Weggy’s Breakfast Proves to be a Student Favorite By ASHLEY OPINA Staff Writer
Located right across the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato in the University Square sits a popular bar and grill known as Weggy’s. The restaurant is open Monday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. so its doors are open to the early risers and the night owls every day of the week. They also accept pickup orders online and over the phone for those that would prefer to eat at home. Weggy’s serves everything a college student could hope for, from burgers and beers, to their famous breakfast meals, Weggy’s is a one-stop restaurant meant to satisfy all cravings. The restaurant offers menus for breakfast, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, malts and shakes, and even a kids menu for the little ones. Each menu has a wide array of food options listed at reasonable, budget friendly prices for exceptional food and friendly service. Weggy’s is best known and well-loved for their breakfast menu which offers omelets, french toast, buttermilk pancakes, waffles, eggs with benedict, and sides. They also offer their breakfast classics such as The Stomper Breakfast Sandwich, Breakfast Tacos, and The Tater Skillet. According to a worker, one of their more popular breakfast items is The Brunkie, which consists of two fresh baked biscuits, two sausage patties, two eggs of choice, all on top of a mound of hash browns covered in sausage peppered gravy. Weggy’s offers weekly specials too such as $5 Weggy Burger’s on Monday’s and any pound burger for $6 after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday’s which is popular among their guests. The restaurant is also able to host private events. Both the loft area fit for 25-30 people and the back room fit for 50 people can be booked through their website. Weggy’s is also available for catering and their services can be booked through their website as well. With their diverse food op-
tions, the services they offer, and their convenient location to campus, it comes to no surprise that MNSU students remain loyal customers. Ellie Lenarz, a senior at MNSU, is among the many. When asked if she had a moment to talk about Weggy’s, she jumped on the opportunity to express her love for the restaurant. Lenarz has been eating at Weggy’s for the same amount of time that she has been a student at MNSU. “I originally found out about them from a roommate that’s from the Mankato area,” said Lenarz. After being introduced to Weggy’s her freshman year, Lenarz has been going ever since. When she goes in for breakfast, Lenarz finds herself ordering Weggy’s breakfast tacos, her proclaimed favorite breakfast item. When she goes in for lunch, her favorite item to order is Weggy’s fajita wrap. Lenarz not only enjoys the menu items, but the atmosphere of the restaurant as well. When asked if she would recommend Weggy’s to a friend, her response was an immediate yes. “It’s a fun place to be in,” began Lenarz. “Their food is also reasonably priced and they have a variety to choose from.” Lenarz’s boyfriend, 23 year old Levi Selness, agreed with her positive review and added on to his girlfriend’s remarks. Selness has been eating at Weggy’s for three years and began after learning about them from his roommates upon moving to Mankato. He enjoys ordering Weggy’s sweet corn nuggets whenever he goes in. “There isn’t anywhere like it,” said Selness when he expressed his fondness for the restaurant. “It’s a unique representation of Mankato as a whole.” Other MNSU students discovered Weggy’s by chance and felt lucky that they did. One in particular is senior Priscilla Pomeroy who just recently became a customer of the restaurant. She noticed that DoorDash, a food delivery service, was offering a deal on Weggy’s. Pomeroy took advantage of

the deal and gave their food a shot. She was pleasantly surprised when she enjoyed every bite. “I especially love their cheese curds,” said Pomeroy. She also appreciates that Weggy’s has reasonable prices
fit for a college students’ budget. GG Broman, a sophomore at MNSU, loves Weggy’s for the same reason. “College students struggle with money so it’s nice that Weggy’s is cheap,” said Bro-
mann. “It’s better than getting McDonalds all the time.” Bromann first noticed Weggy’s while driving around

Coffee Hag Creates a Warm, Accepting Environment By SYDNEY BERGGREN Staff Writer Founded in 1992, The Coffee Hag has made a lasting impact on the Mankato community. Known for their specialty drinks, delicious baked goods and vegetarian-friendly foods, the shop has gained the reputation with Minnesota State University, Mankato students of being a calm, welcoming spot. The current owner, Jenn Melby-Kelley, is a Mankato native, an MNSU alumni, and one of the area’s more prominent LGBTQ+ business owners. She is also a local advocate for arts, music, and positive social change. The shop boasts many favorite drinks among MNSU students. Cult classics seem to be the sweeter stuff, namely the Turtle Mocha and White Mocha. In these recent winter months, however, the Pepper-
mint Mocha has gained popularity, as it features Andes Mints in its recipe. The shop has also recently received some lavender, which has been a popular addition to their white mocha drinks. The Mayan Sun is one of their more unique popular drinks, as it features a dash or two of Cayenne Pepper. “I love that they have so many options. Also, as someone with dietary restrictions, I appreciate how accommodating they are. I am able to try something new every time they go there, even with said restrictions,” noted MNSU student Matthew Trenne. Recently, the shop has had to make some COVID-19 accommodations to keep their staff and customers safe. They have installed a small walkup window that customers can approach to make their orders (often with a portable heater underneath it for cus-
tomer comfort) and, when the drink is made, the barista will walk it out to you, either on the sidewalk or in your car. Customers can also call in or order online. Before the world of COVID-19, however, the shop would often sport live entertainment and, if not, a curated playlist of upcoming, unique artists that was often enjoyed by patrons. They also have a lauded all-gender bathroom, and LGBTQ+ pride flags adorning the shop. One of the shop’s main draws tends to be that it is LGBTQ owned and operated, and that they are very open and welcoming to anyone and everyone. “I just love the vibe of the whole place. It feels so accepting and the employees are always very kind and understanding. Going there is often the best part of my day,” Trenne stated.
SYDNEY BERGGREN • The Reporter
The Coffee Hag is a community hub. Almost always bustling with activity -even when the doors are closed to non-employees- the shop’s inviting atmosphere and friendly
and accommodating staff create a place that is truly a delight to visit.

Buffalo Wild Wings is the Students’ Choice for Wings By MAXWELL MAYLEBEN Editor in Chief Buffalo Wild Wings, a restaurant full of televisions, beer, and most of all, wings. Known for their vast array of sauces from Sweet Barbeque, all the way to Blazin’, the restaurant gives options for anybody’s taste of wings. While people often disagree on their preferred sauce, there is another debate that is constantly disagree on, and that between boneless or bone in wings. Boneless lovers revel in the ease of eating, while bonein eaters swear that the meat tastes better off the bone. Each type of wing has their own day of the week at the restaurant,
offering buy one get one free. Wing Tuesdays is dedicated to the traditional wing, while Boneless Thursday for the deboned counterpart. The walls of the sports bar are loaded with signed local sports jerseys and flat screen TVs. Buffalo Wild Wings is extremely popular for students to patron during all sorts of sports games. Whether it is the Mavericks or the Vikings, students flock to watch the game on the giant circular television display in the middle of the restaurant. “I used to only go to B-Dubs for birthdays and special events, but in high school, when they started boneless Tuesdays, it became a weekly
affair”, said MNSU student, and Buffalo Wild Wings regular Reece Peterson, about his time spent at the restaurant. “Also, the ranch there is top notch”. Despite the long distance from the campus, being located off Victory Drive near Home Depot, students still make the journey to get their favorite wings from their favorite restaurant. Whether you are there for the game or the wings, Buffalo Wild Wings is a great place to sit back, escape, and enjoy the company of your friends. That time is, of course, enhanced by the top notch ranch and the delicious wings.

Although patrons can still order for curbside and in-store pick up, perhaps one of Pagliai’s best kept-secret is the indoor dining space. Being one of the oldest restaurants in the Key City, Pagliai’s interior gives off a late 60s pizza parlor vibe that has made it into a “local hangout,” according to Rueda. Featuring traditional seating booths that are adorned in seasoned, yet very inviting brown leather seats, an assortment of vintage posters printed onto hanging wooden blocks adorn the walls of the pizzeria. Mankato has a reputation for its wide variety of options in the nightlife and food industry, but when it comes to pizzas, Mankato’s oldest pizzeria is also its best one. Pagliai’s was established in 1969, and is situated in the heart of Mankato’s downtown district. And while many businesses in the Mankato area rely on college students to stay busy, Pagliai’s has been drawing a varying crowd of customers since over 50 years. Cheryl Rueda, the manager at Pagliai’s, spoke to the diversity of their customers. “We have a pretty good mix from the community and the students,” says Rueda. And Rueda says it’s their “product” that keeps the customers coming back to Pagliai’s. “We only use the best
cheese and the best fresh ingredients,” says Rueda. “We’re consistent, and it’s been around 1969.” A quick look at their menu will yield a trove of different delicacies. One of the more well-known items on the menu is the four-meat “Maverick” pizza consisting of sausage, beef, Canadian bacon and pepperoni. On the other side of the aisle is the “Four Cheese” pizza that entices patrons with its cheesy combination of Parmesan, mozzarella, provolone and cheddar cheese. And it isn’t just pizzas that Pagliai’s is known for. A variety of different pastas and sandwiches are also available on the menu. But within that group of sides also lies a remarkable product. “The cheese bread is a fan favorite for sure!” Says Rueda. Despite the on-going pandemic, Rueda says the pizza shop has been doing very well

Jersey Mike’s is the Go-to Sub Shop in Mankato By SYDNEY BERGGREN Staff Writer Sandwich shops are an easy choice for college students looking to snag a meal. The food is portable, often affordable, and provides options for almost everyone. Located at both Riverfront Drive and Adam’s Street, the Jersey Mike’s in Mankato are both in populated areas that are easy for students to access on days they spend out and about town. “I just appreciate how easy it is to go there,” stated MNSU freshman Faith Peterson. “When I am going shopping with a group of friends and we’re trying to think of somewhere to go for lunch, Jersey Mike’s usually comes to mind. They’re so close by and there is usually an option for everyone.” The Adam’s Street locale is particularly a popular spot with MNSU students; it boasts a prime spot near the River Hills Mall, and often has a full parking lot at peak lunch and dinner time. Jersey Mike’s operates as a ‘build-it-yourself” style.. The meats and cheeses are sliced in front of you, and the bread
is baked in-store. When possible, the shops also attempt to obtain all of their produce locally, and prep all of it day-of. Freshness is their motif –they hope to provide the best quality sandwiches at reasonable prices. “Their stuff is always delicious. They are my go-to sub shop in town,” said Peterson. Their popular sandwiches tend to depend on the season; Right now, it’s the cheese steaks, as with the cold weather customers are tending to want warm sandwiches with melty cheese. In warmer months, it is often the club sandwiches and Italians, for a more refreshing and classic sandwich meal. Many customers also appreciate how accommodating they are. MNSU student Tyler Saltzman mentioned that she “tend[s] to have a particular order, and whenever I go the person making it is always super understanding and will make the changes I ask for.” Due to the COVID-19 precautions that the owner has taken, the shops currently provide very limited seating; there are 2-3 booths available in the stores. Otherwise, customers are welcome to order

India Palace serves up Delicious Cultural Delicacies By DANIEL MCELROY Sports Editor The owners of India Palace opened their first restaurant in 2003, India Palace located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. When they decided it was time to expand, they chose Mankato as their new home. India Palace location in Mankato, located at 1511 Madison Avenue, has been there since 2014 and will be turning seven this year. Although only open for carryout and curbside pick up at the moment, I had the chance to take a walk inside, and see for myself how calm and relaxing the nature of the restaurant is. Among it’s massive menu of over 130 Indian dishes, India Palace is most famous for it’s Chicken Tikka Masala, cooked with sliced onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers with a touch of cream. As for appetizers, you might start out with a Boti Kabab, which is lamb cubes marinated in a yogurt sauce and baked in a clay oven for the best flavor, or the India Palace Mix Platter, which includes vegetable samosas, vegetable kebabs, vegetable pakoras, and chick-
en pakora. India Palace also has a great selection of naan bread to choose from with butter naan, to garlic naan, to onion stuffed naan, and so much more! After your meal, you can finish off with one of the amazing desserts they have available for you. At the top of the menu, you have kheer a famous Indian rice pudding graced with pistachios, or gulab jamun, which is deep fried milk balls in a rose syrup. If you’d rather stick to the basics, you can go with the classic homemade vanilla ice cream, or even spice that up a bit with pistachio ice cream or mango ice cream. India Palace also has a wide variety of refreshments with over 48 beers, wine, and soft drinks to choose from! They even have many different kinds of lassi, a blend of yogurt, spices, water, and fruits. India Palace sees a lot of students ordering from the restaurant with about 35% of customers being MSU students! India Palace offers a great student discount of 15% off orders with a student ID. Tokyo Sushi & Hibachi offers a Great Variety By SYDNEY BERGGREN Staff Writer Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi opened in 2011 and has become rather popular with students both on and off campus. Their most popular cuisine with Minnesota State University, Mankato students is definitely their sushi rolls, as they are always half off. The volcano roll is one of their more popular options, along with the Red Dragon roll, the Avocado roll, and of course the Mankato roll. “My favorite is the yummy roll with miso soup. The volcano roll is also really good,” says MNSU freshman Zoe Blumer. Some of their other popular fresh dishes include Hibachi Steak, Teriyaki Chicken, a variety of Bento Boxes, and Seafood Teriyaki. Their miso soup comes with many of their meals, and tends to be greatly enjoyed. “I’ve ordered sushi from them like 4 or 5 times already this semester. I can’t get enough!” Mentioned Blumer. While customers are usually able to enter the small store and experience its ambiance, the restaurant has
enacted some quite extensive COVID-19 precautions to keep all of their staff and customers safe. The restaurant is not allowing in-person dining at the moment. Instead, they have installed a small walk-up window in the front of the store with menus attached to the surface of a table for customers to order in person. Customers can also order on the restaurant’s website or by calling in their order ahead of time. Like many other restaurants, the customers must simply state the name on the order when they come to pick up and their food will be slid out to them, contactless. The restaurant prides themselves in being a favorite and easy choice of Mankato students. They understand the limitations of being a college student, and are therefore often lauded for their speed of service and affordable prices. Many students also enjoy that their food is easy to transport and eat when they are in a hurry. Mankato’s best Mexican Cuisine is at Mazatlan By MAXWELL MAYLEBEN Editor in Chief “I go to Maz as much as my wife wants a good margarita.” These are the words of Ben Cline, a senior at MNSU, Mankato, and newly married to Bethany Luther student Julia Cline. The two frequent El Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant for their delicious margaritas as well as their mouth watering Mexican cuisine. Mazatlan, located just off of Madison Avenue, is decorated inside and out to look and feel just like you are in an authentic Mexican restaurant. And it succeeds, because it doesn’t just feel authentic, it is authentic. Opened in 2003, the establishment has been dishing out burritos, tacos, and chimichangas for almost 20 years. One big draw to Maz is the unlimited free chips and salsa that every table gets almost immediately after sitting
down. Handmade every single day, there is nothing quite like the warm chips paired with the perfectly crafted salsa. Julia, however, lives by the guacamole found at the restaurant. “Usually I just get chips and guacamole,” said Julia, “Although if i’m really hungry, I will get a burrito… as long as it has guac.” Ben, however, is partial to the salsa. “I really like their salsa,” said Ben, “But I love how you can order a la carte off the menu. It is super customizable.” Whether you love your Mexican food with chicken, steak, seafood, or even without meat, Maz has you covered. Whether it is the vegetarian “Fajitas Vegetarinanas” made from sauteed onions, bell peppers and other veggies, or the filling “Burrito Cancun” smothered with cheese sauce and filled with shrimp and

chicken, you are sure to find something to fill your stomach. And you cannot talk about Mazatlan without making reference to their famous margaritas. While many places in town offer margaritas, none do it quite like Maz. With several sizes varying from the typical
margarita glass, all the way up to the “monster” size, which is about the size of a fish bowl. Of course, the food, the drinks are great, but the cherry on top is the wonderful authentic feeling, stemming from the beautiful decorations and carefully crafted woodworking all around the restaurant. The bright and vibrant colors
makes it feel like summer, even in the coldest Minnesota winter. “The atmosphere and the music paired with the authentic Mexican food makes it feel like you are actually in Mexico,” said Julia, “especially if you are more than halfway through a monster margarita.”

As a chain restaurant serving ten cities across Minnesota and Iowa, The Boulder Tap House is dedicated to bringing the best experience possible to all who dine in. The Mankato location sits on Saint Andrews Drive, an approximate ten minute drive from campus. If you’re not able to make the drive and dine in, there are other options available to ensure you get your fix of great food and drinks. The restaurant is currently offering delivery and take-out through DoorDash, Ubereats, GrubHub, and Food Dudes to help all of Mankato eat a great meal while staying COVID-19 safe. “Boulder Tap House is such a fun atmosphere with a high selection of taps at reasonable prices. They have also been respectful of social distanc-
ing, which is more than other places in Mankato. These are some of the reasons I keep coming back,” Hawe stated. Homemade cheese curds aren’t the only delicious food offered at this well-known restaurant. This tap house is also widely known for their array of burgers to fill all taste bud needs. For all who can’t get enough of the curds, there’s a burger for that. The Cheese Curd Burger included a fresh burger patty with Swiss cheese, Burger Co. sauce, and the monster cheese curds. Other popular specialty burgers include the Stuffed Tap House Burger, The Defibrillator Burger, and the Brown Sugar and Smoked Cheddar Burger. For the people who look to eat on the healthier side, you can substitute most burger patties with a chicken breast, turkey burger, or veggie burger for $1 extra. Pair with a side of your choice, and you’ve got a perfect meal. If burgers aren’t your thing there’s a wide assortment of specialty sandwiches to choose from. One classic and popular choice is the Pulled Pork Sandwich. This includes two grilled brioche buns loaded with pulled pork and topped with barbeque sauce, fried onions, fried jalapenños, and mayo. Other sandwiches listed ate the Chicken Avocado Sand-
wich, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and the Grilled Turkey and Bacon Melt, which all can be paired with your favorite side. For those who are in the mood for Mexican there, is an assortment of tacos to pick from. The Jamaican Jerk Carnitas consists of roasted carnitas pork marinated in Jamaican jerk sauce and seared. It is then topped with pineapple slaw, fresh pico, fresh cilantro and cilantro lime sour cream. Other taco meals on the menu include the Ribeye Steak Tacos, the Tequila Lime Chicken Tacos, and Nashville Hot Chicken Tacos. All taco platters are served with your choice of Southwest black beans and rice or chips and pico. To get you in the game-day mood, the legendary wings are a perfect choice. You can choose from bone-in or boneless wings in small, medium, or large, and then select from the list of sauces. Arranged in the order of hotness, the sauces are: Garlic Parmesan, Honey Barbeque, Jack Daniel’s Barbeque, Sweet and Spicy Asian, Sweet Chili Jerk, Blackened (not available for boneless), Buffalo, Nashville Hot, and Mango Habanero. To finish it up, you can select Buffalo Rub, Cool Ranch, or Sea Salt and Vine-

Blue Bricks Serves up Tasty Cocktails and Food By MAXWELL MAYLEBEN Editor in Chief Blue Bricks Bar and Eatery, located on 424 South Front Street in Mankato, has been serving local regulars as well as students for over twenty one years. Since opening in 1999, Blue Bricks has established itself as a staple in the downtown Mankato bar scene. Offering a classic and timeless bar atmosphere, as well as plenty of room to spread out, the bar is known for its great food as well as great sales. Kelly Neubauer, a student at Minnesota State University, Mankato works as a bartender and a server, along with 10-15 other students under employment at the bar. Neubauer notes that a huge portion of the customers that come through Blue Bricks tend to be students at MNSU, while there are many older regulars that usually come during the midday to afternoon. “Later in the night is when the college students come out,” said Neubauer. While things have changed slightly this year due to COVID-19 restrictions that have been implemented by the state, Blue Bricks remains consistent with their goal of providing a comfortable and fun atmosphere for their patrons. “The only thing that’s dif-
ferent is all of the restrictions put on the place,” said Neubauer in reference to the new procedures that all restaurants in Minnesota must follow. “It’s different in that way, but it’s stayed the same in others, We have our regulars and we always have new people.” Though with these new restrictions comes a more volatile work schedule. Before COVID-19 restrictions, Blue Bricks saw a large percentage of their busy days during the weekend, as college students were out looking to party. Because the bars must close at 10 p.m. every night, Neubauer notes that their busy nights are much more spread out. “Every single week is completely different,” said Neubauer, “Friday and Saturdays used to be our busy nights, and now, sometimes we get weekends that are busy, sometimes we have weekdays.” “I usually go Thursday through Saturday every weekend,” said Lilley Minock, a student at MNSU and regular at Blue Bricks. Minock, like many others, credit the comfortable and welcoming atmosphere as her reason for returning. “I like it because there is never a line, I know a couple people who work there,” said Minock, “and it feels a lot more safe than some of the
other places around town.” With high quality service and atmosphere, high prices are often soon to follow. Not at Blue Bricks. There are specials to get great food and drinks every single day of the week. Notably, on Friday and Saturday, there is a happy hour, offering great deals. “Happy hour is 3-7 which has 2 dollar domestic bottles, otherwise it would be a dollar off any other alcohol.” said Neubauer, “Sundays its 2 dollar tall Mich or Millers,” referring to Michelob Golden Light and Miller Light. During happy hour, you get 1 dollar off of any starter, including their famous wings. Be sure when you order, if you enjoy a little spice, to order the “Infamous Chubb’s Recipe” sauce. It is the perfect middle ground between the spice of buffalo sauce and the sweetness of barbeque. With great food, great drinks at a reasonable price, and great service, Blue Bricks has had no trouble staying open and popular since their opening in 1999. Neubauer credits the bar’s success to the focus on connecting with the patrons. “We have been open for 21 years and we love it, it’s a good atmosphere” said Neubauer, “it’s really about the relationships you make with people.”

Mankato, being a college town, is covered in a variety of liquor stores. One liquor store has been chosen by Minnesota State University Mankato students as their favorite, MGM Wine and Spirits. Locally and operated, MGM has several locations across Central Minnesota, with two locations here in Mankato. One being closer to campus at 201 Victory Drive, and the other located at 1755 Commerce Drive. Students consistently turn to MGM as their go to for all of their alcohol needs. Being one of the largest liquor stores in Mankato, are able to offer anything a student (of legal drinking age) could possibly want. Whether you are looking for a relaxing night in or a fun and socially distant get
together with friends, MGM will likely have what you are looking for. Starting with the wide selection of wine that varies from the sweetest moscato to the driest cabernet, if you are looking for a calm rest and relaxation, or a romantic dinner with a loved one, the perfect wine to pair with your evening is waiting for you in the walls of MGM. Or if it is a case of beer you are looking for, check the section near the coolers, where you can find stacks of cases so high, they come close to scratching the ceiling. From the blue mountains of a Coors Light to the crisp flavor of a “Busch Latte”, beer is in no short supply. Students often frequent MGM closer to the weekends, and even more so due to the pandemic. “People are realizing that it’s cheaper to buy your stuff

This convenient location right off Madison Avenue allows students to be in close proximity to the salon and receive a luxury experience without breaking the bank. Minnesota State University, Mankato senior Thomas Sanford is a frequent visitor of the salon in order to get a haircut. “The staff is always super polite and nice to me. My hairstylist always does a great job with my hair, and she’s the only one I go to. She knows my hair and the cut I want, so I trust her,” Sanford commented. “I’ll also get the middle part of my eyebrows waxed to keep them looking nice, and my stylist will do that for free, which I really appreciate,” Stanford continued. Store manager Tim Tupy is proud of the way him and his staff take care of their guests. Tupy explains this further, “Our team is always working in ways to better themselves,
and that’s what makes us special. Liv Aveda strives for continued education, so all of the stylists are required to continue taking classes since this is their career, not just a job. We really pride ourselves in this aspect, because we want to know how to best provide for our guests.” All staff members strive to give their guests a true salon experience, no matter what service they receive that day. “When I get my haircut I also get it shampooed and conditioned. They’ll also give me a steamed towel to help me feel relaxed, which is a nice touch,” Stanford stated. The salon is always thankful for the guests they serve, and to express this gratitude to the community they offer many different discounts and specials on the services they provide. “We try to give back in the ways we can. We’ll hold gift card contests with other businesses in Mankato and work with local fundraising events and non-profit teams,” Tupy explained. Treat Yourself to a Spa Day with Liv Aveda By JENNA PETERSON News Director While there are a wide selection of nail salons in Mankato, nobody does it like Liv Aveda does. With the salon being located in the River Place Plaza, approximately 10 minutes from campus, it gives Minnesota State University, Mankato students and other Mankato community members an accessible location to freshen up their nails. Unlike other salons, Liv Aveda doesn’t use acrylic or artificial nails on their clients. Store manager Tim Tupy explained, “Here at Liv Aveda we strive for embracing natural beauty. We want you to feel and look great when you leave.” Liv Aveda provides only the best and most luxurious services for their guests to help their skin feel smooth and soft. As stated on their website, the nail care for hands and feet includes an aromatic sensory journey, a gentle cleanse and exfoliation, maintenance of the nails and cuticles, followed with a smoothing massage. “I’ll come and get my nails
done here when I know I deserve to treat myself. I don’t like the feeling of acrylic nails, so Liv Aveda is perfect for what I want. They give me the spa-like treatment without breaking my bank,” Julia Bolssen, junior at MNSU stated. First listed is the spa manicure at $40 or spa pedicure for $55. These treatments are sure to leave your nails looking fresh and clean while also adding that pop of color you desire. On the more downscale of treatments includes polish change to the hands, priced at $20, polish change to the toes, priced at $25, addition of gel polish to hands at $15 and addition of gel polish to toes at $20. The staff at Liv Aveda ask that when you schedule a gel polish appointment to mention so at the time of booking. There is also a service available for $10 to get gel polish removed, and again you must tell the staff that it is a gel polish when booking the appointment. If you aren’t looking to get any polish work done but

Quarters Voted Best Option for Students, Again By JULIA BARTON Staff Writer
The Quarters, one of the many off campus housing choices, offers students at Minnesota State University, Mankato the best college living experience with their updated layouts and many amenities. The bus stops at The Quarters four times an hour and is only a six minute ride away from the MNSU campus. Some of the many perks you’ll receive while renting are cable, internet, trash disposal, parking permit, in-unit washer and dryer, plus access to all of their amenities. The 24-hour clubhouse has an outdoor pool and hot tub, workout center, free tanning beds, golf simulator, lounge area, game room, and study booths as well as a conference room are the included amenities at The Quarters.
“I chose to work here because when I was in college I always had fun memories here with my friends, I also love interior design and getting to know and talking to people,” Carli Coleman, leasing manager at The Quarters, stated. The Quarters community’s goal is to make sure their tenants have the best experience during their time at MNSU. “The rooms are good size and to have your own bathroom and shower right in your room is a big plus. The clubhouse is very nice and we can use it at any time and the staff is amazing. All of these things combined just made it an easy decision to live there,” Tyler Olson, sophomore at MNSU said. All students are welcome to apply for housing as many of them choose to stay at The Quarters for multiple years. “I have lived in The Quarters for three years. The best
memory I have from living here was when my friends and I went to the pool our first weekend here and everyone had a great time!” Gabi Osmanski, senior at MNSU stated. Location is another key aspect on why The Quarters is so popular among students. “Being right next to College Town is a huge plus. My favorite memory living here is going hot tubbing with my friends after a long day of work. It’s super easy and convenient to have that,” Mariam Alkaabi, sophomore at MNSU said. Students are advised to apply around the fall and winter season to guarantee housing for the following year, as these apartments do fill up quickly. “I recommend this apartment complex to any MNSU student looking for housing. I have loved living here for my senior year and it has been my best living situation

According to Bromann, “Their hash browns are amazing.” “Of course I would recommend Weggy’s to anyone,” began Bromann. “It’s a good place to get food, whether you’re dining in or out, for a really good price.”
