name tag patch collection. The event functioned in a first come, first serve queuebased format. As time went by, student

went to recruiting officer of their choice, to ask questions, review the necessary requirement, apply, submit resume or other important docu-

ments and so on. What was most noticeable in the event was the amount of people in the room, the event had 130 student

pre-registered students and about 90 companies in attendance. This crowded room made it difficult to walk around at times and it left some student feeling unengaged at the front of the hall. At first look, it was disheartening seeing some student standing without engaging with anybody like freshmen students at a middle school dance. MSU celebrates National Coming Out Day MARIA LY STAFF WRITER

Minnesota State University, Mankato’s LGBT Center celebrated the nation’s 31st National Coming Out Day as a way to create a safe space for students during a difficult political climate Oct. 11. National Coming Out Day was first observed 31 years ago on the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. It was celebrated as a reminder to the LGBTQ community about the power of coming out. The Human Rights campaign wants everyone to know, coming out still matters. On their site they state, “When people know someone who is LGBTQ, they are far more likely to support equality under the law. Beyond that, our stories can be powerful to each other.”
