ME I am Mehmet Taylan Tosun, Architect graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2020. I have always interested in architectural design principles and exploring, trying new things about them. Improving myself in every area in architecture and being a successful designer is my lifelong goal. My hand drawings are big parts of my design path during projects. Using my hand drawing inclination always motivates me. Thank you for taking a look.

THE CAPITAL, ANKARA Ankara represents a capital in Turkey dominated by the modernist architecture in an effort to move away from the old architectural tradition. The squares and transportation axes establish the integrity of the city, indicating that the city is completely designed.
PARADE Parades, one of the most important values of Turkey since Republican period, performed for reasons such as power show, memorial or joy. 19 May Stadium and Hippodrome Park also hosted these parades. Starting from TBMM, the transition route ended at the new stadium square that designed.

Hippodrome area was considered as an area that should be preserved with its historical meaning and value, not an area that should be filled. The region’s rated power combined with urban experience. Sports fields are designed in a compact way on AKM land. In this region, horse riding club, tribune structure, sports clubs, fairgrounds and wide recreation areas were found with the reference of hippodrome.

ISTANBUL & WATER Topography
Istanbul is a water city with 7 hills and 67 creeks. Depending on the design, firstly, where the streams and water resources are closed and open, as well as the intersections with transportation joints in the intensive urbanization were determined.

Green Spaces
Çırpıcı Stream, one of the most important rivers of Istanbul, Ayamama, Çinçin and Tavukçu, passes under the Esenler Bus Terminal (Project Area) and flows from the Northern Forests to the Marmara Sea underground with concrete tunnels like other streams.

URBAN SPRAWL
With the urbanization in the south in the development of Istanbul, it is seen that the green has dissapeared from south to north. In ancient times, all the water sources such as aqueducts, streams, fountains all over Istanbul, together with green, remain among the intense urbanization today and their values are erased and closed, and even cause dangers.
The Istanbul macroform has been subjected to distorted urbanization due to the densely populated population and the city is increasingly scattered to its periphery. This scattering shows its effect at every point of the city. It is covered with concrete regardless of what is under the ground, including vegetation and water basins. The closure of streams and water basins caused floods. Project Site

ESENLER WATER RESEARCH & VISITOR CENTER APPLYING WETLANDS STRATEGY in Istanbul Scale
RECREATION IN THE CITY
It was aimed to restore the green and wet topography to the Esenler Valley by opening the streams that were covered by concrete under the soil and closed.
Surroundings of the creek opened at the scale of Istanbul, urban arrangements and recreation areas, walking and sitting areas, and new layers such as bicycle paths, and structures close to the creek hazard were removed.
Started by locating the surrounding unstable areas as Altıntepsi and Davutpaşa that where built before the earthquake in 1999 that also in danger if a flood happen. Bike Road Sitting Area Walking Area
Wetland is proposed to filter the surface runoff from the urban area, at the same time it helps to collect rain water, surface runoff in controlled manner during heavy rainfall to prevent surrounding from flood. The biological process of natural wetlands able to removecontaminants from the waste water,.
Recreation CREEK
Recreation
it requires low energy, low cost and low mechanical technology, we can apply the same intervention at the scale of Istanbul by offsetting the main water basin borders and evaculate the inside areas as wetlands, by this strategy Istanbul’s water problem effiency can be solved..

ESENLER WATER RESEARCH & VISITOR CENTER TRANSFORMATION
SPINE STRATEGY
This mega structure located in Esenler, which is a node to the transportation network, creates urban negative effects to Esenler with other mega structures around it. Although it draws attention with its arms on many levels and at different levels to connect to the transportation network, the floors under the floor with very large areas are famous for being completely dysfunctional, dark and dangerous.
In the historical Isfahan Bazaar, there is a main spine that connects the two squares, and the units with the courtyard attached to that spine with a certain hierarchy. In our design, that inspired by this strategy, Tallows us to unite the neighborhoods.
BUILDING ELEMENTS CONSERVATION & MEMORY
Existing structure with roads and ramps
It was important to preserve the memory of the building while transforming the bus station into a completely different function. For this reason, we preserved the base in the building, many structural elements and the major bus ramps and the cross areas around which played the most important roles in recognition.
20
Non-used structure
Adopted roads, structure, square base with corners & creek
In addition to breaking the bus transportation line to many places in Istanbul, our most important goal in structural design is to bring the underground to full sunlight, and connect it to the city in an organic way with safe navigable public spaces. Metro is another key factor for the design because of its location that slices the building in half under the ground.

DENIZLI AS A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT Denizli plain has been a production and trade center by taking the power and abundance of the water back throughout history. Ancient cities have made great contributions to the development of social life and art as well as trade. Art was the most important accelerator in the ffdevelopment of society. The water elements and games in the cities were the most important of that period.
REVIVING THE MESERRET STREET NARRATIVE of MESERRET
CULTURAL MEMORY Three large ancient cities that feed each other and cultural memory around Denizli are best used in urban cultural geography (urban landscape) campus. The main streets multiply with communal courtyards and areas. The gathering areas are festive with water elements and colorful marble flooring patterns. Offering a colorful diversity in Denizli and its surroundings, marbles are used throughout the city, defining areas.

REVIVING THE MESERRET STREET URBAN SCALE IMPROVEMENTS 1. Campus satisfaction “neighborhood” Beautiful and accessible structures 2. Refreshing Open Spaces Proactive transformation with water leaks and lumps.
In the area where the historical flour factory has its transformed structure, the culture of open-air cinema, which continues for many years, is kept alive with cinema nights held once a week.
3. “game” oriented street experience Participants, sustainable, transformable areas that can be transformed
The coexistence of neighborhood-based small-scale businesses and art and design manufacturers along the path of joy is at the heart of sustainable transformation.
4. Socio-cultural functionalities 5. Visual continuity and integrity
Denizli mansion is a cooking day with the neighborhood once a month. Once a week, a handicraft market is set up on the street fair street. There are production and sales-oriented workplaces in the commercial areas on the ground floor facing the main square.
