Mastroberardino
Mastroberardino is one of Italy’s leading wineries and wine families. Its history dates to the early 18th century. As one of Italy’s top winemaking estates, it holds a proud place in Italy’s viticultural history as a guardian of native grapes of southern Italy’s Campania region. The family has not just worked to maintain them but has also successfully turned almost extinct grapes into world class varieties. Starting from the first half of the 18th century, the family established itself in the town of Atripalda in the mountains of the Southern Apennines, some 50 km inland from Naples. In 1878, Angelo Mastroberardino, great-grandfather of the current president, Piero Mastroberardino, started exporting the family wines first to Europe, and then, thanks to the pioneering journeys of his son Michele Mastroberardino, to North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Antonio Mastroberardino, Piero’s father, well known as “the archaeologist of vine and wine,” was the architect of the replanting program that paved the way for the relaunch of Irpinia viticulture after WWII. He also did great things for the once obscure Aglianico grape — Antonio’s efforts were credited with bringing it back from extinction and establishing Taurasi (made from 100 percent Aglianico) as a world class wine. Today Mastroberardino owns more than 260 hectares of vineyards on 17 wine estates located in Irpinia, in the southern Apennines, planted mainly to Aglianico, Fiano and Greco. www.ethicawines.com

Intense garnet red color. The bouquet is fresh, rich in fruity and floral fragrances, and strong hot spice hints. In the mouth, it is elegant and fresh, characterized by a balance between acidity and structure, and an intense red fruit finish.
Founded in 1997 by brothers Pico and Vitaliano, Pico Maccario is a family-owned winery boasting 112 hectares of vineyards between Monferrato and Langhe, primarily dedicated to the queen grape of Piemonte, Barbera. In 2016, the winery accomplished a remarkable expansion in the Langhe area, adding some CRU properties in the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations, especially in the villages of Neive, Barolo, and Serralunga.
Pico Maccario has always dedicated a large part of its resources to technological innovation and research in the vineyard. Their winemaking style aims to respect the true varietal character of Barbera, delivering wines with clean aromas, balanced and pleasant acidity, and versatility. These wines are enjoyable, rich, and satisfying.
Lavignone wine, the pride of Pico Maccario, is produced from a 54-hectare vineyard in one body, with vines averaging 22 years old, in the heart of the Barbera d’Asti DOCG. Its name comes from the local dialect, meaning ‘the big vineyard,’ and truly reflects the essence of its origin: the biggest Barbera d’Asti cru ever to exist.
Pico Maccario stands out as a pioneer in Barbera production, playing a pivotal role in promoting Barbera d’Asti and Nizza DOCG. Their forwardthinking attitude is shaping the future of Barbera in Italy and worldwide. www.ethicawines.com

Fortemasso
Driven by a desire to produce renowned wine belonging to great appellations in a uniquely beautiful landscape, in 2013 the Gussalli Beretta family purchased Fortemasso, in Castelletto, Monforte d’Alba: a 5 – hectare property planted to Nebbiolo for the production of Barolo DOCG wines, with an additional 8.6 hectares, meant for the production of Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC and Barbera d’Alba DOC. Leveraging the excellent quality of the land acquired, a new project was born, led by expert staff, in accordance with a very specific production philosophy: high emphasis on the vineyards and limited intervention in the winemaking process, in order to preserve each grape variety’s characteristic features. The building in which Fortemasso operates was renovated in a manner that maintains its traditional features, while creating an elegant and contemporary interior. An underground facility holds the cellar, with its winemaking and ageing rooms: the subterranean, environmentally sustainable cellar is ideal for preserving the rural landscape above ground, while its design centers around modern production processes. www.fortemasso.it

Château Fontenil
90% Merlot - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense crimson in colour, it has a complex aromatic palette comprising notes of mocha, chocolate, smoke, black fruit, blackberry and cherry. Compact and beautifully round on the palate with a well-balanced aftertaste.
100% Merlot. A great year for Merlot. The wines are a deep crimson colour with very pronounced aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla and blackcurrant jam. A real treat, but still developing. Average in concentration and well-balanced with an elegant tannic structure.
100% Merlot. Lovely deep colour with crimson highlights. Notes of black fruit, blackcurrant and blackberry mingle with vanilla undertones on the nose. Well-structured, fairly rich and round on the palate with good depth and silky, well-balanced tannins, culminating in a wonderful finish. Will only improve with age.
The renovation work on the installations lasted until 1999; the vinification cellars, the barrel cellar and the storage cellar were all equipped with high-performance material. Perfectly organized, tradition remains alongside new technologies: small stainless steel and wooden vats, double sorting table, barrel stock of which 60% are renewed each year and where malolactic fermentation is carried out – The same requirement in the vineyard: traditional cultural methods plowing or grassing, work under the row – yield control from pruning the vines until crop thinning – sustainable treatments, manual harvesting plot by plot using small crates.
The vines are on a slope with a southern exposure, looking down on the river Isle – a tributary of the Dordogne – and the town of Libourne. This magnificent setting frames an estate whose wines are among those which have enhanced the reputation of the Fronsac appellation. www.rollandcollection.com

Eola Hills
In the early 1980’s, Oregonian Tom Huggins found himself intrigued by the notion of creating great regional wines in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Tom’s dream was rooted in facts. Through his occupation as an agricultural insurance specialist in the 1970’s, he knew what to look for in potential vineyard sites. Tom convinced a handful of close friends and family members to invest with him in purchasing a 35 acre wheat field on Oak Grove Road, just a few miles west of Salem, on a site he felt was ideal for growing grapes.
These young Oregonians didn’t just bring their savings to the table. They prepared the site and planted the pinot noir and chardonnay vines themselves. They learned to stake and train vines, harvest, sort, and crush the grapes that became the winery’s first 1,500 cases in 1986. It was hard work, it was fun, and the wine was terrific.
Today, Eola Hills Wine Cellars is still locally owned and operated and is one of Oregon’s largest wineries, farming more than 325 acres of prime vineyard land. Production now surpasses 80,000 cases of fine wines that are enjoyed across the country and internationally. Our goal is to make wines that we feel capture the spirit and flavors of Oregon – we hope you enjoy them. www.eolahillswinery.com

Bluet
Michael Terrien, winemaker for Obsidian Wine Co. spent his childhood eating wild blueberries in Maine. As an adult, he and his family found it curious that they never saw wild blueberry wines in Maine. Nostalgia and innovation married and one, hot August day in 2014 Michael fermented a thousand pounds of wild blueberries in his Aunt and Uncle’s barn and Bluet was born! People liked it, so he sold the wine and made more the next year. Now he’s making a whole lot more with six local farming families as his grower-partners.
If you haven’t seen one, a blueberry field is extraordinary and ancient. This is the original blueberry, a stone age fruit that you don’t plant. It just grows on its own here in Maine the way it has for 10,000 years. Bluet is truly unique. Made with only a single amazing ingredient. A true product of terroir, this project supports the family farms in Maine and helps them sustain their unique way of life. Bluet, being all natural and full of antioxidants, does your body good while keeping it all very local. www.bluet.me
