Hello Mystics! April’s here! Just a week left of classes, a few exams, and you’ll finally get your much deserved summer! Just want to take the time to congratulate everyone who ran in the elections last month, very impressive candidates. Congratulations as well for our incoming Executive: Tyler Bechard, Justin Corcoran, and your incoming President, Paul Whyte! There’s still lots going on this month, so mark your calendars! With exams coming up, we will be running our Wellness Week during the week of the 7th, which will feature FREE massages, yoga, Zumba, pancakes, and more! We’ll also be doing another contest through our Facebook page for another exam survival kit! We’ll also be having our Last Class Bash on Wednesday, April 9th, at Vinnie’s! Does your class, society, or program want to celebrate the end of the year together? If you have a big enough group interested in celebrating together at Vinnie’s during exam period, let us know now! We may just be able to re-open our doors! This will be the last message you receive from me so I want to say that it’s been extremely rewarding working for you all these past two years. I have confidence in Paul and the rest of the Executive team moving forward and will be watching closely to see the organization move even further next year. Until we meet again, Mystics. Zach Gallant

STUDENTS’ UNION UPDATES Celebrating Compassion at the Mount
On April 1st, the Mount Cares and Wellness Centre celebrated all our compassionate work we do here on campus. Essentially, it was a day to celebrate us, with food and presentations. The MSVUSU signed a proclamation and commitment to become the first compassionate organization in Atlantic Canada and the first compassionate Students’ Union in the world. We call upon all of us to gather our energies, hearts and spirits to help the Mount Student Union be a `Compassionate Student Union`. May the Mount campus become an even more welcoming, inclusive and caring space for all. www.msvu.ca/MountCare

CAMPUS UPDATES MSVU Art Gallery presents
Voices in Longitude and Latitude video installation by Marnina & Noam Gonick 22 March through 11 May 2014 Voices in Longitude and Latitude is a video installation about the aspirations of teen-aged girls in four communities— Inuit in Kugluktuk, Nunavut; trans-gender in Halifax; Jewish in Toronto; and Congolese, Rwandan, Ethiopian and Sudanese immigrants in Winnipeg. The girls, aged 13 to 23, appear in a 17-minute, four-screen projection. Shot (Marnina and Noam Gonick , Voices in Longitude and Latitude, fouron location, the video and audio components screen video installation 2014 - video stills courtesy of the artists) masterfully combine landscape and urban imagery with cinema verit-Ê-style footage and studio interviews with the girls. This exhibition represents the first collaboration between siblings Noam Gonick, the renowned Winnipeg filmmaker, and Dr. Marnina Gonick, Canada Research Chair in Gender at Mount Saint Vincent University. Their joint work provides insight into the question of how audio-visual media can open new possibilities, questions and ways of knowing in social research. CONVERSATION WITH THE GONICKS & OPENING RECEPTION Saturday, 22 March, 2 to 4pm Meet the artists and hear a discussion with curator Ingrid Jenkner. Reception to follow sponsored by MSVU Women's Studies.
