con-

That being said, don’t squander it; take all of the time you can to be outdoors. A good way to do that is by scheduling outdoor activities with friends or family. If it is possible, join a summer league for your activity of choice. If that isn’t your cup of tea, hosting a weekly get together with friends around a campfire may be just as satisfying. 5. Save up for a perfect weekend It seems all too common that college students do not feel as though their summer

Stay away from technology This last tip tops them all: stay away from technology. It seems like more and more these days, students are plugged in 24/7. Take time during the summer to get away from your laptop. Feel free to turn put your phone on silent. Taking a generous step away from the technology of today can help your busy, buzzing head to calm and relax, and isn’t that what summer is really all about?
