As well the wellness workshops are returning this year starting on October 7th. Keep an eye out for the topics to be included in these workshops. Please give us a like on Facebook at MSVUSU Wellness Centre!

Fountain Play Center Volunteers of the Month Amy had volunteered to help us open the FPC on the first day of classes. She has been a huge help with new programming activities and field trips for our FPC kiddos! Amy’s favourite thing about volunteering with the FPC is “getting the chance to interact with the kiddos as well as getting the opportunity to know my peers.”

Amy has been volunteering with the FPC since September 2014.

Alyssa has been doing great with all of our new kiddos, helping them to feel comfortable during a difficult transition. She is not afraid to reach out to a new child and seek out their interests and try new activities. Alyssa’s favourite thing about volunteering with the FPC is “how the environment is so welcoming.” She says, “everyone gets along so well and we all work very well together as a team!”

Alyssa is a new volunteer beginning this year, September 2015.

“We are continually exposed to the flashbulb of death”: The Photographs of Allen Ginsberg (1953-1996) 29 August 2015 through 8 November 2015 The exhibition comprises over 100 photographs taken by the legendary Beat poet and activist Allen Ginsberg, capturing his life, loves, and artistic community, including Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Neal Cassady, Peter Orlovsky and others of the Beat generation of writers, poets, and activists.

Sunday

In this talk, Katz places Ginsberg and General Idea in a long tradition of anti-gay queers, situating their seeming contradictions in the socio-political context of their times.
